“I had no idea you were coming, Mr Costa, please forgive me for not coming to receive you right on time!” Henry cowered guiltily, bowing in front of Wayne.
The guests in the lobby gasped in shock. Why would the General Manger bow down to someone dressed in mechanic clothes? Could this man be the Ghost CEO?
A shiver ran down the spine of the guards at the thought that this man they just insulted could be the CEO.
Thinking in the same line, Jad took the courage to walk up to Henry. “Mr Hafford, what’re you doing? He’s just a miserly mechanic that came to beg for scraps, why are you treating him so reverently?”
“What?” Henry raised his fists to smack Jad across the face.
The slap was so resounding that the lobby fell into silence.
“Did you just call Mr Costa a miserly mechanic? Do you have an idea who he is?” Henry raged out in anger.
He’d been trying his best to impress Wayne with his managerial skills and convince him, only for his staffs to end up treating him badly.
“I. . .I’m sorry, sir.” Jad cowered away, holding his red face. “I had no idea who he is.”
Henry rushed up to grab his collar. “You lowlife! Mr Costa is the owner of-”
“That’s enough, Henry.” Wayne’s cold voice came forth. He walked up to place his hand on Henry’s shoulder, a sign for him to behave.
“I’m just a close friend of Henry’s, nothing more.” Wayne said, looking into Henry’s eyes to give him the signal. He couldn’t risk revealing his identity as the owner of the company just because of some riff raffs.
“Y. . .Yes sir.” Henry trembled, letting Jad go. “Mr Costa is my close f. . .friend. How dare you try to molest him?”
“We’re really sorry, sir.” The guards who had been on the sidelines fell to their feet in fear. Turns out he wasn’t the CEO, but the manager’s friend!
“We spoke out in stupidity, please forgive us.” They trembled in terror, but Henry’s face had settled into hard lines.
“I have always giving you trainings on how to treat customers, whether they are well dressed, rude or not, but you refused to learn. Today you’re gonna pay for your mistakes!” Henry signaled the muscular bodyguards Jad summoned earlier.
“Beat them up!”
“P. . . Please, spare us,” the guards stuttered in fear trying to touch Henry’s legs but he brutally kicked them off.
“This is what you get for treating people badly!”
Jad gritted his teeth, sweat dripping down his forehead. “I’m really sorry sir. Please forgive me for my rash words!” He rushed to plea with Wayne.
He didn’t want to get beaten up like these guards. Besides, he had no idea who this man really is. Grandfather would kill him if he ends up offending a big shot.
“I’m really sorry, sir. Please forgive me, I spoke like an idiot earlier.” Jad pleaded, his hands clasped in front of him and his legs trembling at every shriek of pain the men beside him gave.
“Are you really?” Wayne snickered, a sinister expression on his face. “Weren’t you the one who was bragging on how you would break my bone just now?”
“I-” Jad swallowed hard. He’d actually said those things in arrogance, not knowing the man in front of him was an important figure. “I was only speaking rashly, I’m really sorry sir.”
Henry pulled Jad away from Wayne. “You insulted my friend so I’m the one to deal with it!” He yelled at him “Rascal! Go on, take back your statement and apologize to everyone here!”
Jad gritted his teeth. It was bad enough to be pleading with this man in front of so many people, now Henry wants him to apologize? If he ever finds out that this man turns out to be from a low tier family, he would kill him!
Jad turned around to face the customers that crowded the hallway. New customers, buyers and clients had all stopped to watch the commotion.
“We’re very sorry for this scuffle occurring in front of the company,” Jad cleared his throat. “I was actually on a call when Mr Costa-” He paused. “No, I mean, I bumped into Mr Costa and then we got into a minor exchange of words. I really didn’t mean to offend him nor disrupt the normal day processes, please forgive me.” Jad bowed earnestly.
“You heard it all, People. We’re really sorry for this disruption. Please go about your normal activities.” Henry added. And after a while, most of them dispersed.
Wayne was impressed with Henry’s skills at managing crisis.
“Take them out!” Henry ordered the muscular men, pointing to the sweaty gatemen on the floor groaning in pain, they were so beaten they couldn’t move.
“And you!” He turned to face Jad. “I found you and promoted you cause of your talent, but you’ve proven to me that talent is useless without character. You’re hereby demoted to your former position, Head of Maintenance!”
“W. . .What?” Jad gasped in shock.
When the company got acquired by the Ghost CEO, most members of the Wilson family had been sacked, but Henry reinstated him cause of his hard-work and talent.
In a second, all his work over the years had gone down the drain.
“You better be careful, I might not be this gracious next time!” Henry hollered at him. He turned to face Wayne with a calm expression. “Once again, I’m sorry, sir. I hope you don’t hold this against me in future.”
Those that saw Henry’s attitude to Wayne had a feeling that there was something else Henry wasn’t telling. Why was he treating Mr Costa so reverently if he’s only a friend?
“It’s okay.” Wayne patted him in reassurance. “You handled the situation well.”
And relief washed all over Henry’s face. “This way, sir.” He bowed again, taking the lead to the lift.
The lifts closed and the all other on-lookers dispersed but Jad was still standing there in shock, unable to take in all what he just heard.
He clenched his jaw so hard.
Who the fuck was this man? Why hadn’t he heard his name before?
One of the helpers rushed up to him with a phone. “Look, Mr Wilson.” He handed Jad his phone excitedly. “I just found out who that mysterious man with Mr Hafford is!”
“He’s Simon Costa’s son, Wayne Costa, who got married into the Moore family 4 years ago, he disappeared shortly after but I heard he just returned to the Moore family to claim his father’s properties. “The helper’s eyes lit up in mockery. “They threw him out cause he’s a bastard!”
“What?” Jad’s face paled.
His head banged so hard and he felt like vomiting blood. Did he just lose his position cause of a wastrel?
“Yes, he’s now the lowly son-in-law of the Moore family, plus, the bastard works as a mechanic!”
Jad smashed the phone on the floor in anger. “What the hell?”
His informant scrambled to the floor in apprehension to gather the pieces. “S. . .Sir, you smashed my phone?”
“Get lost!” Jad screamed and he scurried away in fear.
Jad returned to his office in anger, he grabbed the flower vase from the table and smashed it to the floor. How dare Henry humiliate him in front of so many people all because of that miserable son in law?
He gritted his teeth so hard it bled.
Wayne Costa?
He would surely exact his revenge!
The Porsche drove into the gates of Wayne's luxurious mansion to stop in the garage, between the Lexus and the Mercedes Benz.Wayne stepped down from the car, still a little apprehensive. His mind was still gnawing around the fact that he had a daughter with Loretta. He hadn't imagined that the brief time they stayed together before he disappeared could foster a child. But then seeing her made him want to hug her tight and protect her from all sort of pain in this life.He looked around, the house had a very big field with a fountain and a swimming pool at the back.Wayne walked up the stairs with Mark beside him.4 days ago, when he was planning his trip back, he'd contacted a real estate realtor to get a house for him with high security. This house was the only one suitable, located in BirdsView Estate, one of the most expensive housing estates in Las Vegas.Wayne hadn't had time to go in and through it but he knew it contained 20 rooms, 3 sitting rooms and others. But glancing roun
“I’m going nowhere.” Wayne replied coldly, picking up his luggage and making his way to the center of the room, pausing to glance at the artworks on the wall.None of the cushions, nor furniture, paintings of even artworks that were originally placed by his father had been changed. The Moore’s were really shameless! He thought back and wondered what his father saw in them to become friends with the then helmsman, Mathias.Mathias was a straightforward and honest man but he suddenly died of stroke and was secretly buried a day later, making Wayne wonder what else the Moore’s were hiding especially that woman.“How dare you walk into this house uninvited? Does it look like we welcome every beggar on the street? It would be better you walk out with your miserable legs before we break them for you!” Nikki was outraged when she returned and met Wayne staring down at contempt at the family pictures on the wall.Wayne paid no heed to her words, he only turned to give her a sinister smile. “Y
Wayne only chuckled and balanced Elsa on his legs. “This is my father’s house so I’m going nowhere.”“Really? Daddy? You’re going to be staying with us for a while?” Elsa raised her head up to ask.“Yes, Princess.”“Elsa!” Anna scowled immediately, a bitter sensation rising up her throat cause of the loving father daughter relationship playing out between them.“Get away from that man this instant!”“No.” Elsa looked back at Anna with teary eyes. “He’s my Daddy and I won’t leave him.”All of them stared wide eyes at Elsa, wondering when she got the audacity to talk back at her Grandma.“You can’t blame the little brat, Loretta has always been bias towards teaching her manners!” Aleena rolled her eyes angrily. “Her mother is the kind of person that wouldn’t hesitate to backbite the whole family. So I can imagine her daughter refusing to listen because of a bastard!”“Elsa, dear.” Fedora tried to coax her away from him. She was the only one that spoke softly to Elsa in the whole family,
“Aunt,” Loretta sighed tiredly. “I can’t-”“You can’t do what?” Nikki snorted aloud. “You can’t get married to Brad Brooks? Is that what you’re saying, Loretta? I can’t believe you would dare to refuse Mother’s orders. Have you forgotten I helped you keep your horrible secrets?”Loretta’s face paled. “Nikki, there’s no need for-“Anna flipped her cold gaze on Nikki. “What are you talking about?”“Loretta’s restaurant has run into loads of debt!” She spat out the secret without thinking twice. “The reason why she rushed out earlier was to try to stop Mike Taylor from vandalizing her kitchen equipment!” “What?” Everyone’s gaze zeroed in on Loretta. Before Loretta got married to Wayne, she already had a restaurant that was doing quite well, but after he left, she got affected psychologically and the business suffered. Gary offered to help her manage it and placed one of his friends there but the place only got worse because the man embezzled all the money and escaped. The news made Lore
Wayne bent to pick her up, wiping the tears that had formed at the side of her eyes, she must have been listening to the whole conversation all along. He nuzzled her hair, his daughter was the only one that wanted him.Loretta’s eyes glazed over when she saw how much her precious daughter was clinging to him. Elsa had always suffered bullying in school, wherever she went she was always accused of being the jinx that made her father abandon them. Her poor daughter wasn’t even spared by her own family members, Aleena and Nikki wouldn’t fail to lash out at her, reminding her of her father abandonment at every little occasion.Loretta felt so bitter in her heart. The best thing she could do was not take Wayne away from her again.Gray harrumphed in disgust. “Mother, what’s all these drama going on here? Why haven’t you thrown this piece of garbage out of the mansion?”“Exactly! The sight of this man makes me want to throw up,” Fedora seconded her father. “How can someone be so poorly dres
“I’m glad you honor your word.” Wayne smirked, placing the wad of cash on the center table. He turned around to see the women glaring maliciously at him, they were so angry that their throat filled with blood.Nikki gritted her teeth, glaring at Wayne in hatred. After all she’d done to make him leave? He still managed to stay back here? She was going to frustrate him and make his life miserable.Anna’s intense gaze zeroed in on him. “I want to see the both of you in the study, right now!” She ordered, tearing her gaze away from Wayne and beckoning Gray behind her.Wayne reached out to pull Elsa into his arms. “Baby, Daddy’s not going away okay?” He murmured and wiped the tears that were still on her cheeks.“I wouldn’t be so elated if I were you.” Aleena snorted, rolling her eyes in contempt. “Elsa darling, let’s see how long your father can last in this house.” She hissed loudly and stormed off.Fedora followed right behind her mother after casting a look of disdain at them.Nikki sc
“No worries, Uncle. We’ll work something out!” Loretta tried to stutter but Gary kept screaming at her.“Shut up! How dare you disobey Mother’s order to divorce him? Have you forgotten all what this man made you go through?”Gary had lost his temper again and his fingers were beginning to dig into her shoulders as he yanked her slender frame around.“Let go of her right now!” Wayne demanded, clamping his hands around Gary’s grip.He forcefully yanked Gary’s hands off, pushing him back. “I’ve warned you several times not to lay a hand on my wife! Haven’t I?” Wayne shot him a very deadly gaze."What can an imbecile like you do to me? I’m speaking to her not you, get lost!" Gary hollered at him."You!" Wayne grabbed his collar. "You keep getting on my nerves, eh?"Gary's eyes reddened in rage. "How dare you speak down at me?" He raised his fists to hit Wayne."Enough!" Anna's thunderous voice stopped the both of them from getting into a scuffle.“Wayne. Is this how your parents taught yo
Wayne tried to console his daughter. "It's okay, Princess."Nikki snickered. "Elsa dear. That's what you get for taking the side of this wretched man! No chicken for you and your daddy!"Nikki chuckled as her words made Elsa wail louder.Loretta's face was already red in anger. What sort of person provokes a child like this?"If you can't help her, at least don’t make her feel worse, Nikki." She snapped hostilely. He stood up. "Let's go." Wayne took Elsa into his arms, whispering soothing words to her.Loretta cast him a questioning gaze."It's better to go to bed on an empty stomach than eat this soup. It was probably made from rotten vegetables."Ignoring the snickers, Loretta stood up, following behind Wayne out of the dining. When they got to her room, Wayne bent to place Elsa on the bed but she clung to him. "Daddy, I want to eat chicken.""Elsa," Loretta sighed, opening the small locker beside the bed. "I have some bread and milk here." She produced half loaf of bread and a smal
