31. Yacleemb
The Space Spoon/Helen B.
Tejeda saw that their ship had leveled out, no longer depending on artificial gravity to keep them anchored on the floor or its primary engines to propel them ahead. As they flew over Yacleemb, they passed above its humid tropical rainforest under a silvery sky. Finally, the stabilizing systems kicked in as the Space Spoon slowed down and targeted straight down on lush tall grass.Because of its axial tilt, Yacleemb, the third planet in the Orsa system, had long-lasting seasons. As it was early spring, a consistent warm temperature would aid with exterior repairs. A 56-hour day also meant more than 28 hours of sunlight.Stretching his limbs, Tejeda prepared for a nice, quiet stroll outside the ship. He had been on this planet before for quite some time. The only sentient life form on Yacleemb was the Spreah, a humanoid pre-space age race that was very shy and extremely stubborn, not capable of harming another being except with their words.Tejeda felt better wit

32. The Spreahs
The Space Spoon/Helen B.
Tejeda and Shayla followed the Spreah couple along a riverbank. The stream bent at an almost right angle.Shayla slowed down, putting more distance between them and the Spreahs. That way, the Yacleemb locals wouldn't be able to hear. "We should have told the others where we were going, Tejeda."“Don’t worry, my dear Shayla,” he replied with an all-knowing smirk. “Did you think our new uniforms are just for kinks?”She scrutinized his uniform, a purple long-sleeved jacket with a v-neckline and two vertical silver stripes. The pants were of the same material and color, the stripes continuing along them too. The only differences between his uniform and hers were that hers had a more slim-fit cut and a far down neckline. There were the kinks. With a theatrical gesture of her hands, Shayla pointed at her body, stopping at her deep cleavage. “What other roles does this have?”"Oh, that's just for my amusement." T

33. Swimming Octopus
The Space Spoon/Helen B.
“I can’t help you hunt, but I can show you where the birds gather at night and some other spots you can trail some other animals,” Rylus said after their prayer ended. “But before that, I have another thing to show you, travelers.”Shayla's eyes widened as she stared at Tejeda. He shrugged and followed the Spreah. With a sigh, she tagged along. From the dining cave, Rylus led them into another smaller one. It looked like a regular cavern until Tejeda observed its ceiling. A thick net held green foliage above their heads. Following the braided threads to the sidewalls, he spotted hooks pinning the contraption in place.Rylus halted close to a dangling braided rope. "A visitor arrived in our community a few years ago. We greeted him like we always do, and in exchange, he revealed a wonderful secret to us. He knew Tejeda Hajar and gave us the means to determine whether or not a traveler is the supreme being."His hand grasped the

34. Hear the Screams
The Space Spoon/Helen B.
An hour later, a human male crawled to the shore and slouched onto the leafy grass on the riverbank. His ears caught the thud of two sets of steps approaching. Two women came into his line of sight. One had furry ears and the other had a shiny object around her neck. But she didn’t need trinkets to sparkle. The luster of her dark hair and her cunning green gaze captivated him.As he realized who he was, a sensation of calm flowed over him. Tejeda Hajar wore the same body as before the Spreah cave event. This DNA belonged to an officer who volunteered for this following his little encounter with the admirals.“Let’s go grab you a uniform,” Shayla said, gesturing for him to rise.“You see me naked. I feel fully clothed.” He sprang up. “This skin is my costume. Don’t be fooled by it. My exterior can have a pinky, soft skin, or green scales, or a flurry mane. I am always fully clothed.”Tejeda turned aroun

35. Forbidden Modifications
The Space Spoon/Helen B.
C1313 proceeded directly to the ship's docking bay. She walked past multiple pocket doors, oblivious to how they slipped into the walls and back. Her auditory circuitry was faulty. All she could hear for several hours had been the voice of that admiral on the 777th floor. ‘This is a driving robot with no further features or uses. It would be completely worthless aboard a spacecraft.’The large cargo hold was brightly lit by the glowing sun’s rays coming through the opened bay doors. For the time being, this area had been repurposed for Hanga’s use as he repaired the ship. Blades, pinchers, wrenches, drills, screwdrivers, clippers, and saws hung on hooks around the walls. If the manner in which they were all oil-smudged and greasy was any indicator, they had all been well-used.Have you ever been afraid to go to the doctor? If you answered yes, you understand how C1313 felt. Engineers and technicians opened up and tore apart portions of the likes

36. Jackeye’s World
The Space Spoon/Helen B.
The harvest season was over, and Steffen needed a well-deserved break. He rubbed his aching back, wanting more than just fresh air. He slumped into the leafy grass and settled his head on his forearms. Fluffy white clouds hovered above him.The festival was about to begin, crowning the end of the peasants' labor. The musicians had already tuned their bagpipes. Oh, how much he loved this time of the year. Good that time passed faster in his world, and the festival took place four times a year. Well, five times this year. He had managed to reset the world timer after he missed the first instance while saving that Valerian.“Hmm, weird,” he muttered under his breath, watching the clouds moving in an algorithmic, unknown pattern. The fluffy cotton on the sky rearranged, forming letters. ‘The drones are repairing the air support system.’Steffen’s golden eyes glittered in the sun as the clouds moved again. ‘Open the door to

“Jackeye! Jackeye! Wake up!”Steffen’s brain started to shut down as he looked for the voice in the dark. It was like a drop of water falling into a pond, impossible to define where the sound started and where it ended. His mind had a thousand tiny fissures, her voice a tiny stone that rolled into crevices unseen. When fingers brushed near his right ear, he let out a yell. He opened his eyes and raised his torso, struggling to get as much oxygen as he could. The air tasted stale and sour on his dried-out tongue.“Where am I?” he muttered with his hand on his neck.“According to E00, this planet’s atmosphere has high quantities of oxygen. He advised me to carry you outside of your quarters when I found you there unconscious.”Jackeye's wandering gaze found the leafy grass, and C1313 stood upright next to him. The aching in his skull wouldn't go away. It crept down his neck, through his shoulders, and i

38. Blooming Friendship
The Space Spoon/Helen B.
“Are you nuts?” Jackeye shouted, following Tejeda through the ship’s corridor. “I’ve never taken another person with me inside my world.”"Everything, after all, has to begin somewhere. Moreover, my level of lunacy is not in question. It is a well-known truth." Tejeda came to a halt directly in front of Jackeye's quarters and turned to face him. "If I had to place a wager on where I could discover a clue about our stalker, I'd stake all I had on your construct. It was only a few moments ago that he, she, or whatever it is, was there. We can discover a way to trace her whereabouts."“Time flows differently there. Each world has its own set of rules.” Jackeye shook his head. “Even if you were to find a clue, traveling between worlds without the permission of its Designer is near impossible.”“If she did it, so can I.” Tejeda decreed with confidence off the charts. “Now tell me, why do yo

39. Testing Trouble
The Space Spoon/Helen B.
“Behold!” Jackeye shouted, his hands outstretched toward the blue sky. They both materialized in the middle of the meadow, aka the starting point."Allow me to introduce you to the wondrous world of..." Out of the corner of his eye, Jackeye noticed movement. He turned just in time to see Tejeda walking away, his back to him. "Where are you going?"“The edge of the forest is like a canvas of colors, and I think I can see people.”Frustrated by the lack of consideration, Jackeye trailed behind Tejeda. "Of course, there’s the harvest festival that got ruined for the second time... No, I think it’s the... You know what? Forget it!""Hmm? What should I forget?" Tejeda asked with genuine confusion. Then he stopped his trek, staring at the stalls. "What’s wrong? From what I know, festivals mean hustle and bustle, but here nothing’s moving.""My abrupt departure from Jackeye's World caused a connection

40. The Deity's Follower
The Space Spoon/Helen B.
Shayla walked over a teeny-tiny root, thinking she had cleared it. But, no. Her toe brushed up against the top, and she slid forward with a stifled oomph, collapsing to one knee. In the muck. Of course. With her luck, there was no better place for her.She chuckled, thinking of the half-full part of the glass. At least Tejeda wasn't there to see her. After a few minutes, she pushed herself back to her feet and continued her march, feeling no pain from the mild scrape on the side of her knee. She even stepped on a few more roots, just to prove it.As she wiped the filth off her uniform, tears welled up in the corners of her eyes. Pissed as hell, she clenched her fists, marching toward the Spreah camp. Tejeda would never let her in his little secrets, so she had to find other means to gather at least parts of the truth. His grieving eyes before he left her on the riverside were a sight she had not expected from him. Her initial instinct was to reach out and caress
