Such a bad-luck

"He is such a badluck. Ever since he came into this orphanage, it's being one trouble or the another. I don't know what the priest sees in him to still allow him here," another said.

"He is of age and should be sent out of here but his useless self wouldn't want to leave cause he want to end this orphanage. Our reputation has being tarnished," another scorned.

Richard tried seating up but fell back immediately due to the pain he felt in his head.

The door was pushed opened and Mike rushed in. "I warned you Richard. You just don't listen at all." He tried his best to speak as calmly as he could but his voice failed him.

Richard could tell how angry he was.

He went on, "You have being fired from your jobs. Because I am your friend, I have also being fired. Your picture is trending in the internet and you have being tagged a bad egg. You will never get a job in this city. Your life has being messed with by those evil rich men. Even the orphanage is being affected cause the sponsors have cut off from us. You are lucky you still have your scholarship at the school but what good would it do to you? Your life is hopeless now."

"I didn't do anything wrong!" Richard cried but no one was there to help him. No one was there to believe him.

He was all alone. They all hated them. Their stares were enough to bore deep holes into him.

"He should have died with his family to save us this mess." One of the staff said out loud not minding the damages her words would do to his emotional and mental health.

"You are right. Just because of him still being alive, our orphanage is ruined. our children are ruined. We have no hope. Everyone withdrew from helping us. He is a mistake to this world." Another seconded spitefully, only adding more pain.

Richard head spinned, hearing the words coming out of their lips. Was their hatred so deep to have made them utter those harsh words?

"That's enough!" The assistant director spoke out and walked into the room.

She took her burning gaze to Richard and he could fill her hatred for him through her glare.

"The orphanage is ruined because of you and the priest is still not willing to punish you. Anyway, we will all punish you," she faced the others, "From now on, no one should give him food or water. He is not allowed to take anything in this orphanage until the priest comes back. I don't care if he survives or dies but this is his punishment. He deserves to die for ruining the life of other children in this orphanage!" she half yelled and stomped out of the room immediately.

Richard knew his life was ruined.

But, he needed an answer to what was going on? He wanted to know why Danica would go that far to betray him? What about the love they shared? She didn't consider that? He loved her so, so much.

He shut his eyes, allowing his tears to flow down his cheeks.

...

Just as the assistant director said, Richard wasn't given any food or water for a complete day. His throat was dry. He was weak and couldn't move his legs.

Death would have been the better solution but the universe wasn't nice enough to make his wish come through.

His wounds were infected and the pain he felt was second to none. The priest wasn't back and that meant his punishment would go on for days.

While staring at the ceiling, thinking about what would become of him, the door opened and Mike walked in.

He looked around to make sure no one was looking before he walked in completely and closed the door behind him.

"Richard, you need to get up and eat this immediately. You need your strength."

Richard was too weak to speak and couldn't ask what was going on seeing the concern and urgency written all over his friend's face.

Mike brought out a piece of bread and placed it before him. "I could only save this tiny piece. It was really hard getting anymore as the orphanage staffs were keeping an eye on me and everyone. They are really serious about starving you to death."

Mike helped put the bread in his mouth to which he ate hungrily and hurriedly, been starved for a day. Although it was little and wasn't enough for him, Mike's kindness gave him a little strength.

"You need it to run now. The cops are looking for you." He dropped the bombshell after minutes of silence.

"What.... what did I do?" He was finally able to ask, after much struggle.

"Apparently, you are been wanted for assaulting Danica and her boyfriend. It is all over the internet and the cops would be here in no time."

Richard trembled at the news. Getting arrested, wasn't part of his plan.

"But......if....if I run...... it would.....make the crime..... worst." He shuttered as tears flow down his eyes.

"Richard you never committed this crime. You are innocent. This is just the rich people trying to use their power against we poor. They can just stumble upon us cause we have nothing. Once you are being arrested, it is over for you cause they will make sure you spend the rest of your life there."

He did have a point. No one would have pity on him.

"Where.....where should I go?"

"Anywhere. Out of the city. Just find a way." He helped him up to which Richard groaned when his sores where touched.

Mike felt pity for his best friend but there was nothing he could do to help. He walked towards the door with Richard limping beside him and staining his shirt to which he didn't cared.

He opened the door and was met with cold gazes on them. Mike gasped while Richard's heart stopped. They caught up with them. There was no escape.

"You are under arrest Richard Flair....."
