Adrian got out of the car as they reached Linda's house, it was a small weirdly shaped house that seemed to be all alone in the middle of a green field. It would take at least an entire kilometer to reach the next house. Linda and her friend led Adrian into the house as both of them joked with each other. At first Adrian felt very uncomfortable as he didn't fit into any of their conversations, so he sat awkwardly, his brows furrowed as he started to lampoon. His main thoughts were focused on how best he should start avoiding the Brooks, at least for now. Also, his mind flashed back to Mr. Brooks and how he just laid there, steadfastly unmovable. He wondered what kind of poison could have rendered such a richman immobile. The toxin was probably in his system and his body had kind of hibernated to heal overtime. Most of the time, slow poisons were the cause of such symptoms and if he had indeed been administered a slow poison, it means it was truly the people close to him who did it
Adrian woke up the next day still feeling quite jaded. The work had taken them the entire night and they'd all fallen asleep. He tried to shift his bodyweight as he laid on the floor and even though it was cushioned with a soft fur rug, it still made his body feel a little stiff. He however couldn't roll as he felt a weight on his body. He glanced downward with a weird gaze and he saw someone's head, resting peacefully on his chest. He looked once more and discovered it was Rose's blonde hair. He exhaled and tried to shift himself away from her head without waking up. As he shifted, his head smacked against the leg of the table and a teacup fell over and smacked him on the head. He squinted in silence, the two areas of his head stung him and yet he couldn't even rub them. He exhaled and just decided to accept his fate and lay down there but as it would seem, the commotion had woken Rose up already. Rose raised her head, yawned and just glanced at him. “Hey you,” she said as her fac
They entered the house and Linda led him to Lady Barabra who was busy talking to an event planner and she was giving the man instructions on how she wanted the event to go. The event was of course planned in two parts. The first where everyone pretends to appear gloomy and they'd be in the rain putting his body in the ground as a priest puts him to rest. After all these, they would now enter into an event center and then throw a party that Lady Barabra made up. She claimed that Mr. Brooks wanted his death to be one filled with joy and happiness. She however wanted to throw the party so they can all meet the important shareholders in the Castle and Castle company. Adrian at this point became absorbed by his own thoughts, just wondering how bad it would actually hurt Mr Brooks when he wakes to realize that not a single member of his family actually loved him. Even him, his illegitimate prized son didn't really share that much love for him. The only reason he hoped he woke up was just
A few days passed and the preparations for the burial had reached its peak, the Brooks family were thrown into a constant state of chaos or more likely, they'd thrown themselves into constant state of terror. For some reason they were all so fixated on outdoing one another and it placed Adrian in a state where he had to work a lot. He has been filing names and sending invites over and over again for hours. And the Brooks family didn't forget to be mean to him while they were at it. It actually got to a point where he had to fake having a cough that would spread if he didn't get treated immediately. A failed attempt, they packed the files to him in his quarters. Linda however took a bit of them to help him secretly. Not that it gave him any free moment at all. Currently he was in front of the Brook's house taking notes on the event planner's work and how he was planning to make the event work. The poor event planner was already fuming and wanted to end the job with them immediately,
Adrian got a bit tired from waiting for Mr. Anthony although he was enjoying the moment more than he'd enjoyed working for Lady Barbara. However, boredom made him exhausted, so he decided to walk out of his office and see how his supermarket was actually being run. He has bad business acumen, so he wanted to gain a little today. Blinks wanted to follow him but he wanted to do it freely without everyone feeling that he was above them all. “Can you please wait behind?” He begged. “I really don't want you following me around like a shadow, and no one knows I am rich so please no one is trying to kill me,” he explained.“Okay,” Blinks said. “I'd be playing some Mahjong game with the company's computer,” he said and sat down in his seat, opening the laptop. Adrian didn't even glance at him, his weirdness was already too much for him to handle, if he tried asking why he played mahjong titans, he would be thrown into another spiral. He walked out and reached the front desk where Sandra stoo
Adrian squinted a bit, he'd never really thought that as a kid he would actually be going for an arranged marriage. He's dreamt of love and the joy that comes from making one choice out of billions out there. He in fact detests the idea of polygamy or unsafe sexual relationships. He had grown up without a father in a home where the only thing he knew was pain and suffering. The Brooks’ actions towards him were never ones mild and they'd ended up leaving a mental imprint on him, he never thought that he could ever be anything better than he was. He saw the world as a place too vast to consider him significant to any of its machinations. Now that he was seated to go into a relationship with someone he would probably have no attraction towards the idea repulsed him. So would he also give birth to a kid he wouldn't fully love or would he also be a father that would never be present in the life of his own son?Mr. Anthony's statement might have come out of necessity but Adrian wasn't co
The drive to the cloth store was a little bit longer than Adrian had expected, they arrived there in the evening so most of the ride Sandra tried making small talks with him. He replied to the small talk with a clear mind, a reaction that seemed to surprise Sandra herself. The problem with him was she still thought that Adrian was hung up with her but the former had moved on. He currently was a secret head to a billion dollar company so he knew that he could choose from an array of girls like Sandra but that didn't interest him one bit. His sole focus currently was the funeral and getting past it so he can now focus on hunting down whoever tried to kill Mister Brooks. So girls like Sandra currently just repulsed him, they do not fit into his way of life. That was why when she spoke to him he could answer naturally because he had no attachment towards her anymore. Soon enough they arrived at the cloth store and the girls got down. He started to walk into the mall when he discovered
It has been two days since he'd taken Sandra and rest to the mall to buy clothes and the funeral was finally here. Adrian had woken up earlier than usual, he was in charge of arranging the seats people were going to be seated at and he also had to put black umbrellas at everyone's chair. He was already at the funeral site arranging the chairs when Lady Barbara walked into the site in the morning. It was around six o'clock and he wondered why she was here. He however kept as silent as he could just doing his job and acting like he didn't see her.It was best when he was invisible, she would pick on someone else instead but then when he glanced at her face there was a kind of subtlety to it that made him realize she wasn't here for trouble today. She walked past him and whispered a good morning and Adrian almost jumped out of his own body.“Good morning ma'am,” he replied quickly with a bow. She however didn't even see him. He watched her to her husband's coffin that had already been la
