Chapter Twenty One
Not willing to give them that opportunity, Michael followed them into the window as well. When he entered, he immediately sensed an incredibly abundant life force in the room and pushed himself directly in front of it. The room was a bit spacious and seemed to be a little girl's bedroom if the pink wallpaper and teddies were anything to go by. Said little girl was still lying on her bed petrified by fear and screaming her lungs out as she clutched the bedsheets tightly. The shadow surrounding the figures dissipated in the dim illumination of the room's nightlight revealing their true forms. They were basically skeletons with very thin and translucent skin that stretched tightly over pale bones visible to the naked eye. They were dressed in ancient Native American warrior outfits and most of them carried melee weapons. Their eye sockets were occupied with evil looking red orbs of light that promised death to whomever they were fixed on. Michael took a quick look around the room

Chapter Twenty Two
Someone knocked twice on the mahogany door before it was pushed open. Two men walked in on either side of a little girl who couldn't be older than twelve. She had straight black hair that fell well past her shoulders. Her delicate facial features gave away her Italian heritage but the soft blue color of her eyes showed some signs of American parentage. Most likely from her mother, Michael surmised since her father was clearly Italian. The girl was huddling a blanket around herself and although she seemed to have calmed down a bit, Michael could tell she was still more than a little shaken by the night's events. As soon as she entered the room, she dashed towards her father who had risen out of his chair when the door opened and threw her arms around him. Light sobs wracked her small frame as she embraced her father tightly while the man consoled his daughter softly. The scene wrenched Michael's heart and he forced himself to turn away, his resolve to find out the truth hard

Chapter Twenty Three
Mia followed Whitney down the halls quietly. She felt like she should apologize to the other girl but the thing was, she didn't know what to apologize for. Having spent a lot of tine with Whitney, she could confidently say she was one of the girl's best friends. That meant she knew a lot about how Whitney's thought process worked. The witch was prideful, a side effect of the attention that had been heaped on her as a result of her exceptional talent. Her confidence was not misplaced too. Mia was certain that Whitney was the most skilled out of all of them that had been invited for the program. But even with all her faith in her friend, Mia could not help but worry about her. There was a part of her that feared that the white haired girl may have gotten in over her head this time. At first they had relegated it to the back o

Chapter Twenty Four
Dan paid the cab driver and turned around as the car drove off. In front of him, Starlight Central Academy stood in all its glory. Not that Dan cared though. As far as he was concerned, the place was little more than a hive full of ignorant and immature fledglings who had no idea what awaited them in the real world. How could they, when they were still utterly unaware of the creatures that cohabited the school with them. As he strode through the gates, Dan felt a familiar pressure wash over him. It was one that would be completely undetectable to anyone,no matter how sensitive one was, unless he or she was affiliated with the people who had put it in place. That was the only reason he had been able to detect it. A suppressed shiver threatened to escape him as he felt the evil nature of the spell fade away after he went past the gates. Dan frowned for a moment before continuing on his way. If that amount of malevolence was the standard for the curses he had been invited to d

Chapter Twenty Five
The hospital in Starlight Central Academy had been built to provide medical students to help prepare them for real life scenarios. The place operated like an actual hospital as the school management had gone all out by employing several genuine doctors to guide the students, as well as multiple miscellaneous staff. The medical students were simply required to serve as interns to the doctors as well as observe them in action to glean as much as experience as possible. Since it operated like the real thing, the hospital was never closed at any point in the day. Rather the employed staff rotated shifts to keep the place functioning day in and day out. The sun had already receded well into the horizon when the two Hunters arrived at the hospital. Having spent more than a few hours memorizing the layout of the building, both of them were already familiar with the placement of rooms in the hospital. After taking care to ensure they were not seen by anyone, they made their way to the

Chapter Twenty Six
Despite the fact that the main aim of the program was to foster unity between the factions, invitees were still expected to behave accordingly with the rules of the academy. In other words, attending lectures and tests were a given. Supernatural or not, they had to participate in certain activities so as not to stand out among the student population. Most of them found this arrangement annoying. Having been spent years learning various complex branches of magic, it was a bit of a bother to have to repeat the same in an even less motivating manner. The only upside to this was the fact that they still received magic lessons every week from their original teachers. Every other day was spent with actual professors alongside other normal students since as first year students, everyone had the same general classes. If the witches and vampires found this annoying, one could only imagine how the Hunters felt about it. Michael in particular had begun considering straight up leaving t

Chapter Twenty Seven
As a city that ran almost entirely on income from tourism, Starlight Bay's entertainment constructions were usually of high quality. There were many of them too, all built to popularize the town and in turn draw in more people into the economical loop. Although most of the establishments in the urban part of the city were high class, there were still many that had yet to fall into that category. Small cafes, eateries and the like that were privately owned served to provide for people who had no intention of blowing hundreds of dollars on a ridiculously small meal. In one of such modest restaurants, three people sat around a table. Though they were in a restaurant, none of them had a single edible thing in front of them. After all, food was the last thing on their minds at the moment. Michael read through the list in front of him for what must have been the tenth time in the past fifteen minutes. A dark look had settled on his face and his eyes narrowed grimly as he returne

Chapter Twenty Eight
Katie cursed silently as she tugged at a thorny branch that had caught on her pajamas. She had seriously begun reconsidering her decision to follow Melanie. When she had been suddenly asked to come outside her dorm room at two in the morning, she had thought there had been something important that required her help. As a 'good friend' she was, Katie had left the comfort of her bed to tend to the call of the diva. That was a choice she was severely regretting. Her sleepy eyes fell on the girl stumbling beside her and she was secretly glad she was not suffering alone. Melanie had dragged another one of their friends, Sarah with them on this useless trip. The other girl seemed to be just as miserable as Katie herself, if not more. Oh how she would have loved to refuse Melanie's order. Unfortunately it was impossible for her to do so, at least not if she wanted to drop out of college. There was a reason Melanie could act the way she did without any fear of repercussions. Her

Chapter Twenty Nine
The bodies had been found by some students who had gone into the woods with a teacher for an outdoor project. Terrified at the mangled state of the two corpses, they had immediately notified the police who were then invited to remove the bodies. The time of death had been estimated to have been several hours before the bodies were discovered and the cause of death has been assumed to be an attack by a large carnivorous animal. That conclusion had been after further examination of the bodies had revealed several body parts missing in a manner that indicated that they had been consumed. When another body was discovered deep in the forest the next day, in the same condition as the first two, a wave of alarm swept through the school. Once more the police were called in and a warning was issued to all students to avoid solitary movements after dark. A special Animal Control team had been called in to search the forest for the creature responsible for the murders. Since it was fall, it

Chapter Thirty
The silver Mercedes rolled down the slightly busy road, accelerating gradually as it rounded a bend. The driver was a man in his prime, with slightly parted brown hair that seemed almost red in the sunlight. His attire was casual enough not to make him stand out yet gave him an air of seriousness. On the left part of his turtleneck shirt, a beautiful bejeweled silver cross pinned there gleamed in the sunlight brightly. Vincent McAllen mused quietly as he drove his car downtown. The recent spate of violent murders had gotten everyone concerned, some more than others. As an Exorcist as well as the one of the coordinators of this whole thing, it was easy to see how much the deaths had affected him. The fact that innocent people were being killed aside, Vincent had an uncomfortable notion that these murders were only the beginning. He did not like to sound too pessimistic but as far as he was concerned, if there was even a slight chance of something bad happening, he would rather no
