Chapter Thirty-nine

Jack was right.

That was what was running through Vanessa's mind as she sat in her office waiting for Raymond Morris.

He had called earlier and requested to meet with her. He said he had a thriving business deal that he would like to discuss.

Vanessa didn't want to go into partnership with Raymond, but Armand asked her to.

Jack had assured them that Raymond would try to jeopardize the deal, and Armand believed him.

A knock on the door brought her out of her thoughts.

"You can enter." Vanessa said.

Raymond Morris walked into the office, a smile on his face. Vanessa wasn't fooled by the smile. She knew very well Raymond was nothing but a wolf in sheep's clothing.

"Good day, Vanessa. How're you doing?" Raymond asked after he had taken a seat.

"I'm good. And you?" Vanessa responded.

"As you can see, I'm fine. How're your parents and their business?" Raymond asked. If Vanessa didn't know better, she would think he actually cared.
