Chapter Thirty-four

Armand pushed the girl away, his expression a mix of confusion and alarm. "What are you doing?" he asked, his voice firm but polite.

His mom quickly joined them, a smile on her face. "Armand, this is Rachel and her daughter, Sonia. They're old friends of ours."

Rachel smiled warmly. "We've known your mom for years, Armand. And I've always prayed that our kids would grow up and end up together."

Armand's eyes widened in confusion. "End up together?"

Rachel laughed. "Yes, dear. I've always thought you two would make a lovely couple."

Armand shared a sceptical look with his mom, his mind racing with questions. What was going on? Why were they talking about him ending up with this girl?

He tried to politely extricate himself. "It was nice to meet you, Rachel, and your daughter. I hope Sonia finds a good man to marry."

Rachel beamed. "Oh ,I'm sure she already has, dear."

Armand excused himself, feeling overwhelmed. "I'm going to rest for a bit. Nice meeting you all."
