ELEVEN

It better not be what he is thinking because he dreaded the thought of it, had he made a mistake by not accepting Evelyn's offer as soon as he can...?

‘No, Zik. Stop thinking negatively...’ his subconscious hit him

"What do you mean, doctor?" Issac asked. "Why have you asked me not to bring the money anymore?"

"Because an anonymous person had just cleared her bills." The doctor replied. "The operation will commence in the next one hour and you need to be at the hospital before that time so as you to sign a document as the only relative of her we know."

Issac was confused, who on earth might have decided to ease him the stress by paying his mother's bills?

He or she must have been generous to do so, Issac know he owes such a big thanks to whosoever it may be. But now, he really needs to go to the hospital first.

*********

"Its good you are here, Mr Issac." The doctor said immediately he saw Issac approaching his office. "You came just at the right time."

"I have to, doctor..." Issac replied, drawling. "It about my mother and I don't play jokes with her, she's every thing I've got."

"Yeah, I can see." The doctor nodded his head curtly. "You can have your seat, Mr Issac."

"Thank you, doctor." Issac mumbled, almost under his breathe as he sat on the chair opposite the doctor's direction.

"We should get straight to things now." The doctor said. "You have to sign these papers as her only relative, we've got only few minutes left."

"But who could have paid for her dialysis with out my consent?" Issac questioned, still wary of the unknown person, who had helped him. "Ten thousand dollars is huge for someone to give out that easily."

The doctor smiled at Isaac's ignorance,  little did he not know that the stranger had paid for the whole operation and not the dialysis.

"We are carrying out the operation on her because that is what the stranger had paid for." The doctor told him, wearing a smile on. "We don't need the dialysis method anymore."

Issac shook his head negatively, still wanting an answer to his question. "But doctor I should know who had did this huge favour for me because I have to thank the person for saving my mother's life and..."

"You should keep these talks to yourself or better still, save them for later." The doctor cut him off. "What you have to do is to sign these so we can start the operation as soon as possible."

Yeah, the doctor is right. His mother need to be treated this very moment and he is here demanding of the anonymous stranger who had cleared his mother's bills.

This is not the right moment to ask questions and he should not be  doing so. First, his mother's treatment and then every other question could comes after.

"Sure..." Issac nodded his head almost a million times. "The papers, so I can sign there."

************

Issac waited patiently at the waiting room expecting the doctor to come out from the operation theatre. The doctor seems to be taking a lot of time to do so and Issac could not wait any longer, his impatience was getting the better of him.

His mother means a lot to him and he can't wait to see her again. He really needs to see her maybe she might have a clue about who had paid the bills.

But what is he talking about? The doctor said he is ignorant about it so why would his mother be in the best position to know who could have?

After what seems like eternity to  Issac, he saw the doctor coming towards him. There was no registered expression on his face as it appear blank, giving Isaac no clue to whatever he got on his mind.

"How is she? Did every thing goes as expected?" Issac could not hide the anxiety in his voice and he seems to be nervous about his mother's condition. "Can I see her now?"

"You have to come with me to my office." The doctor replied, ignoring his questions. "That way, we can talk better."

Issac followed the doctor to his office and could barely wait for the doctor to settle down before asking him the same anxious question of his again.

"Did my mother survive it, did every thing went well with her? Can I see her now?" He bombarded the doctor with numerous questions, his impatience at it peak.

"You should allow me sit first, Mr. Isaac." The doctor cautioned, taking his seat almost immediately. "Why are you this anxious?"

"I am nervous about her health and I can't deny the fact about it." Issac replied, admitting. "I just want to know how she is."

The doctor shrugged his shoulders lightly. "Well, she survive the operation but..."

Issac did not wait for the doctor to complete his statement. He had just confirmed that his mother had survive the operation, why the buts again?

"Why the but again, doctor?" Issac questioned, lines on his forehead. "You just said she survived it."

"You have to calm down, Mr Issac." The doctor told him. "You did not allow me to finish talking before you bumped a question at me."

"I'm sorry, doc..." Issac replied in a weary voice like a wounded lion.

"She do survived it but she is sleeping at the moment, so you won't be able to see her now." The doctor explained.

"Thank goodness she survived it, I was worried for nothing." Issac said with a sigh of relieve. "I wonder what I would have done if she did not."

The doctor smiled at Isaac's word. He did not have to reply such question and he is not going to.

"But doctor, I'm still yet confused about who could have helped me save my mother." Issac said earning a frown look from the doctor. "I mean who could have be so generous to help us despite the fact that I did not tell anyone about her health."

He tried to rack his brain for any clue, no one knows about his mother's predicament. He might have think the help has come from Amy but she know nothing either.

"I don't know why such thing should bother you any longer." The doctor give him a short hiss, tired of his curiosity. "You mother has been saved and nothing should bother you any more."

"You don't understand what I am talking about, doctor." Issac told him. "Someone out of the blues had helped to pay the bills and it would be improper if we show no gratitude for what he or she has done for us."

"But since the person refuse to identify his or herself, it means the stranger did not really need any gratitude after rendering such a huge assistance."

"How did...?" Issac was cut off by the sudden ring from his phone.

"Who could this be again." Issac muttered, unpleased at the incoming. On checking the contact calling, he hissed out loudly.

"We should continue our conversation, it's no one important." Issac said to the doctor. "I will return the call when we are done."

"There's nothing left for us to say and I suggest you pick your call." The doctor replied, more like dismissing his presence.

"Are you sure about this, doctor?" Mr Issac asked hoping the doctor would reply in his own favour but he was disappointed.

"Of course, I am." The doctor admitted to his words, with a positive nod. "The caller might not stop calling and it would be very unfair if you decide to ignore it. You can't tell the reason why the person might be calling, you know."

"There's nothing important in her calls and she irritates me too." Issac said to himself but if only the doctor could read minds.

In as much as he did not want to pick the call, but the doctor left him with no other choice to it.

‘Why on earth is she calling this time?’   He wondered as he excused himself to answer the call.

Issac could not count his many times he had hissed even before he could get out if the building. Everyone who see him would notice the frustration look on his face.

The continuous ringing annoys him and he wish he can just smashed the phone on the ground but who is he kidding? If he had decided to smashed the phone then how on earth is he going to buy another one?

Reluctantly, he picked the call, hissing out loudly. "What? Why are you disturbing my phone with your calls?" He sounded really pissed off.

"I thought you are never going to answer the call." Her voice was filling the air, Isaac had put the call on speaker rather than placing the phone to his ear.

"What do you want from me?" Issac thundered, his rage reflecting in his voice. "I see no reason why you still have the guts to call me, I told you to get lost, don't you get it?"

"You have to calm down, my groom to be." Evelyn chuckled at the other end probably at her choice of addressing Issac. "We are not in an argument, are we?"

"You have to answer such question yourself." Issac hissed, angrily. "Stop calling me, I'm not in acceptance of your stupid offer."

She ignored his continuous ranting. "Has she been operated on already?" She question stunned Issac. When will this lady stop stalking him? Had she  followed him to the hospital too?

"It does not matter to you if she has or not." Issac fired angrily at her. If only she has been here, Issac would have given her that hard look that kills.

"Are you not worried or confused about who have help her settle her bills?" She asked, stunning him further. How did she got to know this too? Isaac realized she has no dignity left in her.

"You don't have to be, my darling Zik." Evelyn told her. "Its no other person than your bride-to-be."

"What...!" Issac gasped in disbelief. "How dare you, Evelyn? Who gave you such order with out my own permission?"

"How does your permission matters here?" Evelyn hissed from the other end. "I just saved your mother and instead of appreciating what I have done to you, you are talking about permission."

"Appreciation my foot!" Issac spat, blurting out angrily. "I know you too well and you don't render favour that easily unless you are going to gain from it."

"Now you are speaking my language, Zik." Evelyn said from the other end, her voice sounding amusing. "And you know what I want from you."

"You will never get what you want no matter how hard you try." Issac told him as a matter of fact.

"Let's watch and see how you're going to find yourself dancing to my tunes, my dear."Evelyn told him plainly but it sounded like a threat to Isaac.

"Let's wait and see who wins at the end of the game too because I promise to you, I won't agree to you..."
