Power and punishment

That's why one of his men teleported and appeared behind Curtis to clasp him by the neck. But to his dismay he was greeted with a barrier like a wave of energy around him. "You think you can get anything with these tricks!?"

Raizel stepped back and as soon as he got off the table it broke down turning into ashes. The vampire count challenged Zaiden in a loud voice while scoffing, as his body began to concentrate into human form. "Certainly I am."

Zaiden was still sitting comfortably with an ignorant attitude. The bubble of energy shield was around him and Curtis, which was impermeable and unbreakable. Raizel gritted his teeth upon the helplessness since if Zaiden was one of them, then it was possible that the boy belonged to the ancient family.

The particular aristocratic family who went under seclusion after losing their grandson eons ago. And it was forbidden to talk about them or the incident of the infant. 'Fuck, I can't even harm him or else I will get myself into trouble.' Raizel acknowledged that if somehow Zaiden was the heir then it was not a wise decision to offend him anymore.

"Why do you want the ring?" It was clear to him that the little boy was aware of heirlooms but it made him curious about the reason. Zaiden put his left leg on the right one knowing that none of them could harm him. He had created the shield with traces of silver and tested it on a vampire prisoner.

"That shouldn't be your concern, count." His cold switch of tone infuriated other vampires who growled underneath the black hoodies. Count Raizel Lancaster gestured to them to remain calm since only he knew about the boy's identity.

"And why do you think I will offer you my ring, without knowing what a criminally genius kid like you would do with it?" Raizel had no idea what to expect from him since a vampire heirloom had immense power within it. And his brain couldn't process anything good from Zaiden Rivers.

The boy who was responsible for the killing spree might use the heirloom to gain power. "Tsk. You presented the offer yourself by asking me and now you're going back on your words." Zaiden tricked him into his own words.

"You can execute your killing spree but I'm not handing you any such powerful weapon." Raizel spat with a fuming face as his fangs grew longer. But the whole scenario didn't cast any effect on the boy, whereas Curtis was highly disappointed.

'So this madness is going to continue now. That's not good.' He predicted already that now Zaiden would go back to execute another plan to steal some other family treasure. Meanwhile they both had been bickering upon what to do and what not, someone entered the empty restaurant the same way.

Before the silhouette could take a form a loud voice banged in the hall making all of them halt. "Stop this nonsense!" Raizel recognized the voice and immediately shot off the seat and knelt, the act of respect was followed by all other guards too.

Whereas Zaiden felt his heart pounding unnecessarily fast and his vision enhanced. The little boy felt panicked and was sweating profusely with no idea about the changes. 'Is...is this the effect of the serum?'

The only possible theory was the serum but perhaps that was not it, Zaiden felt immense pressure coming from the man. "Father." Raizel lifted his head and faced the man who seemed to be in his late thirties with slight grey temples.

No wonder he was quite old but being a vampire had some perks. The man cast a sharp look at Zaiden and inhaled deeply to sense any different aura in the hall. The old man could feel a human, vampires and one strange sensation which was beyond his understanding.

"You….!" He pointed out at Zaiden who was still struggling with his vision and could see a magnified version of the old man. Zaiden flinched and tried to shake his head when the man signalled with his finger.

"You are the boy who has created the storm in our realm." Curtis was stunned to see that unwillingly Zaiden began walking towards him, he had lost all of his control and authority over his body. "You have no idea what you have done."

As soon as Zaiden stood in front of him Curtis trailed but halted in between. The old man raised his hand and a huge pressure of air pushed his body and the bodyguard stopped at the place.

"The humanity is not to blame for your sins and madness but you," The man declared his words in an authoritative manner while Zaiden Rivers stood there listening. 'No, I can't move. How did he make us immovable?'

Zaiden was in his own thoughts while Curtis was no different, he wanted to lift his hand to shoot but couldn't. "You have to pay for all the dead souls. Blood for blood. Do you desire power? I shall give you power which will become your punishment."

The elder Lancaster flung his arm out and his nails grew longer like sharp blades. He didn't even flinch or hesitate and slashed Zaiden' neck. Curtis wanted to shout and to attack him but couldn't, Zaiden' lifeless body fell on the floor in front of the bodyguard's eyes.

'How….did….he?' The bodyguard was extremely shocked seeing Zaiden lying lifeless on the floor, blood pooling around coming from his neck. The next thing he remembered was being hit in the head and everything blacked out.
