Packing

After the surprise test, the school closed for the day.

Heaven knew how exhausted I was by that time, the test was something I did not expect to be brain-cracking. I had written what I think is right and now, I'm relying on my luck to pass it.

I met up with Taylor and we briefly talked about the moving-in of a thing. Tomorrow is going to be a weekend and so I'll have to move in tomorrow. After talking with him, I left him and headed home.

Upon arrival, I saw the mother and son duo waiting for me in the sitting room. The moment the lady saw me, she stood up and blocked my way.

"What are you still doing here? I thought Alex told you to leave this house for good?" She asked while eyeing me like I was some pest... Or maybe I am actually.

"He did, but am I supposed to leave empty-handed?" I asked her and rolled my eyes at her.

Just as I expected, she got more infuriated, "You son of a bitch!" She yelled and rushed to slap me.

Calling Ryan's mother a bitch was like calling mine a bitch. How dare she refer to my mother as a bitch? Who gave her that privilege? My face darkened, I clenched my fist and waited for her to try and hit me.

The moment she tried to hit me, I caught her hand and held it tightly. She was taken aback by my action and so was Alex. He rushed over immediately to hit me but I tilted my hand to the side and glared at him. I don't know why that happened but the moment he saw the look on my face, he backed away to the surprise of his mother.

"Alex! What are you doing? Come and help your mother!" She yelled to him but he didn't move an inch from where he was standing.

Feeling satisfied with his action, I turned back and faced his mother who was trying to free herself from my hold.

"Thank your stars that I have high respect for old people like you, if not, I would have made you wish you were dead!" I growled at her and then pushed her to Alex who caught her immediately to stop her from falling. I glared at the two of them briefly before I left and went into my room, slamming the door hard behind me.

Entering the room, I took off my uniform and went into the bathroom to bathe and also cool my head off. I switched on the shower and went under it to allow the cold water to pour down on me. It took me more than fifteen minutes to be through because I had to carefully watch my new hair.

Having white hair is sure a hassle, each time I take my bath, I would scrub and scrub to keep it clean or it'll look dirty and I wouldn't want that. I can't help but imagine how tiresome it was for the owner of this body to maintain its beauty. Bet he would be mocking me wherever he is right now, tsk!

I came out of the bathroom, wrapped in my short towel. I strolled to the mirror to gaze fully at this new body of mine.

"This body sure looks attractive," I mumbled while staring at myself. My former body was the opposite of this one. While the old one looked rough, malnourished, and pale despite the years of training, this one looked smooth, fleshy, and attractive. "It's no wonder Rina fell for him," I said and let out a sigh.

I stopped staring at myself and walked away from the mirror. I needed to pack all my stuff so that first thing tomorrow morning I'm leaving this goddam house. Initially, I was being skeptical about Taylor and the reasons why he wants me as his roommate but after having a thorough thought, I find out that staying with him was a lot better than staying here.

I quickly wore my clothes and began to pack some of the things that the old Ryan had, most especially his books. Seeing the number of books piled up, I began to wonder just how much the boy loved reading. And surprisingly, they were mostly about demons. Why was he so much into demons? He can't possibly be a demon right?

"No!" I shook my head at the thought.

Demons could be real, especially in this world but there is no how that the old Ryan is a demon. It can't be possible, one reason is that this body doesn't look that of a demon.

I sighed at my thoughts and continued to pack his clothes, I stuffed them inside one of the bags and when I was done with it, I proceeded to pack the few shoes he had. They weren't much, so I was quick in packing them.

Seeing that I was done packing my stuff, I heaved a sigh and wanted to go to the bed but just then, I jammed my leg against one of the bags, and I stumbled and fell.

"Damn it!" I groaned with gritted teeth. I wasn't pained because I fell but because I had hit one of my toes against a hard surface. The pain of hitting a toe against a hard object was something else. I stayed for some seconds lying on the ground and wriggling in pain and then when it had subsided, I tried to get up.

Turning my face to the bedside, I saw a book under the bed. Curiosity, they say kills the cat but unfortunately, I am not a cat. I crawled close to the bed and pulled out the book, then began to examine it carefully.

It was an old-looking book that I found to be strangely odd. I felt the aura it was emitting to be ominous, its cover was dyed red which made it look like it was made with some kind of blood or something. It had the symbol of a red eye drawn inside a circle on the front cover.

"What kind of book is this?" I mumbled after opening the first page of the book. There was nothing written inside of it, not a word was written at all. "Is it some kind of prank or what?" I asked with a squeezed face. Getting pissed off at the fact that there was nothing inside the book, I flung it away but all of a sudden, the book flew towards me and before I knew what was happening I lost consciousness.
