Kendrick paced nervously around the room, his thoughts a chaotic whirl. The heavy door creaked open, and his father walked in with a confident stride, flanked by two imposing guards. Kendrick turned to face them, his brow furrowing in curiosity.

Then she appeared.

"But" he stuttered, "How is this a surprise, Dad?" He asked, calling him out of the sitting room.

His father smiled, he had prepared Ivy Knaver to be his son's future wife, and to him this was the main time to show her off.

"That's a perfect woman for you, my son." He replied with a wide grin.

Kendrick's heart throbbed, "...but you should have discussed this with me, Dad." He mumbled.

"Really?" His father asked, his brow furrowed slightly. " Have you forgotten this lady?" He asked.

"That's not the point, Dad… at least you should have informed me of it first before arranging this."

Holding him out of the sitting room, his father whispered gently. "Son, this is a woman I had preserved for you since when you left home."
