Adrian jerked with fear, he turned around and saw guns pointed at him, his heart raced, slamming against his chest. He'd never seen a gun up close in his life. In fact he's never been caught speeding before or doing something as mundane as shoplifting. The closest he had ever been to a gun was when Lady Barbara wanted to call the police on him and her officers were at the gate to pick him up when Mr Brooke intervened. But currently he had several kinds of guns pointed at him. “Oh my God,” he thought. He didn't know his next line of action for that moment. He looked at the man, Mr Blood's face and he saw how he was watching him with scrutiny, it was at that moment a hit of his confidence came back.“You want to kill me?” He asked, but then chuckled. “Just so you know I didn't come alone, I am just the conduit to a really powerful man who doesn't want to be bothered with such a task as this. If I do not walk out of here alive, he is going to personally come down here to put you out of
Adrian shuddered. “Two Packets?” He inquired in a confused manner. He had never heard of a currency called packets. He stared at them with a thoughtless gaze that made him look stupid but he wasn't planning on waiting around in this room. Although the inherent fear had died down, he was still imagining the dead in the room pushing themselves out of their drawers and coming out to feast on them. It was at this moment he realized he shouldn't have consumed too much of those horror movies as a kid. He exhaled and then turned around to look at them as the one called Whiskey walked towards him and drew the body out completely and began to stuff it in a bodybag. “I hope you brought your car,” he said in a tone that made him feel like he was crossed with a tiger as it was more of a roar than a voice. “Yes I did,” Adrian answered, stepping away as he started to move outside the room. “Oh, you can't leave the room without payment,” Mr Blood stopped him, his usual cheeky smile on his lips.
He didn't need anyone to tell him he was in trouble, he already knew he was in trouble. At this moment, every single fear circuit he had stopped creating an imaginary fear of ghosts. They all focused on the real one right in front of him. Normally, he didn't deal much with Ada, in fact he avoided her like a plague. She was the first daughter of the family and she had a pride that even Lady Barbara would salute in front. Now that she was pregnant, she felt irritated easier and most of the time anyone beside her is usually the one who has to bear the brunt of her incessant and unpredictable burst of anger. Currently, he was the one beside her and to make matters worse, it felt as if she had been looking for him. He sighed and just held his cheeks as if it really stung him that hard to buy time and cook up a lie. He just realized that the excitement he'd felt today was about to make a cartwheel and haunt him. “You still haven't answered the damn question,” she reminded him and stepped
Adrian clicked off his seat belt, shoved the door open and dove outside immediately and rushed towards the driver's seat. He pulled the door open and took out her seat belt and dragged her out. He felt her pulse and it was still beating. Adrian had a medical background, though it wasn't necessarily concrete but his mother is a nurse and she taught him a lot of first aid. When he was a kid he used to be annoyed by those lessons but currently he is praying that he remembers all the women who have taught him. He laid her on her back and loosened every bit of her clothing to the most logical limit where she wouldn't feel harassed when she woke. Afterwards he called her name softly, gently tapping her. He did it twice and she opened her eyes. “Oh, thank God!” Adrian breathed and just fell to the ground breathing haphazardly. She sat up herself and held her head, as Adrian sprang up. “Did you hit your head?” He said flipping for his phone to call nine one one immediately but she shook h
Adrian got out of the car as they reached Linda's house, it was a small weirdly shaped house that seemed to be all alone in the middle of a green field. It would take at least an entire kilometer to reach the next house. Linda and her friend led Adrian into the house as both of them joked with each other. At first Adrian felt very uncomfortable as he didn't fit into any of their conversations, so he sat awkwardly, his brows furrowed as he started to lampoon. His main thoughts were focused on how best he should start avoiding the Brooks, at least for now. Also, his mind flashed back to Mr. Brooks and how he just laid there, steadfastly unmovable. He wondered what kind of poison could have rendered such a richman immobile. The toxin was probably in his system and his body had kind of hibernated to heal overtime. Most of the time, slow poisons were the cause of such symptoms and if he had indeed been administered a slow poison, it means it was truly the people close to him who did it
Adrian woke up the next day still feeling quite jaded. The work had taken them the entire night and they'd all fallen asleep. He tried to shift his bodyweight as he laid on the floor and even though it was cushioned with a soft fur rug, it still made his body feel a little stiff. He however couldn't roll as he felt a weight on his body. He glanced downward with a weird gaze and he saw someone's head, resting peacefully on his chest. He looked once more and discovered it was Rose's blonde hair. He exhaled and tried to shift himself away from her head without waking up. As he shifted, his head smacked against the leg of the table and a teacup fell over and smacked him on the head. He squinted in silence, the two areas of his head stung him and yet he couldn't even rub them. He exhaled and just decided to accept his fate and lay down there but as it would seem, the commotion had woken Rose up already. Rose raised her head, yawned and just glanced at him. “Hey you,” she said as her fac
They entered the house and Linda led him to Lady Barabra who was busy talking to an event planner and she was giving the man instructions on how she wanted the event to go. The event was of course planned in two parts. The first where everyone pretends to appear gloomy and they'd be in the rain putting his body in the ground as a priest puts him to rest. After all these, they would now enter into an event center and then throw a party that Lady Barabra made up. She claimed that Mr. Brooks wanted his death to be one filled with joy and happiness. She however wanted to throw the party so they can all meet the important shareholders in the Castle and Castle company. Adrian at this point became absorbed by his own thoughts, just wondering how bad it would actually hurt Mr Brooks when he wakes to realize that not a single member of his family actually loved him. Even him, his illegitimate prized son didn't really share that much love for him. The only reason he hoped he woke up was just
A few days passed and the preparations for the burial had reached its peak, the Brooks family were thrown into a constant state of chaos or more likely, they'd thrown themselves into constant state of terror. For some reason they were all so fixated on outdoing one another and it placed Adrian in a state where he had to work a lot. He has been filing names and sending invites over and over again for hours. And the Brooks family didn't forget to be mean to him while they were at it. It actually got to a point where he had to fake having a cough that would spread if he didn't get treated immediately. A failed attempt, they packed the files to him in his quarters. Linda however took a bit of them to help him secretly. Not that it gave him any free moment at all. Currently he was in front of the Brook's house taking notes on the event planner's work and how he was planning to make the event work. The poor event planner was already fuming and wanted to end the job with them immediately,
