CHAPTER 29

I looked around the room, wondering where I was.

"What is this place?" The space was dark and cold.

Dark clouds obstructed my vision.

I continued to walk further into the space with the hope that I might find something or someone; anything or anyone at all.

Eventually, the clouds dissipated and I could clearly see the room now.

It was exactly the same as the secret room I had found in the building.

When I saw people around the beds, I rushed further into that side of the room.

While my mother laid on one bed; the one that I had assumed to be hers, some boy not so much older than me, laid on the other one.

He must be Zenin.

I recall seeing him somewhere but I couldn't remember exactly where I had seen him.

He felt so familiar.

"Ava, you don't have to do this if you do not wish to do it." My father held one of my mother's hands, sitting by the side of her bed.

Her tummy wasn't protruded so she must not have been pregnant with me by this time.
