Chapter 15: Carl Interesting to Narukha

Narukha tried to catch his breath when he reached the top of the tree. He had just eaten the fruit from the Albizia tree, and now his body was lying limp with his heart beating fast.

"I'm sorry for taking the mission at this level easy," Cloe said beside Narukha.

"I didn't underestimate it, but I didn't expect that the monsters and challenges we faced at level one were like that," Latusha complained, responding to Cloe's words.

On the other hand, Narukha just didn't care to listen to the answers of the two of them. Narukha was still chewing the slightly sweet tasting fruit in her hands now.

Likewise the other players who looked exhausted and caught their breath. Some of them still feel the euphoria of fear after the struggle up to the top of the tree.

Luckily the group of arapaima fish below them didn't notice any movement.

Narukha had already suspected that.

Witnessing how the arapaima fish were very focused when they tore apart their prey, and were adept at chasing after their prey, Narukha knew that the fish's olfactory sensors were indeed sensitive to the scent of blood.

Shortly when Narukha was enjoying the silence himself, suddenly a system blue screen appeared in front of his face.

[PLAY QUEST COMPLETED!]

[Players must arrive at the gathering point to pick fruit on Albizia Julibrissin plants]

[LOCATION: BARROR AREA]

[Time Required: Done]

[Time Remaining: Done]

[Status: Completely Success!]

Narukha took a deep breath because he thought a notification warning of something dangerous would appear. He noticed a blue screen system in front of his face that seemed to be processing something.

[CONGRATULATIONS! YOU GOT A NEW POINT SKILL!]

[TAP TO OPEN IT!]

Narukha's brows furrowed. For a split second, Narukha hesitated at the instructions on the system's blue screen.

Narukha pressed the system blue screen that appeared in front of her face. He waited for the blue screen to change into a box with the title written on it:

ACCUMULATED SKILL POINTS.

Then under that title there is a display of several skills that get new points. The result of the mission that Narukha did earlier.

[LOGICAL THINKING: 3 —>>> 6]

[STRATEGIC SIMULATION: 3 —>>> 8]

[PUNISHING & KILL: 3 —>>> 6]

Narukha's brows furrowed even more. Is this a good sign? Or is it a bad sign because the numbers are so small?

The young man did not know at all how good the level of increase was or was not. For him, a point increase of just five or even three was a small amount compared to the gamble of his life earlier.

Narukha took a shaky breath. He missed the options to read how many total points for his skills. All Narukha cared about now was that she could calm down without having to hear Cloe and Latusha giggle.

"But did you see how the mouth of the arapaima fish was?" Cloe said behind her laughing face.

Latusa nodded her head. "Her mouth is very long like the shape of a gun. I thought they will shoot the bullets and we could have it on display at home."

Then Latusha and Cloe laughed together. To be more precise, laughing at the monster they faced moments ago.

Narukha groaned at the sound of their conversation. He still remembers how scared Latusha and Cloe were when they faced the arapaima monster. But now, they were laughing at the shape of the arapaima monster, as if they were belittling it.

Even though Narukha admitted that the shape of the Arapaima monster he faced earlier was indeed strange.

'Ah, fuck it. Why should I pay attention to the conversation between the two of them?' Narukha thought, ending with a rough sigh.

Narukha decided to turn off the system's blue screen flashing in front of her face, then closed her eyes. His body immediately lay down on this thin grass field.

"Hey, your strategy just now was good too."

Someone's voice, to be precise a woman's, sounded very close to Narukha's ear. But Narukha thought that maybe someone had asked Cloe or Latusha to talk. So, Narukha still lay down while closing his eyes.

"Hey? Can you hear me?"

Narukha frowned. Why was there no response from Cloe or Latusha?

"You're sleeping! Ah, I know you haven't actually fallen asleep yet. Why didn't you answer me?"

Gradually a woman's voice sounded urgent. Then Narukha felt his body being shaken from the side.

"Narukha, you were summoned!" said Cloe in a slightly hushed voice.

Narukha opened his eyes. He jumped in surprise as he witnessed a woman crouching right to his left. If Narukha immediately changed his position to sit down, it was certain that his forehead would hit one of the woman's knees.

"Hey!" Narukha spontaneously voiced, reprimanding.

Cloe and Latusha were a little surprised by Narukha's reaction.

Narukha had changed his position to sit, looking strangely at the woman with short hair and a crooked crooked smile.

Wait. If you pay close attention, Narukha seems to know who this woman is.

"You didn't hear the person you were talking to?" quipped the woman with a sarcastic tone.

Narukha was still trying to rack her brain, remembering who the woman beside her was now.

"Who are you?" asked Narukha, spontaneously. His wary instincts are always on, like every time he meets someone new. "You talking to me?"

The short hair woman frowned.

"We haven't really met yet, and, yes, I asked you to talk. Who do you think I was going to talk to?"

Narukha's gaze immediately fell on Cloe and Latusha who shook their heads, completely clueless. Then the short haired woman followed Narukha's gaze, then gave a short sarcastic laugh.

"You idiot. I thought you were smart after coming up with the strategy of dodging the arapaima monsters."

Narukha did not agree with this sentence that sounded like a mockery of a foreign woman. Even though he didn't say it, Narukha tried to show it through facial expressions.

"Don't you understand when I talk to you?" asked the short-haired woman.

Narukha's heavy breaths were heard. He looked away arrogantly.

"I don't want to talk to you," Naruto said firmly. "That's why I don't care."

Hearing Narukha's answer made the short haired woman beside her look surprised. The short haired woman was slightly challenged by Narukha's aloofness.

"Okay. I'm just saying, your strategy was very interesting." The short haired woman ended her words with a haughty expression.

Narukha patted his left thigh because the grass stuck to her pants. Not wanting to answer the words of the woman beside him.

"You, don't feel hurt by his reaction. He is like that, but very nice." Cloe tried to persuade the woman with short hair while laughing giddily.

The short hair woman only watched Narukha through a thin crooked smile. As long as he paid attention to Narukha, the youth's aura emitted something interesting.

"It's okay. I'm interested in an unhypocritical person like him."

Narukha stopped slapping his thighs, flinched for a moment, then lifted his face. He noticed the short haired woman who had risen from a sitting position.

Narukha's eyebrows knit together. The short hair woman's words seemed to touch his feelings. Wait, what is the name for Narukha from that woman?

A human that aren't hypocrites?

Did that woman already know the ins and outs of Narukha's personality—which is, she just already knew him for a while?

***

"Narukha."

Narukha's steps stopped when Carl suddenly blocked her steps. The arrogant man—Narukha's special name for Carl—carried three bodyguards on the right, left and back. They didn't leave any space for Narukha to step through.

"Can you not get in my way?" Narukha replied curtly to Carl.

Carl curved a big smile, feeling attracted to Narukha.

"Hey, don't be cold to me like that. Shouldn't you be grateful for getting compliments from me?"

'What compliment? His tone of voice and the way he smiles just makes me sick," thought Narukha.

Instead of saying his thoughts, Narukha was about to walk through. But unfortunately a bodyguard Carl immediately shifted and covered the gap in the road that Narukha was going to pass.

"You can't leave before our boss finishes talking," said the guard in front of Narukha.

Annoyed, Narukha jerked the guard's hands so they wouldn't touch him. Narukha took three steps back and looked back at Carl.

"What do you want?" asked Narukha, calm but pressing.

Carl's discordant laughter was heard. "Gosh, why do you always get to the point like that? We can talk casually."

"I don't need casual talk with someone like you." Narukha gave an affirmation at the end of his sentence.

From the look on Carl's face, Narukha already knew that this arrogant man was feeling a bit offended. Indeed Carl's weakness is hearing someone refer to himself in disparaging tones.

It was easy to read Carl's personality for Narukha.

"Like me? Ah..." Carl immediately changed his face to be bright. He forced the corners of his lips into a smile. "I know you're still mad with the way I talked to you, but what I'm saying now really..."

There is a speech pause. Narukha knew Carl's smile now was fake. Because of that Narukha didn't feel flattered at all because Carl had praised him.

"Don't you feel that you are superior to other potential members of the System Warrior troop?"

Narukha frowned. Why did Carl's tone now sound like he was trying to provoke him?
