Chapter 160: Restless Night
Igna gasped. “That wasn’t him at full power?!” She exclaimed.Kyle and Caille immediately shook their head. “No, his aura would have been enough to stop any and all attacks.” Caille admitted with a sour expression.Kyle couldn’t help but nod. “So, is there no way to stop him from just appearing when he wants?” He finally asked. Caille shrugged. “I don’t think so. He was right – you are equals at worst. I don’t think he’s going to be content with that though.”“Neither am I!” Kyle protested, rubbing the wounds on his arm, where Droigheann had drawn blood.Caille shrugged. “I think the only thing you can do is try and become powerful enough to actually be able to control him.” She fiddled with her long, green braid as she pondered a while. “Your summons now also gain power, right? I wonder if you can even outpace the Demon’s growth…

Chapter 161: A Soft Touch
There was nothing special about her words, but the way she said them… It sent Kyle’s mind into a spiral. Her crimson eyes watched his intently as he staggered, unable to come up with a lie. He shook his head, forcing a chuckle, damning the haze that had taken over his mind.“Stuff like this happens when you’re like me.”“Like you?” Vis tilted her head, not even blinking as she peered into his soul. At least it felt like it.“An adventurer.” Kyle said with a forced smirk. “I’m ok, there’s nothing to worry about.” He lied again, then rolled down his sleeve to hide the wounds, the dark amber tattoo, and the bruises. He had forgotten about them. Had he remembered, he would have pulled his sleeve down earlier.“Besides, what are you doing so far away from the village? It’s not entirely safe around these woods, you know.” Kyle felt the haze lift from his mind ever s

Chapter 162: Striking Fear
It was the very first time Kyle ever saw Cacophus so completely speechless. Baffled, the lich’s jaw moved up and down wordlessly. The green glows in his eye sockets were burning so brightly, it was almost enough to illuminate the room.“A Lich?” Droigheann commented. “Now that is… unique.” He walked past Kyle and approached Cacophus. “How did a powerful being like you end up serving such a weak human, hmm?” Towering over the Lich, the demon leaned forward, bringing his eyes to the same level as Cacophus’.“HE IS HARDLY WEAK.” Cacophus finally spoke. “THOUGH YOU SEEM TO LACK UNDERSTANDING OF HOW POWERFUL A HUMAN CAN BE.”The Demon of the Nightbloom chuckled. “Perhaps. It is annoying when my own powers are limited by his incompetence.”Kyle gritted his teeth and clenched his fists. As correct as that was, hearing those words still got on his nerves. He was doing his b

Chapter 163: A Green Veil
“No!” Kyle protested as the Demon of the Nightbloom stretched his large, feathery wings. “Let go of me!”Not even a couple of hours later, Kyle found himself leaning against the cliff wall at the bottom of the chasm, panting and trying to collect his composure.“Much faster than using a horse, don’t you think?” Droigheann asked with a faint, mocking smile on his lips.Kyle took out some bandages from his inventory and wrapped them around his left wrist. “Listen to me, demon!” He hissed. “I already told you – your being out in the world is too exhausting. I can’t do any fighting when you’re here!”The Demon of the Nightbloom rolled his eyes. “Please – we both know I made you grow stronger overnight. You’re able to stand, no? Last time I took your blood, you collapsed.” He smirked. “Besides, you don’t need to do any fighting. That’s

Chapter 164: Looking Through the Cracks
Droigheann cut the webs like they were nothing, then kicked the door down, only to gasp immediately afterwards, and step aside, pulling Kyle along with him.A web shot across the room, out the now open door, all the way across the hall, and hit the wall way in the back.“Hmm.” Droigheann muttered as he stepped towards the door once more. “That’s a nuisance.”Kyle shuddered, his eyes were wide open. Had he been hit by that… No, now wasn’t the time to think about any of that. He pointed into the room and whispered. “Sunburst!”The spell took effect almost immediately. Waves of golden light illuminated the room, revealing the monstrosities attacking them.Skeletons. Dozens of them were lined in the room, and they all crackled and moved towards Droigheann as soon as he stepped through the doorway. Immediately, Kyle’s spell began damaging them. Even if he hadn’t cast the spell, they woul

Chapter 165: Cobwebs and Bones
“What?” Kyle asked, but Droigheann didn’t answer. He wasn’t laughing anymore, nor was he mocking him. He was serious, and Kyle could clearly see it.“Come,” The Demon said, dragging him along the hall, back towards the doorway he sealed off with his vines. “Listen to me – if that spider is here, that means its children are here as well.” he hissed as they arrived at the wall of vines. “They aren’t venomous, but they have necromancy powers, that’s why there are skeletons, and that’s why they refuse to die.”Kyle gulped. Necromancer spiders… just great.“I will clear a path, I need you to find the spider controlling them, and kill it.” Droigheann said as he readied his blade. “It will have a green glow on its belly, and you should be able to sense the necrotic power flowing into the skeletons as I kill them, just when it brings them back to life.”

Chapter 166: Jet Black Legs
The skeletons were truly endless. No matter how many of them the Demon of the Nightbloom killed, they always came back to life.Kyle wiped the sweat off his forehead. This was the fifth spider he had killed in the last minute alone. They were everywhere. By the time he was done with this place, he was probably going to hate the colour green for a very long time.Droigheann’s blade cut through the skeletons with ease as they fought their way through the long, narrow hallway. “I see a room ahead.” The Demon pointed to their left, a few dozen steps ahead of them before turning his attention to disposing of the animated skeletons again.Kyle breathed a shaky sigh and focused on the pull on his right arm. The dark amber tattoo was sensing the necrotic power of the spiders, and its pull was the only thing allowing Kyle to spot them. The damned creatures were small, and usually well hidden, usually staying inside cracks on the walls, or the corners of

Chapter 167: Separated
The group of five skeletons fell apart as soon as his blade went through the spider’s body. It was yet another fist sized spider, hiding in an alcove in the wall.Kyle held his breath for a few seconds and listened intently. Nothing, he could hear no bony footsteps, no scurrying things inside the walls, and his dark amber tattoo had stopped constantly pulling his attention somewhere. Finally, the young man breathed a sigh of relief. This was the first moment of respite he got after being separated from Droigheann. Ever since the cave in, he had been constantly fighting. He was lucky though, this last group was the biggest one he had come across, and even they weren’t much of a threat because the spider animating them was small, immobile, and easily reached.Kyle shot a longing glance to the couch at the corner of the room. He would have loved to just sit somewhere soft and relax a bit but considering the thick layer of webs holding that one together,

Chapter 168: Brooding Chamber
Eggs. These were eggs. Thousands of them, if not more, of all sizes.Kyle felt his stomach churn. What… what if they hatched when he went near them?He shuddered. No, no they wouldn’t. Spider eggs didn’t wait for some outside influence to hatch, and even if they did, it would give him ample time to dispatch of the newly hatched creatures. The real issue was something else.If this was a Brooding Chamber, where was the queen? The Damhan-Nectidh should have been there. Why would she leave her eggs, her children unprotected? It made no sense.Unless this wasn’t the only brooding chamber.Kyle gulped. He wasn’t sure which was more terrifying; the Damhan-Nectidh being here, or there being a second brooding chamber. He decided on the first. He’d rather not come across the gigantic spider.“Please don’t be here.” He whispered as he stepped through the doorway, into the chamber. He

Chapter 169: Narrow Escape
Kyle approached the pedestal wide eyed. The book was closed, and locked with lock and chain, but it’s immense power was still more than enough to grant these spiders such abilities. As the young man approached the book, he suddenly felt sick, and weak. He gritted his teeth and powered through his sudden exhaustion and unwellness. He reached for the book but paused a split second before he touched it.“Oh, come on!” He whispered as a lump settled in his chest. A thin, almost invisible strand of spiderweb was wrapped around the book. The moment he touched it, the Damhan-Nectidh was going to know where he was, and what he was doing. He gritted his teeth. He had no choice – he was either going to take that chance or die here eventually as neither he nor Droigheann had no way to remove the veil guarding this place. He unsheathed his sword, and carefully cut the strand of cobweb. He breathed a sigh of relief – it wasn’t the s
