Chapter 61
While this was going on, Aria and Leon headed back to the garage where they had parked their car. Dean and Emma were already there waiting for them. Dean rolled down the window and yelled at Aria when he saw her, “Do you have any idea how long we’ve been waiting for you?” Emma got into the backseat without sparing Aria and Leon a glance. “Your brother didn’t like the oil they used in making the foods at the cafeteria, so he hasn’t eaten anything since morning. Hurry up and get us back to the hotel so I can make dinner for him.” “Sorry to keep you waiting, mother. Dean.” Aria apologized as she got into the passenger front seat. Leon got into the driver’s seat and started the car. Dean ignored Aria’s apology and asked instead, “Were you able to do it? Were you able to meet with Grant Wyatt?” Aria nodded as she fastened her seatbelt around herself, “Yes, he said to send him the proposal as soon as I get home. He promised to look into it. If it’s good enough, we will see it on the

Aria couldn’t sleep that night as she was too nervous about the listing. Grant Wyatt was obviously a busy man. Which meant he’d have a lot of emails. Important emails. Overlooking the email of a mere candidate from a small family like hers wouldn’t surprise her. When Emma woke up that morning and went to the kitchen to get coffee, she found Aria shuffling around the kitchen. “What are you doing in the kitchen so early in the morning, Aria?” “Good morning, mom. I just thought I’d make coffee for you since I woke up early today and have nothing to do.” Aria said as she picked up a coffee capsule and placed it into the coffee machine “Coffee for me? When was the last time you made coffee for me?” Emma asked in confusion as she watched her reach for a coffee cup. Aria said nothing and just dropped the cup under the mouth of the machine before turning it on. When it got filled, she handed the cup of coffee to Emma and left without another word. She went to the room the same time

Aria walked down the stairs to find Emma and Dean holding onto their phone nervously. Even Dean who liked to eat was too nervous to touch his food. The only people eating without a care were Leon and Anthony. Leon wasn’t supposed to know what was happening and since the only person he cared about wasn’t worried, he wasn’t worried. Dean raised his eyes towards the stairs and saw Aria down. He hurriedly got up from his seat and rushed towards her. “Are you sure your proposal will get accepted? Mr. Wyatt took a liking to you, right? So he’d surely have the Miller Group listed, right?” Emma got up from her seat as well and walked towards them worriedly. “I’ve never heard of a company’s name being listed after meeting with Grant Wyatt.” “Are you sure the man you met was really him? Mia and Ryan could have pulled a fast one on us because we got to stay in this penthouse instead of them.” Aria shook her head as she walked past them to sit beside Leon. “I confirmed the o

“What do you think you’re doing, Emma?” Joseph tried to keep his emotions in check, but the fury in his voice couldn’t be hidden as he glared hard at her. “I’ve not seen him before.” Theo casually butted in when his eyes settled on Anthony, who had his eyes lowered to his phone. “He is Aria’s father and my father’s elder brother. He’s incompetent, so he doesn’t have a place in the Miller Group.” Mia quickly replied, not forgetting to degrade him as she did. Theo’s eyes lit up slightly and he dramatically got up on his feet and slightly bent his face towards the ground. “It’s nice to meet you, Mr. Miller. I’m Theo Humphrey.” Usually, when he did this, he would get praised for being polite and a gentleman which was rare to see in people his age. However, Anthony didn’t bother to look up at him and just kept staring at the phone in his hand. The awkward silence from him caused Theo’s ears to redden from the embarrassment. Emma grimaced from across the table while Dean, who was

Leon tore his eyes away from Jeff and settled it on the food in front of him. Without warning, he suddenly looked at Theo and his cheeks stretched into a gentle smile.“Mr. Humphrey, do you really not remember the way Mr. Wyatt’s manager kept pushing you away when you said you knew him?”“When you finally got his attention and asked him if he knew you, he said he didn’t. So why are you keeping silent when you should be telling everyone here the truth?” “Or is Mr. Humphrey too ashamed to admit that he was bluffing when he told the Miller family that he was close with Mr. Wyatt?” Theo hadn’t anticipated he’d be outrightly dragged into the conversation. He was relaxed seeing how Ryan and Joseph refused to believe what Anthony Miller said. Furthermore, Mia was on his side and from the looks of it, Aria wasn’t ready to tell them the truth which assured him his lie wouldn’t be revealed. When he was silent for over ten seconds, Leon giggled and lowered his eyes to the table again. “Mr.

When the video ended, Mia and her family stood rooted to the spot in disbelief. Dean was only stunned for a brief moment before the uncultured man burst into a mocking laughter. “Hey, Ryan, how could you be fooled by this fraud? My God! I haven’t laughed this much in a long time!” Emma, who had been nervous a few minutes ago, chuckled quietly before she turned to Joseph and feigned sadness. “You shouldn’t be too disappointed, Joseph. He may have lied about being close with Grant Wyatt, but he’s from a billionaire family in Westwood.” Ryan scoffed at her words. “Don’t be smug with us, Aunt Emma. At least my sister will be marrying into a billionaire family. She’ll be the daughter-in-law of a billionaire!” Dean chuckled and couldn’t help saying, “Yeah, right. She’s getting married to an abusive man who didn’t mind slapping her in a restaurant full of people. No, thanks, I’m fine with an idiot like Leon who adores my sister.” Mia’s face flushed in embarrassment while Theo remained

“No! No, you won’t do such a thing!” Mia didn’t know when she shot up from her seat and yelled. “Don’t you dare!” Theo didn’t know when he panicked. Dean turned to Leon and nodded proudly. “That’s a brilliant idea, Leon. Do it.” “Aria, tell him not to. We know he only listens to you.” Mia swallowed, sounding really desperate. Joseph thought of something and suggested, “I said I’d tell your grandmother about how your brother and mother did nothing as the hotel attendants harassed us when you won the penthouse in the lottery” “However, if you delete the video and the recording, i will not talk about what happened here today.” “In fact, even if our Miller Group doesn’t get an investment, I’ll defend you in front of your grandmother.” Aria’s eyes darted to every corner of the restaurant except to the faces of her family. She soon tilted her head to look at Dean, but he quickly moved the phone away from her reach and shook his head. “Forgive me, Aria, but I’m not giving you the v

“He’s the man who kept saying he knew Grant Wyatt yesterday?” “What? When did that happen?” “After the program yesterday, I was having lunch in the restaurant on the 40th floor of Kings Technology Group’s building when I saw saw him shouting that he knew Grant Wyatt to.” “That sounds embarrassing. How did he have the cheek to show his face in such a public place this morning?” Theo gritted his teeth tightly as the customers behind him laughed amonst themselves. They had quickly forgotten all the compliments they have him some minutes ago and didn’t bother to reduce the volume of their voice. On the other hand, Theo was too ashamed to defend himself. So he kept his eyes lowered to the floor in shame. Dean leaned back on his seat and shouted at Theo from across the table, “Mr. Humphrey, the sooner you apologize, the sooner you get up from the floor.” Bang!Mia suddenly slammed her palm loudly on the table and shot up from her seat.“That’s enough! Theo has done enough already by

Jeff’s eyes darkened. He turned to look at Theo Humphrey and frowned deeply. “What?” Theo arrogantly slipped his hands into his pocket as well before he retorted. “From what I understand, the Miller family will give this retard to anyone who will clear their debt with the bank.” Jeff Larol stared at him for several seconds before he chuckled calmly. “Why does a liar like you think you’re in the position to bargain with me?” “Wh-what did you just call me?” As he spoke, Theo flexed his arms to grab Jeff by the collar, but the man grasped his hands firmly and shoved him down on the table, his face falling directly into an apple pie. The customers in the restaurant gasped in shock then giggled in amusement. Now that it was Jeff doing this, no one in the Miller family dared to say anything in fear of angering him. So they all stood aside and did nothing. “Unless the Miller family no longer needs my help with the bank, Leon Bartlett better walk out of here with me.” Jeff said with

Chapter 70
In a warehouse in the suburbs, men rushed around moving as many boxes as they could into vans. They worked quickly and in less than ten minutes, they had loaded all five vans with one hundred boxes each. Then they got into the vans, getting ready to drive away. They had just driven to the gates when heavy trucks suddenly blocked their way out and thugs with bulging muscles walked out of it holding iron pipes. When the men in the vans saw them, they shuddered in fear and reversed out of the warehouse through the back gate. However, the first van had just driven out of the back gate when a truck roughly stopped in front of him, blocking his path. Three other trucks lined up behind it. Now the vans were confined inside, with nowhere to go. The man in the first van shakily took out his phone and made a call. “He-hello, sir. They’re here again. Those people are…arghh!” The phone fell out of his hand when the door to the van was suddenly yanked open and a fearsome thug dragged him ou
