The dark passage

"The candidates for the position should now step up to the podium.” The man said.

A number of elegantly dressed men who were seated in silver-chairs close to the four golden chairs of the Elders, stood up and strode with regality and glory as they mounted the podium.

“Some of them look too skinny” A student mumbled from where she sat, in their own pew.

“It’s not by body size, but by strength of character” Glenda rebuffed her.

And the girl scoffed, internally disagreeing with Glenda’s remark.

Another Elder stood from his golden chair carrying a long object that was robed with a purple silk linen. He climbed the podium in a brief moment then handed it over to the Elder coordinating the coronation, then went back to his seat.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the fourteen candidates who have made it to the final round” There was applause and shouting as the people screamed the names of their favoured candidate, and the Elder untied the purple robe. It was a scroll, designed
