A Bastard Would Rule the Empire!

The Porsche drove into the gates of Wayne's luxurious mansion to stop in the garage, between the Lexus and the Mercedes Benz.

Wayne stepped down from the car, still a little apprehensive. His mind was still gnawing around the fact that he had a daughter with Loretta.

He hadn't imagined that the brief time they stayed together before he disappeared could foster a child.

But then seeing her made him want to hug her tight and protect her from all sort of pain in this life.

He looked around, the house had a very big field with a fountain and a swimming pool at the back.

Wayne walked up the stairs with Mark beside him.

4 days ago, when he was planning his trip back, he'd contacted a real estate realtor to get a house for him with high security.

This house was the only one suitable, located in BirdsView Estate, one of the most expensive housing estates in Las Vegas.

Wayne hadn't had time to go in and through it but he knew it contained 20 rooms, 3 sitting rooms and others.

But glancing round the house now, it felt a lonely and lifeless with only him.

"What's out next plan now?" Mark asked him, flopping on the couch.

"I'm moving into the Moore's residence." Wayne replied, rushing into his bedroom instantly.

Mark came running after him the next second. "What you mean by moving into the Moore's residence?"

"You heard me right!" Wayne yanked his travelling box put and began to arrange clothes in it.

"Thoae people are crazy, Wayne! Have you forgotten that they almost beat you up before I got there? How would you be able to stand their constant attacks and criticisms?"

Wayne paid him no attention, just kept piling things in his box.

"Listen to me," Mark tried to stop him."If you're doing this because of your revenge, you can't go there. They would keep mocking that you're a bastard and everyone down to their servants would maltreat you, Wayne."

"I'm going there to be with my family, now that I discovered that I have a daughter, I can't imagine being a day away from her."

"You and I know how cunning Anna Moore is, once she finds out your real identity, she wouldn't spare you!"

Wayne paused, his eyes lightning up in fury. "I'll make them pay for murdering my parents. Yes! And right under their noses, a bastard would rule the empire!"

When Mark saw the resolute look in his eyes, he didn't bother trying to convince him again. Wayne's mind was already made up.

Mark accepted his reality and hurried behind Lucas out of the house. “You’re leaving right now?”

“Yes,” Lucas turned back to glance at him. “Please take care of the house for me, and resist the urge to pop up at the Moore’s residence unannounced.” Wayne gave one last instruction and turned to walk away.

“Wait,” Mark went after him. His heart was hammering and he had mixed feelings concerning the fact that Wayne was walking right into the Lion’s den. No one knew what Anna Moore was capable of.

“I’ll drop you off at the junction, and then you can take a cab.” Mark offered with a sigh. “You don’t want them having suspicions when you step out in a Porsche.” He quickly added when Wayne raised a brow.

“Alright,” Wayne hopped in at once.

On the way, Wayne spoke up. “You really don’t have to do this, Mark, You had a better future back as leader of the Association, you can get a job or-”

“No, Wayne. I just want to be by your side in good and bad times and enjoy the satisfaction of watching you defeat all your enemies!” Mark cut him off with a determined expression.

“Alright, make sure you take care of the mansion pending my return,” Wayne’s tone turned cold as he looked out the windows. “I’ll gather as much evidence as I can under 2 months.”

“I trust you.” Mark replied.

No other words were exchanged as the Porsche sped like a bolt of lightning through the highway of Las Vegas.

Soon, they arrived at the bus stop close to the Moore’s residence. After dropping Wayne off, Mark quickly sped off.

Wayne hailed a cab that dropped him in front of the official Moore residence. He felt a wave of de ja vu just by walking across the courtyard.

This was the house his parents lived in when he returned from Canada 5 years ago, his father had gotten it for him to celebrate his graduation with flying colors. It was the house he was supposed to live in with his wife and parents as a happy family.

Wayne felt an immense pain in his heart but he waved off the sad thoughts, making his way in with luggage in both hands.

Fedora was the first to notice him when he stepped into the living room.

“What’re you doing here?” Her tiny, screeching voice called out, alerting others in the room to the new comer.

Aleena was the only family member present, the rest of them were helpers and staffs, all unwrapping several birthday presents.

“Oh, here comes the good for nothing wastrel!” Aleena rolled her eyes when she saw him. She dropped the gift in her hands and charged toward him, mockery written on her face.

“After Mother let you go at the party, you have the guts to come back here with these filthy luggage? Where do you think you’re coming to stay in this house? We would rather take in homeless children on the streets than let you stay here! So, listen up. There’s no space there for you, hurry up and get lost!”

Wayne’s gaze turned cold but he gave her no reply.

“Are you deaf?” Aleena yelled at him when her screaming elicited no response.

At this moment, Nikki was escorting one of her friends that came visiting out, they were laughing and telling each other goodbyes until her gaze landed on Wayne and her face turned sullen.

The friend caught her line of sight and was stunned, “Who’s that young man? He’s so handsome, though shabbily dressed.”

Nikki huffed in disgust. “He’s the loser that got married to Loretta 5 years ago, Wayne Costa. The rascal disappeared only to return now to want her again, Can you imagine? He’s such a loser and a big disappointment!”

Julia shook her head in pity. “He would make such a good bedmate.” She smirked, not minding the fact that the object of their gossip was right beside them.

Nikki’s eyes snorted when she saw his luggage. “Look! The miser can’t even afford basic rent, now he has to move back in here with his in-laws!”

“What a shame of a man! Other men are trying so hard to get his wife to marry them, her loser of a husband can’t even afford good clothes?” Nikki shook her head in irritation.

“Poor Loretta.” Julia scorned and made her way out the house.

Aleena had been distracted when a staff walked up to her, so she was shocked when she turned around to see Wayne still standing there, looking as resolute as ever.

“Scoundrel!” She stepped forward to lash out at him. “Didn’t I just say you should leave? What’re you still doing here?”
