“Good morning guys…” the man said as he reached the front of the class, He paused a bit before he continued with a light smile on his face, “At this point in time, you guys all probably already know me and know who I am, what my name is. But following the formalities, I should probably introduce myself properly, so… my name is Omaye Michael, you can call me Mr. Michael, or maybe call me Sir Michael or Teacher Michael or even Lord Michael, I won’t mind that at all…” at this point, the man chuckled to himself a bit, feeling pleased with his little joke that managed to receive a decent amount of laughs from the class of students staring at him, before he continued, “You all should know me as your class adviser, I’m the person you can come to meet if you have any issues or questions concerning your academics or whatnot. But before I say anything else, here’s one question…

Are you ready?”

“Yeah we are!”

“Well for now I’ll accept you barely are but I’ll have you guys know that you can never be too prepared

You all have a number of exams to begin writing that I trust won’t be much of a hindrance to you. But I’ll tell you now though that it’s not the hardest or the most important part of the whole process of leaving high school and heading to college.

What’s the hardest is actually what seems to be the easiest to some or most of you sometimes, which is choosing the right path or choosing the right career choice for yourselves…”

The whole class remained so silent you could hear a pin drop as the adviser went on and on about different things related to either the upcoming graduating exams, career choices, social skills and generally life itself. Kyng looked down at his watch as he watched over an hour pass by on the talk. The only good thing about it was the fact that it was rather interesting, being more of a conversation between teacher and students than a speech from the principal

“…So I’ll say it again, although you might have to sacrifice a few things in the course of studying or acquiring skills and aiming to properly learn more things, it’ll all be worth it in the end. Some of you might end up not even going to college and still make it more than the others. Don’t be surprised at that point, it’s all about your choices, skill and perseverance…”

“…Alright, now that’s about everything I can currently remember to say and advise you guys on. Remember that I’m your class adviser, once you have any questions or problems that seems to be confusing or seems to be a hindrance or hard to solve, you can come over to my office or reach out to me on the school’s website, I’ll try to be available every hour of the day, at times when I’m not, you can just post your message and I’ll be sure to check on it and send a reply. Anyth-“

At the point when he was about ending his words, the class adviser heard a sharp buzz and felt a vibration coming from the watch on his wrist, “Hm?”

He cut off his words subconsciously and looked down, raising his right hand to his chest level as he tapped on the screen of his smart watch with his left hand, clicking on a newly appeared message.

“Oh…”

About three seconds passed staring at the watch before he raised his head up to address the students, “Okay guys, so that’s going to be all I have to say for now, but it’s not the end, you’ll have to excuse me in a while as I’ll be leaving your class to go bring someone over from my office, that person is a new fellow classmate of you all…”

On hearing that, everybody busted into discussion, turning to look at their seat partners as they began talking to each other, some looked curious, some looked excited. Of course those who looked excited were mainly the boys, these fellas that tended to think more with their brain down below were anticipating the identity of the new student that suddenly appeared in their school, if it was a girl, then that would be great, if the girl was then a beauty then that would be all the more wonderful to them.

The female students seated in the class shook their heads exasperatedly upon seeing the agitated expressions on the boys. To them, even if it was another handsome boy coming in, they still wouldn’t react much. Girls tended to be more stubborn and prideful in that regard.

They might be interested or impressed by the new student if it was really a very handsome guy but they would rather find ways to chat about him privately or secretly consider how to approach him. Never would they express their emotions as openly as the boys did.

“Alright, pipe down, all of you…” the class adviser looked slightly exasperated as he chuckled lightly, “Save that wild burst of energy for focusing on things that are more important. And also, this new classmate of yours is of a foreign descent, meaning this classmate is going to feel a little left out and disconnected if you don’t warm up properly and show the positive aspects and hospitality we have here in this country. I really don’t want to hear, that the lot purposely isolated or ignored them. that’ll be rather disappointing and very wrong of you… Also, I’m saying this now doesn’t mean you go and treat them like a lab monkey, staring all the time and acting weird…”

Some of the students broke into a light chuckle on hearing this,

“You know what, I probably shouldn’t have mentioned any of this in the first place, but now that I have, you all must make sure that nothing changes with regards to your actions or behavior, just act like this last conversation never happened.”

And with those words, he strode out of the classroom with quickened steps.

A second passed in silence after the class adviser left the class, then another second, and then five more. When the whole class was sure he had gone past hearing distance, they immediately burst into chatters, each student found a group he could fit into as they started various discussions, all of them actually revolving around the new classmate they were having. Donald also began talking, pulling in the reluctant Dayo and Kyng as they to what he said.

“Hey Dayo, how about we make a bet on whether it’s a boy or a girl. I can feel strongly that it’s a girl, so I’ll bet on that…”

Donald said enthusiastically,

“I don’t care and I still won’t bet on something like that even if I care. Besides, what does it matter if it’s a boy or a girl anyways…” Dayo lazily replied as he tossed his head to the back, laying it on a table behind him, looking totally uninterested.

Donald sighed on seeing this and hearing his reply, “You hopeless virgin”

Dayo turned his head to the right, still laying on the table behind him, staring at Donald for a while before replying,

“You’re the same as well anyways so whatever”

“You d*mn-“

Donald was about to rage as if a sore spot of his had been touched on when Kyng cut into the conversation and ended the premature argument. “Make you guys shut up nah, let’s hear word pls…”

The two of them turned to look at Kyng and then looked away on hearing what he said, subconsciously quietening down. Dayo chuckled lightly, “Sorry” he said, knowing Kyng had something on his mind but couldn’t think clearly because of their arguing.

“I won’t be for any longer soon though…” Donald said spitefully at the side after a while of silence and was then ignored.

“What do you guys think about making this year as memorable as it could be?” After a longer while of silence, Kyng finally spoke again as he looked to his right at the two rascals he had for friends. His words immediately got the two’s attention

“What do you have in mind?” Donald said feeling immediately intrigued and interested, he subconsciously sat straighter on his side of the chair, excitement and enthusiasm growing in his black eyes. Even Dayo showed approval of the idea on his face as he waited quietly for Kyng to continue.

“Well I was thinking we brainstorm different things to keep as memories, it can involve the school and also be outside. I thought up a few already and I was thinking we list them out till about 20 of them. what do you guys think?”

“…Hmm, so make I understand well first, we make something like a bucket list, a bucket list of twenty things, twenty things wild and memorable enough to leave us with good final memories of the school?” Dayo said with a thoughtful expression

“Well yeah, good final memories of the school and the final years of our teen hood…” Kyng responded, looking to Dayo.

Knowing his input was needed, he spoke up, “Well it definitely sounds cool and all, that’s for certain. But what are the things we could do?”

“No matter what the things we do are, we have to do one thing that goes viral, what say you guys?” before Kyng could respond, Donald cut in as he suggested.

Kyng paused for a second before he carefully asked, “What are you thinking of?”

“Spray painting, you guys should have seen the yellow statues of three men standing side by side, the Aro meta, some monument or whatever that it is. Why don’t we get cans of spray paint and give them a makeover…”?

Kyng simply stared in silence, he knew he suggested doing something wild but this was borderline crazy, not to mention the years of jail time they’d be having over their heads

“I don’t think those statues are yellow in color though…” Dayo said with a thoughtful look. His brain and thoughts hadn’t actually registered what Donald had just said yet, “…I think they’re like white or crea… Wait, be like say I no hear wetin he talk. Wetin he just talk?” (Wait, I think I didn’t hear what he said, what did he just say?”) He asked dumbfounded.

“Wetin? (What?)” Dayo asked somewhat aggressively expecting Dayo to oppose him, “I know you heard me. Besides, it’s such a great thought, I don’t know why no one else has ever tried it. We could paint the one on the left into a walking dead, we could paint the one on the right and make him seem like he’s wearing a bikini, while we can paint the one in the middle to make him look like MJ, it’ll be epic.”

Following his words this time, it was both Kyng and Dayo staring at him speechlessly.

A minute passed by while Donald kept on a straight face showing he was rather proud of his idea and ignored the odd looks he was being given before Kyng finally found the breath to speak up again, “Okay wait. Disregarding the outrageousness of the idea. Even if and I’m only saying ‘if’ we decided to do what you just said, how do you expect us to paint the statues in their entirety. Not even mentioning the cost of doing all of this, how are we going to reach the higher points of the statue. You know those statues are probably over ten meters tall sha?”

“That’s easy,” Dayo said looking confident like he was pitching a million-dollar idea, “We’ll just get one of those machine with very long handles that lifts things, what do they call them again… on yeah, Cranes!”

The two that were previously already speechless couldn’t help but question which world they were living in at the moment.
