He should have known that for some good things to happen to him today, something bad would have to come too.
He watched in shock as they kissed deeply, the man's tongue sliding into Sandra's mouth as they went at each other.
It was only Nana's startled shout of surprise that made them spring apart.
They separated and then Sandra saw him. He expected to see guilt and shame on her face. He expected her to come rushing over to him, trying to explain. He expected the man to quietly leave, but that didn't turn out like he thought it would.
Sandra rolled her eyes with a distasteful hiss when she saw him standing there, with his mouth open in shock.
Adrian's mouth dropped open even wider as he heard the hiss directed at him.
“Sandra, you're cheating on me?!” The thunderous question escaped his lips.
“What the fuc—, how can you be cheating on me?!”
Sandra chuckled as if she couldn't believe the question and the man now turned to look at Adrian. Adrian regarded the man with hate and anger while the man stared down his nose at Adrian, as if Adrian shouldn't even be in his presence.
“What do you think I'm doing, Adrian?” Sandra spat, “don't you have eyes? Want me to explain it gently to you?”
Adrian staggered back a few feet at her words. What was this? No this couldn't be happening to him at all. Not his Sandra.
“No, I'm not cheating on you, Adrian.” she told him as her lips curled into a sneer.
Adrian was seeing the look on her face as she said it, but still the words gave him some hope. Maybe she wasn't really cheating on him. Maybe she had an explanation.
“What we had was not even a relationship, so how can I possibly be cheating on you?” Sandra said, reaching for the guy's hand and linking their hands together.
Adrian couldn't believe his ears. They hadn't even been in a relationship? “Then, then what the fuck was it, Sandra? If it wasn't us dating and loving each other, what was it?”
“It was a pity!” she screamed out. “I felt bad for the poor little farmer boy that always came here to get groceries and his little farm seeds, whatever, and so I decided to indulge your stupid fantasy to date you.”
Nana gasped even louder than Adrian. Adrian couldn't even believe what he was hearing. He rushed to Sandra and gripped her shoulders as he shook her. “You don't mean that, snap out of it, will you?!”
The other guy shoved Adrian hard on the shoulder and Adrian went falling back, barely managing to catch himself before he fell.
“Who the fuck do you think you are, touching my girlfriend like that?” The new lover yelled, almost rushing at Adrian.
One of Sandra's co workers, Laura, came to where they all stood in the aisle and saw what was happening. This girl had no nice bone in her body. She had always taken joy in taunting Adrian whenever he came. Calling him a little piggy boy just because Adrian was interested in keeping a farm.
She laughed as she saw what was unfolding. “I was wondering when you would find out and stop bringing your dirty self into this super market, polluting the environment.”
Adrian couldn't even say anything. Laura had always hated him dating Sandra and had never made it a secret. She believed Sandra was too gorgeous for a poor boy like him to date and that he should leave her alone. She must be so happy right now.
Adrian had always believed Sandra would never prove her right.
“Piggy boy, can't you see that a real man has become Sandra's real boyfriend? You are nothing compared to Peniel, he's rich and sophisticated. When he comes here, he buys her nice things, but all you ever bring with you for Sandra are woes.” Laura hissed.
She turned to Sandra and smiled. “I'm so glad you wisened up.”
Sandra smiled back at her. “I was always wide, I was just slumming a little, really. No harm in having a little fun with silly boys like him when you're bored you know?” Sandra giggled.
Her new lover leaned in and pressed a kiss to her neck, and then her ear, before leaning down to kiss her on the lips. Sandra moaned into his mouth.
Adrian's hands balled into fists beside him and he was afraid he would dig his nails deep into his flesh if he didn't stop.
“If you were at least a millionaire, Sandra would accept you, instead you're just a broke little farmer boy.” Laura laughed out loud, obviously having a lot of fun.
“You can't even secure her a job now that our boss is planning to sell the supermarket, but Peniel has promised to get the new owner to let her stay. See? That is what a real man is good for!”
“I'll show you what a real man is, Sandra. I'll show you.”
Sandra's eyebrows rose. “If you're so pained to hear that, then why don't you go ahead and buy the supermarket?”
Laura went over to where Sandra and the lover Peniel were standing. “I mean, it shouldn't be that hard a bargain for you, piggy boy, this is where you buy all your dirty farm produce.”
Adrian thought about it and he remembered a particular q billion dollars just sitting pretty in his account.
“You know, you're right, Sandra. I might just buy the supermarket myself.”
Everyone was silent for a second, looking at him with wide eyes, and then they all burst into laughter so loud it rang out in all directions of the supermarket and in all the aisles.
But Adrian was already seriously thinking about it. He would buy it and own the place. It would be a good enough place since he shopped here and needed to come frequently to buy seedlings, gardening equipment and groceries.
He would also become Sandra's boss. And then, her and her arrogant new boyfriend would be begging him.
Adrian went to another store and bought everything he needed. He went home and hurriedly prepared lunch with the help of other maids in the house. They served the food and then waited for the entire family to come downstairs. A couple of them were not around but Lady Barbara was and so was Raymond and Maria Their terror twins were also at home.Ada, the first daughter of the family was home too. But her husband wasn't and the others were all off somewhere. They all sat at the long dining table and Adrian watched as the maids dished out the food. He had never been served food or anything else by anyone in his life. He wondered what it would truly be like to fully be addressed and regarded as the heir to Brooks Castle and Castle. He felt an almost irrational need to excitedly reveal his secret. Like just spit it out and see the reactions on these people's faces. Ada would probably faint, although he didn't know who between her and her mother, Lady Barbara who would faint first, and R
When he returned to his place that night he was glad to have the time to call his mother on the phone. This was not something he could discuss with her over the phone though, so he only asked her when she would be returning. She replied to him that she would be back before Sir Brooks' burial was scheduled to be held and he agreed with her.She has to come back and explain something to him. And tell him how she had kept his real identity secret for so long. And then he called Anthony. There was something he needed him to do for him. “Hello, Anthony,” he said into the phone. He still couldn't believe he had such access to this man who he had respected from afar over the last few years when he had worked for Sir Brooks.“Yes, Anthony at your service, young master.”Adrian still felt weird about the name but he would let it be. “You say I am the master of everyone at Castle and Castle and that my word is law?”There was no hesitation on the other end. “Yes, of course it is.”Adrian nod
Instead of waiting around while the old man explained whatever, Adrian walked away and glided into his office with grace. He sat down on the reclining chair in his office, his head relaxed on the chair as he strained his ears to listen to what was going on outside. He could hear more words than he'd expected, it was still early in the morning and customers weren't that much yet. “What do you mean?” He heard Sandra say, and he couldn't resist and his lips curled into a smile however he quickly stopped smiling. He didn't need to show his contentment for the current situation. He needed to act like he was busy so he started to flip some documents in front of him in readiness for their entrance.“I said, kneel and apologize to him if you are interested in keeping your job,” the old owner said, his tone laced with urgency and fear. Adrian didn't understand why the man was acting like that, he didn't necessarily give off a domineering posture when he contacted him, in fact he was quite po
Adrian watched all she did in silence and indeed let himself have a good view. He actually was silent because he wanted her to think she actually had a choice in this matter. He sat down back and watched her sit directly on his table. She was adding a little bit of seduction to the threat, this girl was the devil incarnate but Adrian knew it was good having people like her under him. Considering the kind of power that he held now, he needed to have as many people under him as possible and they should all have different things they each do.“So what do you think about my little request,” she said, holding his tie and bringing her mouth closer to his and he could perceive her usual rose perfume scent. That was one of the things that turned his head towards her, she knew how to actually prop herself up.“I think you are a little mistaken,” he said with a clear face just staring. “Oh, am I?* She asked with a smile, “how so?” She inquired softly. “Well, for starters, I don't actually se
Adrian arrived at Brooke's mansion with the drugs he was supposed to get for one of the twins, he held his hand up unconsciously to knock on the door, just as he did the door swung open and he leaned forward by mistake, his hand colliding with the person at the door.He paused for a few moments and raised his head slowly as he stared the person in the eye for three full seconds before a scream rushed from the person's lungs and before he could apologize, a backhand struck him in the face. It caught him off guard and he landed on his butts, the content of the drugs spilling from his hand.“Are you insane?” Lady Barbara asked, walking towards him as he laid on the ground, groaning in pain. The woman looked at him. “You know, I never understood what it is about you but I can't seem to get rid of your goddamn stupid face and all the time you'd always be in the way. It seems you have a death wish or something,” she explained. “Look just now you tried to punch me, is that your way of revol
Sensing his eagerness, Mr Anthony chuckled. “Let me walk you through it then,” he started.“Okay, what we need is a body double. I will give you the contacts of one man, you need to negotiate with him to get the double without him knowing who it is for, if he should find out we will need every means to keep him quiet,” he explained. “This project cannot be leaked out or your father's fake death is compromised,” “I understand,” he replied and the man hung up. He satHe sent the contact to him and he saw the name on it. “Blood,” and Adrian shook to the core. Then he realized Blood was a surname, it isn't just common. He was however skeptical that a man that happens to deal in bodies was named Blood.Adrian dialed the contact on the phone and he waited while it rang. He didn't understand why they'd want to use a body double, and where they were even going to get one. He'd accepted the request due to his eagerness to please this man that had handed him the power that seemed divine to him
Adrian took a cab and confidently paid with his credit card without even worrying if there was enough on it. He remembered a day ago when he was trying to get mail for Lady Barbara and she didn't even give him money to get a ride. He had to walk all the way and when he came back, he still got scolded for being late. He shook his head as he glared at the street through the car's window. He noticed the skyscrapers that scattered around the city and its feeble attempt to keep nature flourishing with parks and small gardens littered across it. He smiled at himself once again, fulfilled. This was the first time in his entire life that he noticed the beauty of the city. Usually he was walking across this area disturbed and depressed. There were many times the thought of death crossed his mind but he kept pushing. “Oi mate, where do ya say ya be heading to earlier,” the cab man said in an old english accent that made Adrian glance at him with curiosity.“The Hale's morgue,” he said with a
Adrian walked in and took in the environment. The room he went inside was like the receptionist room with a large barricaded area housing two people as receptionists, both in plain blue uniforms with nose masks and gloves. The area was a little bit crowded than he'd expected and also more arranged than what he imagined a morgue would be. He glanced at Blinks who acted like he didn't know him and headed down to sit at the waiting chairs where people sat. He stood for a second unable to determine what to do next. He glanced at the receptionist table then at the waiting chair. He was unsure whether to just skip everyone at the waiting chair or he should just sit down in line like them. The issue was he didn't know what they were waiting for, he shrugged and just went to the receptionist. “Good evening,” he said as it was already seventeen hundred hours. “Go and wait in line,” the female receptionist commanded without glancing up. She was chewing something underneath her mask while sh
