Soon after he was hired by Duke Wenovitch as his only son's guardian, Verix began his duty of ensuring the young master's safety. Gesta didn’t seem pleased with what his father just told him, thinking that it was ridiculous and nonsense. He only rolled his eyes as Verix walked toward him, stretching his arm and trying to shake Gesta’s hand.Gesta scoffed at the man who was older than him but still far younger than his parents, “I don’t need you.”Verix hid his annoyance by carving a sly smile. “What makes you so sure about it?”The only manchild then stormed off, leaving the scene and back to his room. After locking the door behind, Gesta sighed and mumbled, “it’s dumb! I’m a mature man and I can take care of myself, I don’t need any assistance, even from that weird-lanky man.”As nightfall came, Gesta peered from his half-opened room door.
