Lost. Milas expected it to be easy to locate the school since the contract was basically a compass. He had been walking in the tunnels that led to the settlement for hours but he never found the exit. Everyone he met would ignore him and some even gave him coins like a beggar. Milas was forced to go to the guards to ask for directions even though he despised them for what they did to slaves.

"Excuse me sir, can you please help me with directions? I need to deliver a message to Master Deogratius De Viers. It's very urgent." Milas was doing his best not to puke while saying those words. His face was that of a lost child and the torn clothes he wore further enhanced it.

"What would trash like you have to say to someone like Lord Deogratius?" The guard said with a mocking voice.

"I'll tell him that I finished smashing your mom." Milas thought but held himself while giving a light smile. He raised his shirt and exposed the slave brand on his chest. "I'm actually his slave and Master Deogr

He may have hated that place but he wanted to leave on his own accord not being thrown out like trash. The worst part was that Deogratius was hellbent on kicking him out. Milas was about to leave the study when Deogratius grabbed the back of his neck and lifted him up. Milas tried to flail his limbs but Deogratius stabbed his fingers into his back. This went on for two minutes and Milas' back was riddled with blood spewing holes. Deogratius dragged him out the window and held him dozens of meters above the ground. "Your victory has made you careless. You would have heard me approach if pride didn't cloud your mind. Remember that no matter how much you succeed, there will always be something to make you lose." Deogratius then dropped Milas. It was more of throw than a drop since he flung Milas like a spear. Milas had experience falling from great height

  • A Vampire's Tale    28 The Academy Test (1)

Milas always wondered whose twisted idea it was to put teenagers together in an under supervised institution. The icing on top was the pitting them against each other so as to establish rankings. This must have been a method developed for the sole purpose of making a society cave in on itself. A method so diabolically effective, it's used to destroy the dreams and aspirations of a growing generation.Milas looked at the faces around him and noticed a mix of emotions. The one thing he did notice was that fancily dressed teenagers had gathered into groups while the others walked around to find someone to talk to. The guard who brought him there immediately turned around and left. "There seems to be more people than I thought, this will be troublesome to deal with. Deogratius made it clear that I can't fail the entrance test but the others seem to already have alliances. I might need to form a partnership with one of the kids who are alone." Milas looked around for a while and set his s

There exists a long list of pointless things done by people and punching a rock has to be one of them. Everyone participating in the test knew this but the rocks weren't giving them much choice. The two statues may have lacked speed but the walls covered for this flaw. The few vampires brave enough to try and fight were soon on the ground and clinging on to their consciousness. Some of these brave fools had the skills to go toe to toe with the statues but Milas knew how useless their attempts were. He had noticed that the statues would heal whenever they got chipped or cracked. The worst thing was that two of the three vampires on the ground had been pulled underground. Two new statues appeared and Milas noticed that the red veins of the first faceless statue pulsed slightly with energy.Milas had no time to think about it as he avoided a stampede from the teenagers who were trying to escape the statues. He managed to move aside and maintain balance before staring at the statues. Mila

The room he was in looked like a smaller version of the one he had in Deogratius' mansion. Milas flexed the muscles across his body to check the functionality of his body. Everything was normal and there was no proof of his wounds. The healing capabilities of his vampire body never ceased to amaze him.The door opened when he was wondering if he should stand up or go back to sleep. A tall woman with gravity defying breasts stood there with one of the special flasks that stored blood. She made eye contact with Milas and immediately frowned. Milas was not expecting such a reaction from someone he'd just met."You slaves always get into trouble and have to get treated. You should know that vampires don't exactly know how to treat the injured. I am hired to take care of the wounded and even I don't know ho

Milas was on his knees when another kick threw him back through the double doors behind him. He skidded on the smooth floor before coming to a stop. He looked at the receptionist who only pointed at the door. Milas understood the warning and crossed his arms to block the incoming kick. The force behind it was rather weak and it took Milas a little too long to figure out that it was a feint. The real attack resulted into a shoe print on his face and Milas laying on his back. The girl then proceeded to stomp on him like she was trying to kill a bug. Milas finally caught her leg and twisted it forcing her to kneel. He then punched her exposed side making her flinch. Milas started to move his fingers and they weakly wrapped into a fist. His eyes were still closed and he wasn't in a rush to open them as he took slow breaths. The pain had vanished and he currently felt like he was floating in a warm liquid. The place was shallow as his back touched the ground while a small part of his chest was exposed to the gentle breeze. Milas finally decided to open his eyes to see how the afterlife looked like. The first thing he noticed was the orange tint in the sky, signifying that it was sunset. There were a few red clouds drifting silently across the sky. Milas saw something dark at the edge of his vision. He slowly lifted his body up to a sitting position and what he saw was not what he expected of the afterlife. The first thing was that he was laying in a pool of blood. The crimson liquid was all around him but Milas noticed something strange. There was no smell. He was sitting in a pool of the stuff but there was nothing affecting his nose. Milas could

Milas doubted how much control Asher had when he saw how he fed. It may have been less ravenous when compared to the feeding frenzy ghouls had in the mines, but it was still just as savage. The way his blade like teeth sliced through meat brought Milas a new fear. Had Asher used his teeth in the fight, Milas was sure that he would have lost more than just the battle. It was only after Asher was done eating did the others drink from the flasks. The group of vampires quickly recovered as their bones reset and their skin went back to being silky smooth. The boy with the trolley went around the hall handing out flasks and containers to everyone. Master Sanim decided to speak after everyone was finished with their recovery. "Now that you're all healed, I want to say that I've seen some talents in your lot. It may be overshadowed by the sheer amount of lazy people filling this hall but it exists. The hall was eerily silent as everyone stared at the two girls. Master Sanim had only just given the order to have a friendly spar but Aileen was already on the ground. The other students, including Milas, were waiting to see how the teacher would react. Shockingly, all he did was nod with approval. "That's how a spar should be." Milas couldn't believe that someone responsible for teens could say that. He would have gotten along well with Deogratius, Milas was sure of it. He faced Asher to resume the fight but he had vanished. Milas focused on his surroundings and immediately found him. More precisely, Asher's fist found his belly and lifted him up. Confusion and desperation reigned in Milas' mind as he tried to remember more details of the memory. The only thing he was sure of was that the little girl was his sister but even that didn't feel right. Why did she look nothing like him? He tried to ignore this and think of other things. The other question he asked himself was why a beast was lying dead in the room. The place looked like a bedroom and the fact that he woke up on a bed strengthened this thought. So why did it look like he had fought the beast in that place? And why did both his body and the little girl act so casual despite the hellish scene? Could it be that something like that had happened before? And the girl had gone to call her father, does it mean that the father knew about the beast? And what kind of crazy parent would leave a kid in a room with a wolf? Milas had to stop thinking about the memory as he felt a splitting headache. He looked at Step who seemed obsessed with his face. They stared at each other til

The large brown eyes looked deep into his soul like they were searching for any speck of evil that Milas had in there. It was a weird moment for Milas who wasn't used to maintaining eye contact with others, well except for the cute female servant back at the mansion. The difference was that he was the one toying with her emotions but this girl was just staring at him like his face was a map to lead her back home. It was uncomfortable to say the least."Well I don't really want to trouble you." The girl said in a meek voice. The amount of vulnerability that she showed him made it impossible for Milas to just walk away. There was something inside him that just refused to let him leave no matter how much his mind tried to convince him to move."Don't worry about it, you can tell me anything. I don't want to see you crying when I know that I could've helped. If I can't help I'll be happy to give you a shoulder to cry on." Milas was surprised by how gentle he sounded. The line was moving swiftly as there were many students with the warrior class. Milas was wondering what class he would get. "I want something special. The warrior class sounds way too common. What if I don't even get a class since I wasn't born a vampire? But what if I'm like the originals since I was turned? That would be awesome but troublesome as I don't want all the attention. Ugh! This is stressful. I'll just have to deal with whatever happens when it happens cause there's no use thinking about it now."Milas was lost in his thoughts when he heard a few gasps. He looked at the tubes and saw something very strange. The multicolored chaos energy was high but so was the pitch black aver. The weirdest thing was the ash grey shadow element. It had remained steady for everyone else but it was low for the teenager. It was barely able to reach the quarter mark. The student in question was number twenty three who looked stunned by the result."Congratulations kid, your class is the rare
