The Heir's Redemption/zaman
This was yet another time his in-laws were shocked at how Chris seemed to always be a step ahead of them. Anneliese was fuming when Chris walked outside, the documents he'd prepared duly signed by Ephraim, it was official, he was now a member of the board of directors for the Duke Empire. With a smirk still on his face, he could recall Anneliese's shocked expression and the deadly sneer that was etched on her parents' faces. “You can't do this lord Ephraim! He is not eligible for such a prestigious position!" Martin snapped, and Laura agreed immediately, stating that Chris was a nobody. "He can't be on the administrative board of the company! He can only be a staff if you must help him, which I think he doesn't even deserve our help." Laura snapped. Chris did not have to throw words at them, he understood that he had the man right where he wanted him and nothing his family could say at that point would dissuade him from taking his offer. "Chris has some very relevant ideas that c

The phone rang a little too late. Looking up, the manager knew that he'd just made a terrible mistake. With shaky hands, he looked at the documents again, hoping his eyes had been seen wrongly, but he wasn't that lucky, he'd seen right and Chris was indeed his superior. "I...I'm so sorry." He muttered under his breath, his knees weak and the hands that he had raised to hit Chris now boneless by his side. "Did you want to hit me?" Chris asked with a smirk on his face. The manager knew he was done for, nothing he did or said could undo the insults he had already given to Chris. "I didn't mean to, sir, I thought you were just a__" he stammered and Chris waved him off casually, his face stoic. The entire desk was quiet, the other board members were looking about nervously, the anxiety could be seen on their faces, they wondered who would come in and make the ruthless manager cower. Chris looked at the desk and asked, "Is he a good leader?" The desk was quiet and instead of a di

The Heir's Redemption/zaman
The offices in the Robinson family were quieter than usual. Some of the staff had been laid off and not for lack of money - although soon, that too would be a bone of contention - but mostly for mistrust. Potter was not a party to firing the staff but he wasn't ready to be a dictator and override the consensus of the board, even if he had every right by the constitution to do so. After the third secretary had been fired and the accountant general put on probation, Potter knew it was getting out of hand and the press would be upon them soon. It was a cloudy afternoon when Potter stepped out into the cold air, he was heading to his car when he heard the screeching of tyres, and turning to his left, he could see a maroon Bentley in sight. Curious, he stood rooted until he saw the doors open and two men dressed in black stepped out. They walked to him and although his heart was hammering wildly, he stood his ground. "The Jupiter wants an audience with you." The man with dark sunglass

The Heir's Redemption/zaman
Chris has taken over the Duke Empire. With major changes made to the board and other aspects of the company, the old staff weren't so happy with it. That morning, Christian sat on his swivel chair, his hands crossed over his chest, his eyes solely focused on the screen. The records spoke volumes, he could see the corruption wrought in the place, the records hadn't been reviewed for many years and Richmond had been stealing from the company. Just as he wanted to place a call to Ephraim, he heard the door open and the secretary, whose name he could not remember, came in. "I'm so sorry sir, there's a woman in the lobby who insists on seeing you and I know that you've just taken over the company, I don't know who is__" before the secretary could complete her statement, Chris saw Anneliese storm into the office, a nasty scowl on her face. "What madness! You think I need his permission to show up in my family company?" She sneered and moved the secretary aside, dropping her bag on

Chris froze, he could not believe his ears. Ephraim sat unflinching as he stated it, his face was blank. "We had a deal, lord Ephraim." He said. The old man scoffed and said their deal was still active. "We had a deal, Chris, and that deal is still on," he said and added, "I can't remember telling you that you'd be the head of the board, there are other people who may be more fit for that position, being on that seat depends entirely on you." He said with a suggestive smile. "What do you want, lord Ephraim?" He asked boldly, he could tell that the lord had something on his mind. "You're a really smart boy, Chris, I knew you'd understand." He said with a smirk and pulled the records closer, flipping the books until he found the page where his weekly percentage was deducted from the company account, then he showed it to him. Chris' eyes widened, it was a whopping $12 million and it was no surprise that the firm had collapsed suddenly, that and the fact that Richmond was stealing fr

Christian is stunned. He had guessed that Potter would be greatly opposed on the table, after all, he was not a member of the family, but he never thought that the Jupiter would be that opposition, especially since she rarely meddled in the company's day-to-day activities. "She said this herself?" He asked and Potter agreed. "In her very own words, she's worried that the company is losing a lot of money, so we've had to fire some staff as well." He said. Chris scoffed, "I guess that rain is falling on more than just one roof," he muttered, more to himself than the old man on the phone. "What do you think? Should__" Chris cut him in before he could say anything stupid. He knew too well that the old man was never ready for all that he was facing, but he had to be strong. "Listen to me, Potter, I know it's hard, but a lot will break if you give up now," he warned, "That's not even an option."He could hear Potter sigh on the other end and he felt bad for stressing the old man, "Do y

Chris was stunned at the audacity of the man. He looked at him but his gaze was unwavering. "That's a lot of money, you just got a cheque a day ago, lord Ephraim." He reminded him promptly. "I don't have amnesia, Christian, Robinson, I know when I got to cheque, I also know that if isn't enough to get the work done, I have a lot to achieve and I need a lot of money, you should understand this, after all, you're a businessman." He said and Chris nodded. Ephraim knew that in a matter of days, he'd taken so much from the company that it was a wonder Chris didn't give up. He was hoping that when he made the $60 million demand, that would be the final straw, but Chris seemed ready to negotiate rather than disagree blatantly as he'd expected. "So you must understand how these things work, I have to get a lot of money from the company to make money off the land I just acquired, there are a lot of deeds to be paid for the many years it was left there, there is a lot of taxes too, all this

The Heir's Redemption/zaman
In the car, Trevor was struggling with his cufflinks as his father opened the door and stepped in. He could not quite get his tie right either, but he figured that it didn't matter, so long as he had his inheritance. "You look a mess, Trevor, when will you ever learn to do things right?!" Ephraim snapped. Trevor could not say anything, he'd grown used to hearing that he was a disappointment to his father, and he was tired of trying to defend himself. "Why are you dressed so shabbily? What's wrong with you, the color of your shirt is poor, it doesn't match your shoes." Ephraim scolded all in one breath. Trevor hissed, "I did my best to dress up for you, Dad, is this still not good enough for you?" He asked, frustrated. "No! It isn't good enough for the entire Duke family! You are a Duke and you should act like it." Ephraim said. Trevor nodded, he just wanted to secure his rightful place, he would not have bothered with the empire, but hearing the money involved, he knew he had

"A servant will always be a servant, he has no place leading the true sons of the Robinson family." Potter heard someone say and he knew exactly who it was. Hogan was talking and his tone was raised intentionally to make him hear that comment. Potter sighed, he'd had enough of their taunts and mockery over the first since he took over from Chris, and it was beginning to get on his nerves. As he stood by the door, it came open and Hogan and another member of the board stepped out. Hogan smirked at him as he passed him, convincing Potter that indeed, he'd intended for him to hear that comment. "We have a meeting, won't you join us? As the 'heir', you should be there." He said and walked into the conference room. Potter got in and took his place by the head of the table, right next to the Jupiter. He did not know how to begin so he allowed Pa Pete to do the opening rites and then went ahead to discuss the difficulties that the company was facing. "Why is all this happening? We've nev

The Heir's Redemption/zaman
Christian Robinson had a smirk on his face as father and son looked through the letters he'd just handed to them. They were baffled, they could not believe that he'd outsmarted them."My niece, Anneliese warned me about you, I should have known you were a snake." Ephraim spat through clenched teeth. "I'm the snake? Don't forget you had a deal and now you show up with your son, trying to make me take the back seat, lord Ephraim, that is a cheap trick," Chris said with a frown, "Did you think I'll fall for it?" Ephraim did not know what to say, it was true, he wanted to get Chris out of the way because he now thought the Duke Empire had regained value and Chris was going to take over soon if he didn't act fast. "This is my inheritance, it doesn't matter what you signed with my father, you will be off the board before the end of today, I'll make sure of it," Trevor said as he got off the swivel chair and advanced towards Chris. Despite his size and height which was a few inches highe
