Christian Robinson had a smirk on his face as father and son looked through the letters he'd just handed to them. They were baffled, they could not believe that he'd outsmarted them."My niece, Anneliese warned me about you, I should have known you were a snake." Ephraim spat through clenched teeth. "I'm the snake? Don't forget you had a deal and now you show up with your son, trying to make me take the back seat, lord Ephraim, that is a cheap trick," Chris said with a frown, "Did you think I'll fall for it?" Ephraim did not know what to say, it was true, he wanted to get Chris out of the way because he now thought the Duke Empire had regained value and Chris was going to take over soon if he didn't act fast. "This is my inheritance, it doesn't matter what you signed with my father, you will be off the board before the end of today, I'll make sure of it," Trevor said as he got off the swivel chair and advanced towards Chris. Despite his size and height which was a few inches highe

The police station was quiet as Christian stood outside, waiting for Trevor and Ephraim to be released. He knew it would be bad publicity for them to be in the cell for a long time so he simply gave an order after the first few hours for them to be let out. Already, he could see some fishy headlines flying around, questioning the ownership of the Duke Empire; it wasn't good for the reputation of the company. Christian could tell that the staff had begun the rumor and maybe a few eager Journalist had picked it up and it was only a matter of time before they somehow found out where Ephraim and Trevor had been taken and in a matter of hours, they'd be trooping into the police station or waiting outside the gate for anything at all to make their story juicy. "Are you sure, sir?" The officer asked as Chris said that he wanted the lord and his son released. "The commander said we can keep them detained for as long as you want." He assured me. Chris shook his head, "That's bad for the co

Far away, another family gathered in front of the TV, it was in Anneliese's family home. Anneliese stood beside her father and mother who were sneering at the TV. "Serves the lord right! He refused to take us seriously! He believed that piece of trash over us, now he's been double-crossed." Laura said and laughed. Anneliese smiled too, she was happy that lord Ephraim had no doubt learned his lessons. Everyone knew how greedy the man was and how easily he fell for money. "We can't let this happen!" Trevor who had just arrived at the Foden family house said. Anneliese agreed with him, saying they had to send Chris away before he stole what belonged to the Duke family. "What do we do?" Martin asked and the room was silent. Trevor was still glaring at the television, Christian was shaking hands with the lord and then the lord left in a hurry. He could see the smirk on his face as the cameras flashed. "He's a bastard!" Trevor snapped angrily. "He has to be taken out," Martin said a

"Marry?" Anneliese asked, and she was shocked at the suggestion. She looked at the man, thinking he was maybe joking but he was Stanley Croft and he was not known for making any jokes. "You're being serious?" She asked and the man nodded. "Marry me? Where does that come in? How will that help us?" She asked. Laura shut her up immediately and said that she should let the man speak, after all, he was older and far wiser than she was. Anneliese was skeptical but she listened to her mother. Laura did not want Anneliese to ruin her chances of being married to a wealthy and influential man. "What do you have in mind, Mr Stanley?" Laura asked, eagerly. "The lord only took over the Duke family a few years ago," he said and Martin nodded. He could still remember when Ephraim took over the Duke family. It had been in a meeting many years ago, he and a few others had been contesting for the position shortly after the heir of the company had died after a brief illness. Martin had been very

Christian Robinson looked down at the busy street, from his vantage on the top floor of the Duke Empire, he could see the cars below and the people as they walked briskly, no doubt trying to catch up with time. Time was the one commodity that Christian was slowly losing by the day. Each day he woke, he was reminded of all the time he'd spent at the table of the Robinson family and still, he felt like he wasn't even close to finding answers yet. His father's disappearance was still a myth to him as it had been about two decades ago. Jupiter seemed to be his nemesis, she'd known that he would be useless away from the family and she did just that. Chris had neither called nor seen anyone from the family since he was suspended, anyone except Potter. For the rest of the calls he got, he always declined them, left the emails unread, and never replied. Speaking of the devil, he received a call from Potter at the same instance that his thoughts ran to his family. "Hello, Potter." He said

Chris looked at the record in his hands, Potter was just right on time, he had to look at the records and find who the rival was before they did more harm to the Robinson family. As Chris left the parking it outside the office and went into the main building, he could see a small crowd gathering at the reception desk. "Sir, you have to calm down, the CEO isn't here yet, he will be with you soon and he will take a look at whatever deal you have brought." The lady at the desk said, trying to appease the angry man who was fuming right in front of her. "Deals?! You must be insane to think that I will bring a deal to him! Who does he think he is and how dare he keep me waiting?! " The man asked sharply. The receptionist leaned back, intimidated by his tone and his words, she quickly pulled out the telephone and said, "Let me try to call his private line, he's not in the office right now, he stepped out, please sir, kindly wait for him, I'm sure he will return shortly." She said as she

Christian stared after Anneliese's back as she walked out of the office. He could not believe that She had once again taken the front line to frustrate and humiliate him. Ephraim was the first person he called but his phone was turned off and Chris could guess that it was purposeful. This was out of the man's hands, there was no way he could help him. Angry, Chris looked down at the supposed will again. It was boldly written, the Duke's will. He could not believe that he'd missed something so vital when he was going over the company's records. He'd been so sure there was nothing to hide, there was nothing that could take him to court, not unless such a person had not the slightest clue about how the law worked. Chris pulled out his phone and called his investigators, he needed to know everything about the man called Stanley Croft. "Hello, master." The investigator said he sounded odd and Chris could understand why. He'd not been in contact with any of his private investigators for

The hotel was indeed a tourist attraction. The grasses were well trimmed, the water was clear and the entire place was serene and yet lively. Soft music filtered through the entire place, giving it a soft and relaxing feel. By the side of the lake, Christian spotted Ephraim. He was laid on a lounge chair, his hands stretched over his head and the left holding a glass of wine, the bottle sat on the sand, half empty. "Living the life, I see." He said as he got closer to the lake. Ephraim sat up immediately and glared at him, a nasty frown on his face before he remembered to smile. "I wasn't expecting you, Chris." He said and offered him the same glass. "I'd rather not, thank you." He replied. "Well, what brings you here? Something tells you you didn't come for the fresh air or cool water." He said. "You know why I'm here," Chris replied. Ephraim's eyes gave him away but the man still shook his head, feigning innocence. "Really, I don't. I don't think we have unfinished bu

Sonya couldn't believe her eyes, she gasped and that was how she fell into the orbit who was right behind her. One of them caught her swiftly and everyone quickly called for the company doctor. Chris remained calm. She was just in shock and would no doubt be revived with a little air and water. He could only imagine what it felt like to be thrown down after such years in power. "Where have you been, son?" Pa Pete asked and Julius only smiled. He was a spitting image of his twin, Evans Robinson and he didn't look like the years had treated him badly at all. Some of the men on the table who knew that their hands were stained and they'd been working with Sonya to condemn Christian, all looked down in shame because they could face him or Julius. "Now that you're back, what will be the fate of the executive board?" One of them mustered the courage to ask. But that wasn't really what he meant and everyone could tell. He was trying to find out what Julius would do to them that had gotten

Evans was a little shaky as the man took them to the inner recess of the tunnel and it became dark. Christian could still remember the way to Orton and he certainly could tell that it wasn't the same route they were being taken. "What's going on? Aren't we meeting with Orton anymore?" He asked and the man simply looked at them without saying anything. Christian swallowed nervously but quietly followed him until they got to a part of the tunnel where the light became brighter and they could see a glass room in the distance. Right through the glass sat an old man at a desk, Orton. "While I still breathe," Evans said as he entered the glass cave. "I never thought I'd see you after so many years, I could swear you vowed never to see the Robinson family again." Orton looked at them quietly and then offered them both the double-seated couch, asking if they needed a strong Irish coffee. "We'll be needing more than a cup of coffee from you," Evans replied with a serious face. He pulled ou

Evans had a plan and that plan was foolproof - or so they both believed. Right there in the living room, Christian showed the token to Evans and after he stared at it in awe, he said it would take them right to Berlin. They arrived at the small town the next day. Evans was in the front seat and Christian was in the driver's seat. His face was twisted in an ugly frown. "I told you to let Potter drive us, he's more mature on the wheel, we almost had an accident on the way here, I hate to think what will happen as we return," Evans said as he stepped out of the vehicle. "I hate this place, I could almost swear nothing would ever bring me back here," he spat angrily. Evans laughed at him, "Never say never, my son, life can be a rollercoaster sometimes," he said. Christian wiped at his head, a bead of perspiration had formed from the warm air. He pulled off his sunglasses and stared at the small pub that still stood in the distance. Karen was still in business and that only meant one t

It was four days after the legendary meeting at the Robinson lobby. Christian hadn't shown up at the company for that long. It made Jupiter happy that one thing she'd hoped for had worked out - Christian was too embarrassed to come back out. That fateful afternoon, Christian was at the Robinson estate after such a long time. If there was ever going to be a time he needed Evans' help, it was then. Arriving at the door, it was Melissa who welcomed him in and he nodded at her mutely and crossed the threshold. "It's been a long time since I last saw you, Christian," Melissa said as she ushered him in. Christian didn't say anything still. He didn't want to talk to her, he was in too sore a mood too. "I know what...how it went last time was not ideal. I know you trusted me with...well, I disappointed you and tried to cause a rift between you and Evans, I'm sorry," she said. Christian again simply nodded. Melissa sighed, she looked remorseful. She was dressed in a sheer green gown and shaw

Sonya did not look so confident anymore, her weak bones trembled and she quickly grabbed onto the desk for support. Christian still wore a smirk on his face as his grandfather, Pa Pete looked warily at the document on the desk."You got the deal?" He asked, his tone disbelieving. Christian did not reply, at least not verbally, he remained standing with a smile on his face. "This is ridiculous!" Sonya yelled, "There is no way this boy could secure a deal with Otec, there is also no way in hell that he knows Orton Berlin," she snapped. Christian dipped his hands into his breast pocket and retrieved the token that Orton had given to him, he did not bother handing it to her but simply slammed it on the table. With shaky wrinkled hands, Sonya picked up the token, she turned pale, her eyes wide in shock. "But how! I have been dying to meet this man all my life, how could you get the Supreme token?" Sonya asked, still in disbelief. "You are not the only one that can weasel your way into p

Sonya took the flowers and had half the mind to toss it in his face but she had to reign in her temper. She instead snatched it up aggressively and tossed it at one of the Orbits who held it like it burned. "What do you have to say concerning the challenge you called, Christian? Are you having a change of heart?" She asked and immediately one of the board members said loudly, "He can't do that! The entire board knows about it and we won't allow such cowardice!" The man snapped. "Who said anything about backing out?" Christian asked and the man began to stammer foolishly before sitting down. Jupiter was pleased with the way they all treated Chris, everyone was attacking him. "Will we all let him speak?" Pete snapped, his voice rising above the others. Christian rose and nodded at the roses he'd just gifted Sonya, "I picked those out myself, it's a shame you won't even appreciate it," he said and Sonya rolled her eyes, "I didn't recall asking you for any flowers, Chris, last I checke

Pa Pete was hesitant to begin the proceedings of the meeting and everyone on the table noticed, especially Chris who was just right beside him.Sonya must have noticed too because she smiled and said mockingly, "Are your feet getting heavier for you, Pa Pete? Perhaps it's not just your grandson that needs replacing, you too might be getting a little too old for that seat." Pete ignored her and looked at Christian who calmly nodded at him, a silent approval to commence the meeting. There was no need to wait, it wouldn't change the outcome of the meeting anyway. The orbits were right behind Jupiter, all six of them stood like rods, stuff, unyielding, with their hands crossed. Pete looked at them scornfully and then cleared his throat a little too loud. "Is there something you have to say? We don't have all day, Pete." Sonya said, her lips still bearing the same smile she'd exited the vehicle with that morning. "I think we all know what I'm about to say," Pete said, looking at member

Hope is a formidable force, even a single ray can light up the darkest abyss. Christian Robinson could attest to this as he woke up that morning, feeling a lot better than he'd slept. He had a feeling that the world was aligning right where it ought to be and he was at the helm of it all - where he'd always wanted. "Sir, your suit just arrived," his servant bowed as he entered the room. Christian hadn't heard him knock but he was sure he had, he'd no doubt been too lost in thought to hear. "Thank you, I'll be right out." He replied and the man nodded as he left. He looked again at the mirror and smirked, his crisp white shirt was tucked beautifully into his black trousers, and his shoe just a little shiny. He'd called back his servants the previous evening just as he'd gotten that token from Berlin. He had a feeling his life was about to change for good, he had a gut feeling. Christian left the room and took the suit from the servant as he got to his car - he'd decided he was dri

The exit of the tunnel led to a small boutique that was on the outskirts of town, close to where the train station was. As he climbed up to the stairwell and pushed the door open, he noticed that no one seemed interested in him even though they'd seen him crawl out of the ground. The receptionist at the desk simply looked at him blankly as he walked out the door and Christian figured that the establishment belonged to Orton, a way of making the tunnel he'd made. It was a brilliant idea, there was no way someone could guess that there was an entire world down there, an entire company. Chris could not get to his car that morning, he'd barely been able to get home in time for a change of outfit before he headed down to Otec - again. This was his second time parked outside the gigantic building and he didn't fail to marvel at the beauty of it all. He sighed as he pulled out the proposal from his dashboard and clutched the token that Orton had given him firmly in his grip. Coming down
