Jade faints when she hears about the death of her father, she sees him off at his hotel, he was supposed to go to the airport. She had no idea that he didn't make it, that he was gunned down by some bad men on his way. Mister Moore calls the family doctor and she is brought back to consciousness. Jade is absolutely gutted, she screams, cries, wails, and gouges her eyes because she wants her father. She cries and cries without any help. When Angus and Matilda go to her, Matilda can't help but break down in tears. She recalls how miserable her life has been since her mother died– her stepmom isn't a good mother figure – so she sympathizes with Jade on another level. She hugs Jade tightly as she consoles her, it works like a charm. Soon, Jade is no longer crying crazily, she is just sobbing quietly in Matilda's arms.
