Moving In

"Argh!" I groaned as I opened my eyes. Looking around, I was in my room and on the floor. "Huh? How did I end up sleeping on the floor?" I asked myself in surprise.

Surprisingly, I could not remember anything from last night. How and why I ended up sleeping on the floor.

"It's 6 am already," I mumbled and decided to get up.

I took off my clothes and went to take my bath. I could not wait to leave the house once and for all.

After dressing and all that, I carried my bags and left my room. They were still sleeping and so by the time they'll be awake, they won't see me in the house. With a sigh of relief, I opened the door and walked out of it.

Getting outside, I was surprised to see Taylor waiting for me by the side of the gate. The moment he saw me, he smiled and rushed over.

"I thought you would not come out again," he said with a smile.

"Why wouldn't I?" I asked back and he replied with a shrug. "Let's just go," I said to him and began to walk.

He helped me with one of my bags and so we went to school. After we got to the school, we were supposed to head straight to the male dorms but then something caught out attention.

"Should we go check it out?" Taylor asked and I nodded.

Curiously, we headed to where the group of students had gathered and pushed our way to the front of the crowd. There we saw a frail-looking boy being beaten by a group of bullies.

The boy had green hair and eyes, his skin looked pale... Like he had no blood inside of him. His eyes looked dead to me and he was crying silently. Above all, he was a level 1 ability user.

"What did he do to them?" I turned and asked someone close to me.

"According to what I've heard, the five of them are all childhood friends. They come from the same town and so they know each other. The green-haired boy is a rich kid but unfortunately, he was born out of wedlock. His mother ran away from the household a year later he was born, leaving him to suffer at the hands of his step-family and father. I think it's why these four boys are beating him. More or less, we should not meddle in their affairs, those boys are strong."

After listening to the boy's reply, I stared at the four boys. One of them is a level 5 ability user while the other three are level 4 users. The boys were pretty strong, no lie. I would have loved to save the green-haired boy because he reminds me so much of myself but then I am only a level 2 user with no ability. How could I wish of saving him?

"What are you thinking about?" I heard Taylor whisper close to me.

I turned and shook my head, "I wish I could save him but I can't fight against them," I replied to him.

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's save him!" Taylor said and made to jump to the front but I was able to stop him right in time.

"What are you doing? Is that how you want to save him?" I asked him while staring at him in disbelief.

"If not like this then how?" He asked and peeled away from my hold. He rushed to the front and the first thing he did was kick the level 5 ability user on his knee. "Let the boy go!" He mumbled to the boy.

The boy groaned but that didn't deal much damage to him. He turned and glared at Taylor and the first thing that came to his mind was to check his power level. Seeing the number 6 on his wrist, the boy was quite taken aback but because he didn't want to look scared, he took hold of himself and stood up.

"Who are you?" The boy asked Taylor.

"My name is Taylor and that's my friend, Ryan," Taylor replied and motioned for me to come out.

"What the fuck?" I groaned. I didn't want to get involved because of my power level, I had expected him to just do his thing but now... calling me out? hah!

Nevertheless, I dropped my bag and joined him.

"Level 2?" The boy scoffed after seeing my power level. "What are you doing with a loser like him?" He asked Taylor.

Taylor chuckled and then replied. "What I do with him is none of your business. Your question should be... Why are we here?"

The boy was pissed but he was rational enough to know that he was no match for Taylor but even at that... "You are meddling in my business, are you not aware? This brat here is my business, you should not meddle in it!" He replied.

"I don't care what your reason is for beating him but I despise the likes of you and will stop at nothing to see that justice is served. We will leave here with him and there is nothing... Absolutely nothing that you will do about it! And if you dare make a move to attack any of us, I'll make sure you leave this school on wheels."

'Wow! I didn't know he had this side of him!' I thought to myself while staring at Taylor. The guts, the spirit... Everything about him is so cool that I can't help but envy him. Even the green-haired boy was lost in a daze, bet no one has stood up for him before.

"Let's go!" Taylor whispered to me.

I came back to my senses and helped the green-haired boy up to his feet. The boy was seriously beaten into a poop and so I had no choice but to hold him so that he won't have to fall. After Taylor had carried my bags, we walked away from there and headed to the dorms.

"Your room is the last one?" I asked Taylor as he led us to the last room in the building.

"Yes, of course. What? Don't you like it?" He replied and asked.

"Far from it. I'm just curious as to why your dorm is the last one here. I find it to be quite suspicious," I replied and glanced at him to see his reaction. He briefly smirked but that didn't go unnoticed by me because I had my eyes solely on him.

"I'm glad that you find it suspicious but don't worry, I won't do anything life-threatening," he replied and went to open the door because we had reached the room.
