At the front porch, while Melanie and Brian argued, Charlene was cleaning Dalton's elbow which was grazed due to Raymond's teeth."Geez, harsh thing you did to Raymond." She commented."I could have done more," Dalton replied. The cut inflamed under the touch of the spirit but he didn't flinch at all."Hmm, who would have thought you knew how to fight? You look so...gentle." Charlene stared at his hazel eyes. She could still remember how fierce it looked when Dalton shrugged. "Never judge a book by its cover. How's your head?"Charlene rubbed the back of her head. "I came off with a little lump, but I'll be alright.""Let me see...if it's okay with you." Charlene turned around. Dalton pushed her orange hair away. Charlene loved the way his fingers touched her skin. "Oh," Dalton said, after sighting the lump. "Just apply some pressure and ice on it and it will be alright.""Sure," Charlene replied, almost dreamily. She wanted to press her head into his hands but he had removed hi

"So, you were working undercover?" asked Melanie.Dalton nodded again. "For Brian's safety, Edward appointed me to watch Brian in secret. I'm sure he has other Nightbirds watching Brian secretly too.""Sounds like something Edward would do," Melanie said."OK, can someone explain what a Nightbird is?" Brian interjected, getting confused with the Nightbjrd talk."Oh, you don't know yet. Well, your father has three categories of workers and men. The Nightbirds, Gray Guardians, and Butterfly. Dalton is a Nightbird, while Charlene and I are Butterflies." Melanie explained and pushed back some strands of her hair.Brian blinked. "And why am I just hearing this now?" They only shrugged. Gabe and his friends froze as three men approached them. They were masked and dressed in all-black. "What...what...do you want from us?" Gabe stammered, trembling. "Who is Gabe Peterson?" The man in the middle asked. His voice was so deep that it sent shivers down their spine. Without hesitation, they all pointed at Gabe. "Take him." The man ordered. Gabe's heart skipped a beat. "What? What did I do?" The other two men drew closer to him and grabbed his shoulders. "Follow us if you don't want any problems." One of them said. Gabe gulped and glanced at his friends. Fright was evidently etched on their faces. They didn't make any move to come to his aid at all. Seeing there was no point fighting, Gabe reluctantly allowed himself to be pushed by the men. At the doorway, Gabe looked back at his friends. They still made no move. He sighed and walked out. It was almost midnight. Christabel emerged from the taxi when it arrived at the rental apartment building. After paying the taxi driver, she turned and looked at the building. She frowned. This was Brian's old apartment building. She wondered where Brian lived now. Probably somewhere rich. Hmph, lucky him. She thought. She tucked some strands of hair behind before walking in. She climbed the stairs to the next floor and headed to apartment 25 and knocked on the door. "I'll be there in a minute." Margaret's voice responded from inside. Some minutes later, the door opened. "Welcome, Christa." Margaret beamed at her. Christabel became dumbstruck at Margaret's new appearance. Her dark skin seemed to have become lighter, almost fair. Her hairstyle was now a round afro hairstyle. Makeup beautified her face greatly. Two gold round earrings hung on her ears and she wore a crop top and bum shorts. "Are you coming in?" Margaret's voice snapped out of her daze. "Uh...yeah." Christabr got a hold of her

Brian wondered what awaited him at the manor. He was elated to see his mother but what of his father? He hadn't spoken to him for about a month. Wouldn't it be awkward? Richard walked up to him and patted Brian's shoulder. "Welcome to the Addams Manor, kiddo." Brian gazed with amazement. How can this magnificence be secluded in an isolated place like this? No one should be deprived of this magnificence. It's like walking into a castle. "Brian, your jaw is practically on the ground," Richard told him. Brian closed his mouth before drool could slide out. "This is amazing." He couldn't believe he was going to own this one day. "Yeah. I'll give you a tour around tomorrow. Let's go in. Everyone must be waiting for us." They walked past the hedges to the front door. It was a large double gold metal door with a lion's face design on it. Two guards stood beside the door. They opened the door for them to walk into the entrance hallway. The hallway was large, and dimly lit, with a red carpet covering the floor. The left wall held portraits of abstract art while the right displayed portraits of different men. Brian guessed the men were from the Addams

"You have a nice manor," Brian remarked as they made their way upstairs. Edward hummed. "Hmm-mmm. I built this one since our last one was destroyed." "Destroyed? How?" "Bombing." Brian paused as his mind processed something. "Was it the bombing that...killed our family?" Edward nodded. Brian pursed his lips and remained silent. Edward started. "Well, there are lots of rooms in the house, so let's get started. Brian agreed. Starting from the top, Edward began the tour in the manor. He showed him the rooftop which had a low brick wall around it to prevent anyone from falling. Then he proceeded inside and showed him each room. The top floor occupied his study. It was just like the study at Richard's mansion, only that this one was wider and had more books. After the study was the weapons room, where weapons, mostly guns, were kept. Brian was amazed by the sight of the different types of guns – revolvers, pistols, revolvers, shotguns, and the like – hung on hooks attache

The backyard wasn't your typical backyard, whether common or wealthy. It was more like a military training area. The backyard was filled with different training equipment and facilities. It was like an outdoor version of the training rooms, only wider. Edward said this was the main training area, where everyone comes to train together. The area was brimming with training activities. Different groups trained in different areas, either hand-to-hand combat, sword fighting, gun shooting, and the rest. There were about twenty people in the area now.The perimeter of the training area was marked out by one-step bricks. Beyond the training area, two buildings were constructed, one in each corner of the fence. Brian noticed that the building on the left was too small for someone to do anything inside. Two guards stood by this building.Brian followed Edward as he walked behind the row of Grey Guardians practicing gun shooting. None of them missed their target dummies. They seemed so good at
