Just A Miserly Mechanic!

“I had no idea you were coming, Mr Costa, please forgive me for not coming to receive you right on time!” Henry cowered guiltily, bowing in front of Wayne.

The guests in the lobby gasped in shock. Why would the General Manger bow down to someone dressed in mechanic clothes? Could this man be the Ghost CEO?

A shiver ran down the spine of the guards at the thought that this man they just insulted could be the CEO.

Thinking in the same line, Jad took the courage to walk up to Henry. “Mr Hafford, what’re you doing? He’s just a miserly mechanic that came to beg for scraps, why are you treating him so reverently?”

“What?” Henry raised his fists to smack Jad across the face.

The slap was so resounding that the lobby fell into silence.

“Did you just call Mr Costa a miserly mechanic? Do you have an idea who he is?” Henry raged out in anger.

He’d been trying his best to impress Wayne with his managerial skills and convince him, only for his staffs to end up treating him badly.

“I. . .I’m sorry, sir.” Jad cowered away, holding his red face. “I had no idea who he is.”

Henry rushed up to grab his collar. “You lowlife! Mr Costa is the owner of-”

“That’s enough, Henry.” Wayne’s cold voice came forth. He walked up to place his hand on Henry’s shoulder, a sign for him to behave.

“I’m just a close friend of Henry’s, nothing more.” Wayne said, looking into Henry’s eyes to give him the signal. He couldn’t risk revealing his identity as the owner of the company just because of some riff raffs.

“Y. . .Yes sir.” Henry trembled, letting Jad go. “Mr Costa is my close f. . .friend. How dare you try to molest him?”

“We’re really sorry, sir.” The guards who had been on the sidelines fell to their feet in fear. Turns out he wasn’t the CEO, but the manager’s friend!

“We spoke out in stupidity, please forgive us.” They trembled in terror, but Henry’s face had settled into hard lines.

“I have always giving you trainings on how to treat customers, whether they are well dressed, rude or not, but you refused to learn. Today you’re gonna pay for your mistakes!” Henry signaled the muscular bodyguards Jad summoned earlier.

“Beat them up!”

“P. . . Please, spare us,” the guards stuttered in fear trying to touch Henry’s legs but he brutally kicked them off.

“This is what you get for treating people badly!”

Jad gritted his teeth, sweat dripping down his forehead. “I’m really sorry sir. Please forgive me for my rash words!” He rushed to plea with Wayne.

He didn’t want to get beaten up like these guards. Besides, he had no idea who this man really is. Grandfather would kill him if he ends up offending a big shot.

“I’m really sorry, sir. Please forgive me, I spoke like an idiot earlier.” Jad pleaded, his hands clasped in front of him and his legs trembling at every shriek of pain the men beside him gave.

“Are you really?” Wayne snickered, a sinister expression on his face. “Weren’t you the one who was bragging on how you would break my bone just now?”

“I-” Jad swallowed hard. He’d actually said those things in arrogance, not knowing the man in front of him was an important figure. “I was only speaking rashly, I’m really sorry sir.”

Henry pulled Jad away from Wayne. “You insulted my friend so I’m the one to deal with it!” He yelled at him “Rascal! Go on, take back your statement and apologize to everyone here!”

Jad gritted his teeth. It was bad enough to be pleading with this man in front of so many people, now Henry wants him to apologize? If he ever finds out that this man turns out to be from a low tier family, he would kill him!

Jad turned around to face the customers that crowded the hallway. New customers, buyers and clients had all stopped to watch the commotion.

“We’re very sorry for this scuffle occurring in front of the company,” Jad cleared his throat. “I was actually on a call when Mr Costa-” He paused. “No, I mean, I bumped into Mr Costa and then we got into a minor exchange of words. I really didn’t mean to offend him nor disrupt the normal day processes, please forgive me.” Jad bowed earnestly.

“You heard it all, People. We’re really sorry for this disruption. Please go about your normal activities.” Henry added. And after a while, most of them dispersed.

Wayne was impressed with Henry’s skills at managing crisis.

“Take them out!” Henry ordered the muscular men, pointing to the sweaty gatemen on the floor groaning in pain, they were so beaten they couldn’t move.

“And you!” He turned to face Jad. “I found you and promoted you cause of your talent, but you’ve proven to me that talent is useless without character. You’re hereby demoted to your former position, Head of Maintenance!”

“W. . .What?” Jad gasped in shock.

When the company got acquired by the Ghost CEO, most members of the Wilson family had been sacked, but Henry reinstated him cause of his hard-work and talent.

In a second, all his work over the years had gone down the drain.

“You better be careful, I might not be this gracious next time!” Henry hollered at him. He turned to face Wayne with a calm expression. “Once again, I’m sorry, sir. I hope you don’t hold this against me in future.”

Those that saw Henry’s attitude to Wayne had a feeling that there was something else Henry wasn’t telling. Why was he treating Mr Costa so reverently if he’s only a friend?

“It’s okay.” Wayne patted him in reassurance. “You handled the situation well.”

And relief washed all over Henry’s face. “This way, sir.” He bowed again, taking the lead to the lift.

The lifts closed and the all other on-lookers dispersed but Jad was still standing there in shock, unable to take in all what he just heard.

He clenched his jaw so hard.

Who the fuck was this man? Why hadn’t he heard his name before?

One of the helpers rushed up to him with a phone. “Look, Mr Wilson.” He handed Jad his phone excitedly. “I just found out who that mysterious man with Mr Hafford is!”

“He’s Simon Costa’s son, Wayne Costa, who got married into the Moore family 4 years ago, he disappeared shortly after but I heard he just returned to the Moore family to claim his father’s properties. “The helper’s eyes lit up in mockery. “They threw him out cause he’s a bastard!”

“What?” Jad’s face paled.

His head banged so hard and he felt like vomiting blood. Did he just lose his position cause of a wastrel?

“Yes, he’s now the lowly son-in-law of the Moore family, plus, the bastard works as a mechanic!”

Jad smashed the phone on the floor in anger. “What the hell?”

His informant scrambled to the floor in apprehension to gather the pieces. “S. . .Sir, you smashed my phone?”

“Get lost!” Jad screamed and he scurried away in fear.

Jad returned to his office in anger, he grabbed the flower vase from the table and smashed it to the floor. How dare Henry humiliate him in front of so many people all because of that miserable son in law?

He gritted his teeth so hard it bled.

Wayne Costa?

He would surely exact his revenge!
