TWO

Isaac's heart anxiously raced faster, hoping the call he had received was from his supposed to be wife but mere checking at the screen of the phone, his face was squeezed tightly in a deep frown —it was a call from an anonymous network line.

"Who could it be...?" He wondered aloud, contemplating on whether to pick the call or not. He tried thinking hard to any situation that might have yielded this strange call but couldn't think of any.

The only person he was expecting a call from seems not to be the one, who is this then?

Rather than picking the call to feed his curiosity, he watched the call came to an abrupt stop and wanting to return the phone back in to his shirt's pocket —another call came in from the same line again.

Isaac hissed. "What business do I have with this caller, eh?" He asked himself, still not wanting to take the call. He felt he's too occupied to be disturbed by some random caller.

So much had happened to him in just one day, he needed no disturb, especially not with phone calls!

Isaac was forced to pick the call on the third ring. "Who is this...?" He muttered in to the phone, anger visibly laced in his voice. "Why are you pestering me with your calls? Are you planning on running my phone's battery down?"

He was too impatient to have let the caller speak or state the reason for the nonstop calls.

After venting and blurting out his anger for half a minute or more, he pressed his lips to a stop to hear from the caller's end but he heard nothing except buzzing.

Right! The place he is in is occupied with noise and crammed with people, he won't be able to hear the caller speak. He reluctantly stood up, entering the crowd.

Isaac scrambled, forcing and pushing his way amongst the crowded clubhouse and stepped outside, just when he felt his call won't be disturbed by noise any longer.

"I can hear you clearly now." He uttered, rather rudely. "Be quick with your talks, I don't want you running my phone's battery down."

"I supposed this is Mr. Isaac, am I right?" He heard the voiced.

Okay, is this supposed to be a joke or not? Didn't he verify who he was about calling or he just decide to toy with him? Those were Isaac's thought, his face squeezed tightly in nothing else but anger.

"—and is that supposed to be a question at all? Did you not know before calling?" Isaac managed to control himself from yelling angrily in to the phone. What sort of person randomly call people with out knowing who they are?

"I have to confirm first if or not I'm calling the right person and stop sounding so rude, Mr. Isaac." The caller uttered with a loud hiss. "Do you have a beef with..."

"Hey there, Mr right person..." Isaac called out, angrily. "I'll have to end this call if you have no reasonable things to say. You had better say some thing before I'm forced to hang up on you."

"I'm afraid that if you do, you won't be able to find out about your mother." The caller told him in a hoarse voice.

Isaac felt tense at the mention of ‘his mother’ as he felt cold chills run down his spine. What happened to her? Is she in some kind of trouble, but how?

"Did you just say my mother?" Isaac asked in a voice barely above a whisper, he needed to be sure he is not hearing things —he dreaded the fact that some thing bad might have happened to her.

Wait, what if the caller is trying to play a prank on him using his mother?

"Yeah, you heard me right." The caller confirmed his own words. "She's been admitted in..."

Isaac cut him off abruptly, giving him no much chance to complete his words. "Listen up, Mr..." He muttered in a rough like voice, visibly annoyed. "You don't just go around, calling people and playing a prank on them with their mother."

"I was about telling you that your mother has been diagnosed with..."

Again, Isaac cut him off. "If I find out this is a prank, Mr anonymous caller..." He vocalized, threat visible in his voice. "...you will be sorry for wasting my time and playing around with my mother."

"Why don't you just swallow your empty threats and listen very clearly to me." The caller voiced and the frustration he felt was visible in his voice. He was angrier than Isaac was due to his rude choice of words but chewed on his rage.

"Do you think every one has yet enough time to joke around? I called to inform you that your mother is been admitted because she was rushed to the hospital due to how she suddenly fainted." He explained but not calmly.

Isaac's world froze, coming in to an abrupt stop. What would have made his mother fainted? And for her to be admitted right away on his absence, that only shows how much critical the condition she is must be.

"I'm sorry, Mr. —but where do you say my mother is again...?" Isaac's tone was calmer than he sounded few seconds before, he was stuttering due to the sudden fear that gripped him.

The caller was not that daft not to have noticed the fear in Isaac's voice, he sighed faintly in return. It will be more better to speak to him this way, that was the caller's thought.

"Your mother fainted all of a sudden earlier this evening and was rushed down to our hospital. I've been trying to reach you for a while now but thankfully, this went through." He explained calmly. "As her relative and son, your presence is urgently needed and you know what that means..."

His doubt was confirmed! Isaac need no one to tell him how much in danger she must be!
