Kendrick stood outside the Knaver residence, anxiety twisting in his stomach. The house was a charming, old Victorian with a wraparound porch, the garden bursting with colorful flowers. He took a deep breath, reminding himself to stay calm. This was an opportunity to get to know Sophia’s family and to show them who he really was.

As he approached the door, it swung open to reveal Sophia's mother, a warm, welcoming woman with an easy smile. “Kendrick! So nice to finally meet you!” she exclaimed, pulling him into a brief hug.

“Thanks for having me,” he replied, trying to mirror her warmth.

Sophia soon appeared from the hallway, her expression a mix of excitement and nervousness. “Hey, you made it,” she said, relief evident in her voice.

“Of course,” he responded, stepping closer to her. “I wouldn’t miss it.”

Sophia’s father joined them, a tall man with a friendly demeanor. “Kendrick! I’ve heard a lot about you. Sophia talks about you all the time.”
