101. The Deadliest Of Situations
As Leonard anxiously waited for his mother to arrive at the hospital, he decided to reach out to Daniel. He knew he would be very worried and he needed to take that worry away from him because together, they had made a joint effort to find her. He knew he could count on Daniel for support and a listening ear during this difficult time and he knew he was really blessed to have a friend like him. With trembling fingers, Leonard dialed Daniel's number. The phone rang a few times before Daniel picked up, sounding concerned yet excited to hear from his friend. "Hey, Leonard! What's up? You just left school abruptly and you didn't even give me any explanation" Daniel asked. Taking a deep breath, Leonard began to share what had happened to him and even as he spoke, he found it quite hard because he was very close to tears. "Daniel, it's Elsie. I found her, but she's in a really bad state. She's in the hospital, and I'm here with her right now. It's... it's just so tough to see her like t

102. The Small Beep
"Hey son, how is she doing?" Helene asked, walking into the hospital room. When Leonard saw his mother, he burst into tears. He couldn't explain it but seeing her walk in, especially with Elsie on the bed reminded him of the times when she had been healthy and when everything had been fun. Now, it was just filled with sadness and bitterness, one he didn't quite know how to breach."The doc said it's not looking good and we have to pray for a miracle now," he said.He had forgotten the last time he cried but in that moment, he couldn't quite stop the onslaught of tears that streamed down his eyes. It was terrible to say the very least and he hated this feeling of grief and sadness because he could do nothing to help her situation."Oh, my God!" Helene sighed, hugging her son as he cried on her chest. She hated seeing him this way and it broke her heart because there was nothing they could do about it. Elsie didn't deserve any of this and being so innocent and lovely broke Helene's hear

103. Slim Chances
"How's her situation doc?" Helene asked as soon as she got to the lodge. The tall middle aged man with clean cut dusty brown hair looked up at her with a warm smile on his face. He didn't need to ask to know that she was Leonards' mother. The resemblance was uncanny and he loved that she cared so much about the young adults within the hospital room."You must be Mrs Tanner, Leonard's mom," the doctor said, stretching out his hand for a handshake."Yes, that's me. Thank you." Helene smiled."Well," he sighed.Even before he said anything else, Helene knew that what he was about to say wasn't in any way encouraging. The look on his face was one of hopelessness and pain."Why do I take it as something not good?" she sighed."I'm afraid Mrs Tanner, it isn't good at all." he said."Helene is fine, please and you can tell me everything that's wrong, I can take it." she said. The doctor sighed yet again, pulling out a file from the stack of files on his table. He offered her the seat opposit

The speed at which he ran back to the hospital room couldn't be compared to anything else. One minute, he had been talking to her, holding her hands while assuring her that everything was going to be alright and the next minute, she had squeezed his hands back, if only lightly and her eyes had flickered open."How is she doc?" Helene asked as she watched him check all her vitals. She held her sons' hands as he hoped for good news even as the doctor remained silent, checking all her vitals. After what seemed like an eternity, he turned to face them with a smile on his face. At that moment, Helene knew that everything was going to be alright."She'll be fine," he said, finally.Leonard crumbled to the ground, not quite believing his eyes. The prayer had worked, Elsie was going to be alright and it was all he could do not to shout and scream for joy. 106. An Eternity
"Doctor, how soon can she be released?" Leonard asked. It's been three days since Elsie came back to them and all that was on Leonard's mind was on how to take her away from there because of her father. He knew that by now, her father would have already known where she was because the information wasn't hard for him to come by. All he wanted was to get her out of there as fast as possible. "Judging from my reports from our observation, she should be good to go by tomorrow," he said. "Okay, that's good," Helene said. She had been with them ever since they brought Elsie to the hospital and Leonard loved that his mother was passionate about her healing. She took Elsie as her own daughter and he knew that they wouldn't have any problems in the future. "We have been able to flush out every trace of heroin in her system and now, we hope for a full recovery but ideally, tomorrow, she'll be free to go," he said. "Thank you, sir," Elsie smiled from her hospital bed. The doctor nodded be

Leonard's heart pounded as he approached his mother, the weight of his decision resting heavily on his shoulders. He found her in the living room, sipping a cup of tea, a hint of concern etched on her face. Taking a deep breath, he gathered the courage to speak. "Mom," Leonard began, his voice wavering slightly. "I need to talk to you about something important." His mother set down her teacup and looked at him intently. "Of course, Leonard. What is it?" "I've decided to report Elsie's overprotective father to the police," he confessed. "He's been making our lives miserable, and I can't let him continue to control us like this." His mother's eyes widened in surprise, but she didn't interrupt, allowing Leonard to continue. "He's done so many terrible things to both of us, Mom," Leonard said, his voice shaking with emotion. "He isolated Elsie from her friends, constantly monitored her every move, and even physically threatened us when he found out about our relationship with her. It

108. A Meaningful Way
Leonard entered the living room where his mother sat reading a book beside the fireplace. Taking a breath he gathered his courage to share the news he had recently uncovered. "Mom " he began, trying to maintain composure in his voice "I've been doing some research. I think I may have stumbled upon some leads regarding Elsie's father." His mother glanced up from her book, her eyes reflecting a mix of curiosity and concern. "Really? That's quite surprising " she responded, setting the book aside to fully focus on Leonard. "Leonard please be cautious. Elsie's father has a track record of being unreliable and untrustworthy. I don't want you to get hurt while trying to unravel more about him." "I understand your concerns, Mom, "Leonard acknowledged with a solemn nod. "I'm well aware of his reputation. I strongly believe that Elsie deserves to know more about her father. It holds significance for her. I want to assist in any way I can." His mother let out a sigh comprehending her son's i

Elsie's lips curved into a playful smile as she responded, "Well, Leonard, you deserve it. You've been incredibly nice to me and I know that you feel something for me but don't worry, I'm not going to pressure you into acting on it." Leonard blushed, feeling a mixture of happiness and disbelief. He hadn't expected such a response, and he was trying to find the right words to express his feel

After a long day at school, Leonard gathered the courage to walk toward his mother and ask her a question that had been on his mind for quite some time. As he entered the living room where she was sitting, he took a deep breath and said, "Mom, there's something I want to talk to you about." His mother looked up from her book, smiling warmly at her son. "Of course, Leonard. What's on your mind?" He hesitated for a moment, fidgeting with the strap of his backpack. "Well, you know Elsie has been trying to get used to all of this, right? We've been friends for a while, and I really like her. I was wondering if I could take her out on a date." Leonard's mother's expression changed slightly, and she grew serious. She put her book down and looked directly into her son's eyes. "Leonard, I want you to be careful. Elsie's family situation is complicated, and she hasn't yet escaped her wicked father's clutches." Leonard's eyes widened, sensing the gravity of the situation. He knew that Elsie
