The vampire slowly opens the doors. It was indeed a lady holding a baby in her arms. The lady was a bit surprised that she saw a man opening that door. She must have expected that Liora would open it.
When the door was open, Liora shouts as loud as she could tell the lady to run away from this place. The lady immediately notices Liora was on the floor and starts to question the vampire instead of running.
"Who're you, young man… What're you doing inside Liora house and why is Liora on the floor?" The lady said that.
The vampire didn't reply at all as he showed his bloodthirsty expression towards the lady. The moment he does that, I could sense that this vampire was using another spell. I know pretty well about it as I always do it when I am in a challenging situation to get some items.
The spell that he was using was none other than a charm spell, reading the magical energy that the vampire used on that spell. I guess it was one of the basic ones. It would not be that effective against someone like me. But if it was the lady, I'm sure she would fall to it quickly.
"Begone from this place, you will return to your cabin and remember nothing of this…" The vampire said in a calm voice.
The lady slowly walks away from the cabin but there's something that makes the vampire irritated. It was the crying sound of the baby in the lady's arm. It was so loud that the vampire couldn't stand it anymore.
The vampire snatches the baby from the lady's arm and kills it instantly. He then just threw the corpse away without any remorse at all.
Seeing that incident in front of her eyes, Liora stands up from the ground and punches the vampire in the face. The vampire was unfazed by Liora's punch at all. Clearly, it does not inflict any pain at all.
"How could you! How could you kill a baby like that… You're a monster!" Her fear had gone entirely after witnessing the whole incident. The only feeling she had now was hatred and anger towards the vampire in front of him.
The vampire grabs Liora's arm and looks at her directly in her eyes. "There are too many humans in this world and the human population would never decrease just because a baby has been killed." The vampire says, "Besides, the baby means nothing to me. Baby blood doesn't even taste any good at all."
Hearing the vampire world, it makes Liora much angrier than before. She began to curse the vampire and started to punch the vampire using her other hand as well. But the vampire just stands there as he watches Liora's futile effort.
Of course, I also disliked what the vampire had done towards the baby. If I still had the body, this vampire wouldn't even lay a finger on the baby as my powerful light spell would obliterate the vampire.
"Liora! Like I told you before, you can't beat this vampire without using a light spell." I said that, realizing it was the only hope for Liora to kill this vampire. "Concentrate and imagine a light orb in your hand."
After I said that, I could feel that all of Liora's magical energy had to gather in her hand. It seems that Liora managed to do that and there's indeed a light in her palm right now. She successfully cast light magic without any experience at all.
I realize that Liora does have a talent in magic despite having a small magical power.
The vampire was very surprised at it, "What! Aren't you just a village girl…"
It does not seem that powerful but I think it would do the job. Liora then directed the light orb in her hand onto the vampire's face.
"aAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAh!" The vampire screamed in pain as he could feel the pain.
I thought it would finish the vampire for sure. Still, this was better than nothing as Liora could finally escape. "Liora! This is your chance to escape and maybe call out some capable men…"
Liora was just about to fall as it seemed that she couldn't maintain balance at all. She tried to take another step forward but immediately dropped to her knees. She seems to be out of breath as well and I realize what has happened.
I could feel that Liora consciousness was fading away. I couldn't let that incident happen yet again. This time indeed, I would save this girl from it. That's the only reason why I created this spell in the first place.
I am not quite sure whether this would still work as I had become a ring. I pray that this will work or I will see Liora's corpse in front of me.
There's one other problem that was whether I had enough magical energy to give to Liora. As I had become a ring, I doubt that my magical energy was the same as when I had my body. I was hesitating for a moment but when I saw Liora right now. I know what I must do right now.
I have not perfected this transfer energy spell yet but there's no time. I then chant the spell. I don't need to worry about fulfilling the requirement to do this spell, as we're basically in touch with each other right now.
The vampire didn't even care about Liora at the moment. He was in the middle of recovery right now.
"Where is my baby?" The lady says as she seems to be free from the vampire charm spell. I guess the spell must lose its effect when the vampire gets hurt by the light orb.
The lady then saw something that made her speechless for a moment. As she saw a dead baby in front of her, she could tell that it was indeed her baby lying on the ground. I could see that tears started coming out of her eyes.
She held her dead baby in her arms as she then caught sight of the blood on the vampire's hands. The lady then shouted towards the vampire as she demanded to know what had happened.
"Tell me! Are you the one that kills my baby… tell me… tell me." She said as she punched the vampire in the body.
I didn't pay attention to the lady anymore as I noticed a little movement that Liora had made. Does the spell work?
"Hey!!! Liora, could you hear me."
Liora opened her eyes slowly, "Is that you ring that's been talking to me? What happened…" She said that to me.
Suddenly we both hear a scream coming from the lady. I was not aware of what had occurred but all that I could see was the vampire killing the lady. The lady slowly falls to the ground with her dead baby as well.
"I will kill you! You shouldn't have to kill her." Liora shouted as she witnessed everything.
The vampire faces towards Liora direction, "Still alive? I thought you had died because of a magic deficiency." The vampire said as he touched his scarface, "It's good that you're alive, girl, as I will surely kill you in a gruesome way."
"You would pay…" Liora says that as she was furious, she stood back up from the floor. She clenched her fist and it seemed like she wanted to punch the vampire again.
The vampire was advancing towards Liora slowly but something made him stop. "You!" the vampire shouts while pointing at Liora.
"Now, I understand. You're a mage and this time you've been suppressing your magical aura to make you look like a normal village girl."
The moment I heard that I felt a bit weird why the vampire called Liora a mage. Suppressing her aura? What nonsense was that as she clearly doesn't do that, Liora just had a faint magical aura, that's all.
But to my surprise Liora had cast another light orb spell and launched it towards the vampire. The light orbs weren't that fast as the vampire could dodge it easily.
I was confused when I saw that Liora cast another spell. That should be impossible as she couldn't cast it again because she will collapse after that if she does cast it. It was hard to believe that Liora was still standing and kept casting it over and over again.
It's almost like Liora suddenly had a vast amount of magical energy. I then understood what had happened to Liora. The reason why she can cast it was because of my magical energy. There's no limit to the transfer and because of that, all my magical energy was given to her at that time.
I assume that the transfer would stop when it reaches the max capacity of someone's magical energy. I never expected that this would happen and somehow, I still managed to remain conscious, maybe because I will never feel that way anymore as I am a r
Even with the vast magical energy that Liora had at this moment, it would be a waste if she keeps doing the light orb spell. It doesn't even hit the vampire even once and I know that Liora needed to learn a new kind of spell to kill this vampire."Liora stops wasting magical energy like that. I know that you're angry but try to control the anger," I say as she didn't seem to listen to me.Liora kept casting the light orb spell as the vampire slowly advanced towards her."Hahaha! I assume you're a novice mage… you couldn't cast any other spell and it took you quite a long time to cast one." The vampire says as both of his hands had transformed into a sharp blade and if that hit Liora, I am sure that she would die instantly. When I took a closer look at that sharp blade, I noticed that there's some spell that had been cast on it. If I was not mistaken, I think the spell was called Decaying Blood.I don't use that kind of spell but I do have experienced its effect before. When I was in a
"There's no need for you to feel guilty at all. You didn't even know that the man was a vampire," I say that to comfort Liora. "You should be proud of yourself as you did manage to kill the vampire…""Proud? There's nothing to be proud of." Liora says as tears keep falling, "I am the causes of their death! I was the one that did that… I-I-I""Listen here, Liora. You aren't the one at fault here. The blame should be on me. I let my guard down even though I did notice that the man's magical aura was different." I say that Liora shouldn't pin all of the guilt on her alone. I was as responsible as she was in causing this death. It's tough for me to convince Liora that she wasn't the one to blame in this matter. Even if she had known it earlier, there's nothing Liora could do. Liora was lucky as she had my magical energy to use and also she was able to cast the greater fireball. If not, Liora would surely die by the vampire's hand and this whole village would be slaughtered. Thank god that
From afar, I could hear a scream coming from the mansion. It was pretty loud as I think they're all shouting for help. Liora was still unconscious and it seems there's no way she would wake any time now.Somehow I feel glad that Liora was unconscious right now. Suppose she did manage to make it to the mansion and face of the vampires there. Liora wouldn't be able to survive as she would be dead in a matter of seconds.I don't know what's gotten into me but it's almost like I don't care about everyone else in this world except Liora. Liora does look similar to her; her eyes and hair… all of it looks the same. The more I look at Liora. There's a strange sensation that I felt in my heart right now. It's almost like I had felt this before. It was when I met the same girl as Liora in Aeqelar back. What was this feeling? I found it weird and it had happened to me before. Still, I can describe what I was feeling. Was it guilt? Was it really guilt… I wonder if that was really what I feel rig
This is what people always do when the blame is on them. They would put it on others just to lighten up their guilt that has placed in their heart at the moment. I think this is what Liora is doing right now. But Liora wasn't at fault at all and there's no reason for her to bear the guilt. The one to blame for this destruction was the vampires and Madam Nia. She was the one that invited the vampires into this village in the first place. If Madam Nia doesn't invite them, all of this would never happen and this village might still exist as it used to. Still, there's no use for me to tell Liora that as she would definitely reject it at all. She will just keep blaming herself or me. The best thing I could do right now was to explain that I didn't put any spell on her that made her faint at that time. "Liora… I don't put any spell on you at all. It was all an effect of you casting the advanced spell and the amount of magical energy that you received from me." I say that as I hope she wi
Liora left the mansion as there's nothing left there. The only thing we could find was the sapphire brooch. I did ask Liora whether she would sell the brooch for some gold. She answered that she wanted to keep the sapphire brooch for herself. It's for her to remind her of what had happened in this village. A keepsake item that Liora wanted to hold on with her.If that was what Liora chose to do, I guess I had no rights to ask her to sell. Besides, the sapphire brooch does have a sentimental value of its own, so I think it's better this way."Okay, what's next? Do you want to start your training right now…" I asked Liora that as she does need to train to become a mage."Let's hold the training first. We must report this to the town. The people in the town need to be aware that there's a vampire around the area. I do not want anyone to die again." Liora said that."You're right, Liora, we should tell the authority about the vampire."Our next destination was the town that was not far fr
Seeing that the captain also behaves like this. Liora didn't have much choice but to leave the barrack. Well, I would do the same thing as well. Guards in this town don't even seem to care at all."So, what's now? Straight to training…""No, I have some other things to do first. I wanted to quit my job at the tavern and then we would go to train.""Quit your jobs! Why?" I say that as Liora needed the gold to survive, if she quit her job, that would mean she wouldn't have any gold. Liora's cabin was burned down and all of her valuable stuff was gone, including gold."You asking why? So that I can dedicate myself to training and hunt the vampires down… If the guards don't want to help, I would be the one who was going to do it.""But how're you going to survive? Do you have enough gold left?""It's not much but I think I will manage it. Unless you also had to eat and drink like me, Arvon.""Okay, it's up to you then but there's still a problem… Which is where you're going to stay from n
"My village has been destroyed by vampires…"As the woman hears that, she looks surprised. "What! Vampires… I thought that creatures wouldn't do that as they hate to gain attention.""So you do not believe them… just like the guards.""It's kinda hard to believe what you're saying, Liora." The woman then puts her hand on Liora's shoulder as she continues to say, "But I trust you, you're not that kind of a girl that would tell lies...""Thank you… I am here to quit my job. I have to pursue the vampire and kill it for the sake of my village.""That I cannot do, you would be killed! Let the guards handle this problem…""The guards wouldn't do anything! I already told them and they all just laughed at me and said it wasn't real." Liora said that."Then, I would go there personally and smack the guards until they listen to you.""No need to do that. I already made up my mind as I would be the one to kill the vampires," Liora said with full determination."You would just die! You're powerle
After a while, Liora finally found a place that was good enough for her to start practicing magic. The area was pretty vast and there's nothing that will happen even if Liora messed up some spell. It's better than the previous place that Liora suggested which was near the forest. There's no way I wanted Liora to practice magic there. It was not safe as there was a monster in the forest and what would happen if she failed to control the spell. As I was thinking of teaching her a fire-based spell. If Liora messed up, the whole forest might be consumed by fire and I don't want that to happen. This place was the perfect spot as there's nothing that will burnable things and it's close to a river. There's no nearby village of any sort and I think there's no dangerous monster around here.Even if there's a monster, it will be easily spotted as there's nothing that will obstruct our view. That also makes us quite visible as well but I think Liora could handle some low-level monster pretty fin
