Clone

In the forest outside the kingdom Grimbow. Alex was running in the opposite direction of the kingdom trying to find a place to finally make a clone, an ability he got as a gift after he transmigrated but didn't use until now. He was very eager to try it.

"Hmm, this cave is good.”

He said as he walked into a cave, trees were covering the entrance from one side. The other side was blocked by a rock Alex placed there.

He sat down and cleared his mind and then focused on making the clone using mana.

It was relatively simple as he just had to command his mana to operate and like a subconscious reaction, mana moved outside his body and a body was formed looking exactly like him, it took nearly half his mana and there is also the consumption to keep it but it was negligible.

"Looks exactly like me, except that it has both his arm.”

He thought as he looked into the eyes of his clone and observed him properly.

"Wait, I can make a whole body so why can't I make a prosthetic arm?" He thought as he directed his mana to just make an arm.

"No, this doesn't look right." He said as he looked at his prosthetic arm that in no way looked like his. It was deformed.

He tried again and after a few tries, he succeeded in making a prosthetic arm of mana. It didn't look that strong but as the saying goes.

“One hand is better than no hands.”

So, I will make do with this for now.

"Doesn't consume too much mana and can be kept active at all times, but maintaining a clone takes mana and can't be kept active all the time."

"Well, it's a good start and I think this cloning art is much more than just making an unintelligent clone."

"Let's try its strength and combat ability," he said as he got in position and commanded the clone to fight. The clone rushed forward and struck a punch towards his face that he avoided by tilting his head slightly and punching the clone in the face.

The punch connected but as he didn't use his full strength, the clone kicked him in his left leg and it hurt Alex bent forward and the clone took this opportunity to punch him again and it connected.

"Ahh, it's my clone so why is it stronger than me," he said as he dodged another punch coming his way and ran to the right, got in position, and cracked his neck.

“Alright, let's do some stretching.”

His demeanor and behavior had unknowingly changed again without him even noticing it.

After a while, the clone dispelled on its own because of the lack of mana, and Alex was panting and leaning toward the wall.

So, it's not stronger and was beating me because it was fighting rationally while I was just kicking and punching randomly. Like a street brawler.”

"It has 80% of my strength but it doesn't feel pain. That is the reason that I was beaten. And another interesting thing is that after being dispelled the experience and memories are transferred to me."

Alex leaned his back against the cave wall and started resting.

“But, this isn't everything the clone art has but I can't seem to access it." He continued, "it must be growth-type, that the stronger I get the more the abilities are unlocked. I am a D-ranked cultivator and I can maintain a single clone for 7 hours at most if it isn't injured or killed before that. so I should be able to maintain it at all times when I am C-ranked. He recovered his mana and concluded his observation about the clone art.

After resting for a while and recovering his mana he made another clone and sent it to the opposite direction of the grim bow kingdom.

“I will stay in the grim bow while you will fight beasts and gain combat experience and try not to get injured even slightly and try to finish everyone in one move."

He instructed the clone and it kept looking at him without saying anything, it was weird looking at one's clone, but he got used to it.

"Did you get it?"

The clone nodded slightly.

“Good, you can go."

The clone turned and walked out of the cave.

“Very good, I can get the much-needed combat experience while I will stay here and hunt and cultivate."

“This is the true use of the clones.” He said with a satisfied grin.

"I have to reach C-rank or it will be difficult to survive. That is the bare minimum for survival.

He walked out of the cave, the trees covered the sky perfectly and there was not even a hint of daylight, and the forest gave an ominous feeling because of the absence of light. As if the forest itself was alive and wanted to eat him.

"Well, its called the dark forest for a reason, and its spread to a great distance connecting many kingdoms, or we can say that some kingdoms are located in the middle of the dark forest filled with ferocious beasts ranging from the weakest F-rank to B-Rank. With some rare A and S-ranked beasts causing devastation occasionally.

He said as he walked through the forest leisurely, wanting to hunt some beast to have dinner tonight.

"That deer was an E-Ranked beast, I should find stronger beasts to hunt and hone some skills."

Suddenly, he stopped as he heard a sound nearby, he slowly went around the spot where the spot came from and saw a brown wolf sleeping there.

Alex stopped where he was, a cold shiver ran down his spine and he slowly made some distance from the beast.

“It's a C-Ranked beast, I don't understand what is this doing here when it should be deeper inside the forest."

He thought as he slowly moved backward. he couldn't kill it because he read information about it and he was no match for it. It shouldn't even be here in the peripheral area of the forest. Even if it was sleeping, if he got near it would wake him up. And then it was game over.

He realized now why the information was free of cost. It was old and couldn't be trusted.

He moved slowly but the senses of a C-Ranked beast weren't for show.

The wolf sensed his presence and woke up and looked in his direction without doing anything. Alex raised his hands in the air slightly and slowly stepped backward but the wolf suddenly got irritated for some reason and howled loudly and pounced in his direction.

Alex immediately dodged to the left and tried to run while sending mental commands to his clone to rush over because he couldn't match it alone considering it was stronger and faster than him.

Even though the clone was coming he had to stay alive before that. So, he used mana to enhance his legs to run faster and arms to defend against its attacks.

After not hitting its intended target the wolf got even more irritated and clawed toward Alex. It wanted to rip this human to shreds who invaded its territory.

Alex used even more mana in his forearms and jumped slightly, so when the claw hit he used its force to bounce back and make some distance. Dodging its attack successfully.

Even though he did that and was thrown backward his arms were still bleeding as they couldn't defend against the steely claw no matter the amount of mana used.

As he skidded backward, the wolf again looked into his eyes and he could feel the pressure and waves of mana emanating from its eyes. It was a mental attack.

The wolf suddenly looked very domineering and its figure enlarged in his eyes. His body shuddered under its gaze and he looked scared as he inched backward with a frown on his forehead. This kind of mental pressure was too much for a newbie like him.

The wolf saw that the skill it used didn't work. it pounced forward but at this moment the world trembled as if the most terrifying earthquakes had happened back to back Alex tripped and fell backward and his mana was disrupted and the clone dispelled on its own and he got its experience and memories. The feelings of tension and uncertainty pervaded the whole world.

This phenomenon continued as the thunder rumbled in the sky, lightning flashed and the wind rushed chaotically. the sound was deafening and the wind smashed against them and mana was moving chaotically like it was an energy storm.

Suddenly, everything stopped and reverted to calm or it would be more apt to say the calm before the storm. This calm atmosphere frightened the living even more. The beasts roared out, the birds fell on the ground and the human settlements were filled with the aura of anxiety.

Alex was knocked into a tree during the storm. He could also feel the change in the atmosphere and he got up and looked around. Uneasiness was apparent on his face.

"Now, what in the world has happened, I haven't read anything about it and from the magnitude of the phenomenon it should have encompassed a large area if not the whole continent."

“I wonder if this is ordinary or has happened before because this is not common on and it never happened on Earth.”

"I have to get to a nearby civilization to get information about this phenomenon. Fortunately, the beast is not here."

"Even though it doesn't matter to me, it doesn't hurt to check the major problems mankind faces and their status—"

He was interrupted as a blue screen appeared before his sight and it read:
