What Ethan said had brought Chronna back to the present.
“Yeah, you’re right. I never thought I would pilot a spaceship through a rough asteroid belt while fighting off a mutating space Salamander,” Chronna replied as she chuckled at the absurdity of her sentence.
Ethan chuckled with her. He said, “I wouldn’t have told you to drive the ship if I didn’t believe you could do it.”
Before their conversation ended, they had reached their destination already; the grand living quarter of the irregulars.
The living quarter at the moment consisted of two stories, tall structure with approximately 199 living spaces side by side.
Pointing at the last one, Ethan said, “That’s the one you go in.”
Just as Chronna and Ethan were about to head towards their current living spaces, an insect-like creature wearing something that looked like a mailman would wear, but not something a mailman from earth would wear, landed right in front of the duo.
“Greetings, Ethan! It’s so good to see you!” The creature said in a nasal voice while flapping its wings as it set itself on the ground.
“Ahh! Isn’t it Irregular-25? How nice to see you?!” Ethan asked, forcing a smile, as he was not in the mood to engage in chit chat right then.
Chronna silently watched the awkward exchange. She also then realized that Irregulars did come in many types and lifeforms.
“And this must be the new one,” the Insectoid said as it moved its gaze over to Chronna.
“Yes, this is Irregular-199. Her name is Chronna,” Ethan replied, trying to end the conversation. “We need to go―”
“When did you get here, newbie?” Irregular-25 asked Chronna, interrupting Ethan.
“It’s only been a day,” Chronna answered, seemingly uneasy.
“We had a long trip, 25. Do you mind catching up later? We have to freshen up,” Ethan intervened to let Irregular-25 know that this wasn’t the best time for chit chat.
“Oh yes! Of course, you two look tired; I am late for my mail runs too. See you soon, Ethan and Chronna!” Irregular-25 said as he flew off, flapping his cicada-like wings.
“You should head into your quarters and freshen up, and let us meet in 20 minutes for supper,” Ethan proposed.
Chronna agreed to the offer as she realized she hadn’t eaten anything since she got to MDWD.
Ethan was finally entering into his temporary lair in the building. Actually, it was still a place reserved for him, even when he already had a place not far from MDWD.
Since he was so tired, he might as well use it.
Ethan collapsed on his small little bed, throwing his bag of gadgets and supplies on the edge of the bed.
He reflected on the mission he and Chronna just accomplished.
What if they hadn’t gotten there on time?
The captain would have never been able to survive the ordeal. The brave man planned on sacrificing his own life to save the life of his space troopers.
The Salamander was indeed unstoppable; how do you even kill something that gets stronger the more you hurt it? You don’t.
Ethan tried to imagine what it could have been like if he hadn’t gotten his hands on the plasma blaster when the Salamander was ready to lunge at him from the escape pod.
What if the pod malfunctioned?
He scared himself, thinking about all the possible scenarios. Well, there’s no point in thinking about it.
It all came with the job that he had. He was the inter-dimensional pizza delivery guy, and he had to bring food to some very important creatures of the multiverse. If he didn’t help them to save their timelines, who would?
While thinking these things, Ethan got up from his bed, and he had to take a shower; he got some of the slime that was on the Salamander’s body off him, and it was disgusting.
Picking his towel up from his bed, he entered the shower.
As he cooled his head under the cold water of the shower and he thought about Chronna. He was used to this way of life by then.
But Chronna’s new there.
She left everybody and everything she knew behind her. No one even remembered her anymore.
Did she really deserve this?
Was this really for the greater good?
Who knows, this wasn’t something someone like Ethan had to think about or had to worry about, but he still did, he knew how tragic it felt to forget everything you have ever done or have ever been in your life and start a completely new life, and that, to live like this.
Oh well, he thought to himself as he wiped himself off, time to grab some grub at the eatery down the street.
He wants to take Chronna down there and eat some of their exquisite multi-dimensional food.
Ethan came out of the shower and quickly put on some fresh clothes that he had kept ready before going into the shower.
Now, I have to get Chronna, he thought.
Reaching Chronna’s door, he knocked three times. As soon as he did, Chronna opened the door for him.
“Ready to eat?” Ethan asked with a small smile.
“Yes, I am starving. Where are you going to eat?” She asked as she closed the door behind her coming out.
“It’s one of my favorite places to eat here, and it’s just down the street,” he explained.
“Let’s go then!” Chronna replied with a smile.
It didn’t take them long to reach the eatery Ethan was talking about. As they sat down to eat, Ethan asked Chronna to try the Steak leaf.
Chronna had no idea what that even meant. She asked with confusion, “What on earth even is that?”
Ethan was just realizing that he needed to elaborate a bit more before Chronna could feel comfortable eating anything there.
“Well, it’s steak from a planet situated in the 3rd dimension. It’s a planet where beef grows on trees, and here you can find steaks made from those meats. It’s really quite a deli-―” before Ethan could finish his sentence, a loud beeping noise broke it. It was Ethan’s beeper.
They have a new order now.
“Looks like there’s a new order up,” Ethan said with an awkward smile.
But hearing that, Chronna seemed to get excited.
“Let’s head out then!” Chronna said, standing up from her table, ready to leave.
“Don’t you want something to eat first?” Ethan asked, seemingly concerned for her.
“Just whip us up a pizza on the way on your 6d printer,” she replied with a playful smirk.
“Alright then, let’s head off,” Ethan responded with a smile on his face. He then pulled out his portal machine to set the course for their next pizza run.
Biting into her slice of pepperoni pizza, Chronna asked Ethan about the order and the planet they were going to visit this time.
“Well, this seems to really like his anchovies. He ordered two anchovy pizzas with mountains of that stuff on top of it,” he said while flying through space-time.
“I see. I don’t mind anchovies on my pizza as well, so I don’t blame the guy for liking it,” she said as she took another mouth full of the pizza they were eating.
“It's a planet that’s in the 12th dimension. I haven’t been there before.” Ethan said, trying to locate the planet. His eyes then brightened as he exclaimed, “There it is!”
The planet seemed to be grey in color for some reason. It looked like thunder clouds surrounded the entire planet. It almost looked apocalyptic from the outside. Ethan and Chronna felt confused as to who would live there and why someone would order pizza in a place like that. But they didn’t give it much of any thought. Their job wasn’t to think why someone would order pizza but to simply deliver it to the customer. While ascending down on top of a mountain, Ethan and Chronna both saw a lizard-like man standing alone over there. “There! That must be our guy,” Chronna pointed as they made their landing. Well, it was easy to tell since the individual was the only one they saw around the vast place. “Ancho
Ethan raised a brow. He remarked, “Rebelling is a very strong word there, Mr. Time Keeper.”The lizardman gave a huge snort. As he looked at the both of them with resentment, he remarked, “Do you think you are the only delivery guy out there? I can always order to someone else!”Ethan shrugged his shoulders before he replied casually, “Sure, but how long would others take if they were in a different quadrant ey? Of course, time is precious for all Time Keeper, right?”Just as Ethan said that the lizardman stiffened. He then glared at Ethan and said with unmasked annoyance, “Do you job like I do mine! You cannot save people from this site! Their new memories could not be erased!”He then asked coldly, “What if you save him, one of them destroys an entire galaxy or a universe ... will you be responsible for that?”She glared at him, but her words made sense when Ethan suddenly asked, “
Chronna went from one place to another with incredible speed, and she saw how people desperate for a fate that awaited them lost their minds. Many tried to rob stores while others sang and danced in the streets; the frenzy reigned in that town when suddenly she looked at the first home with a baby.Without stopping, the woman accelerated until she could no longer, and when she reached the door, knocked on her.Chronna hit the door with force, as there was not much time to lose. But nobody responded.Angrily she took something away and with force went through the window of that place.Upon entering, she watched as a woman in her sixties watched a television turned off with frenzy. She did not take her eyes off the black screen while in the backroom. He was a crying baby.Chronna stood in front of her and hurriedly said, “I’ll take your baby, is that clear?”But the lady did not react. She was completely absorbe
When Chronna heard the man, she immediately thought that both she and Ethan might say goodbye to their job because they would both share the fate of the ending planet.Thankfully, they did not stay long in the same room as her. When they left, Chronna looked in all directions, her head was spinning, and as she approached the baby that the woman had given her, it was still asleep. In the room, another baby was resting. It had a respirator, which Chronna assumed was to protect it from the gas. That got her thinking because only one of the babies had a breath. It did not take her too long to come to the conclusion that he did not belong to them. They only used it to attract her and Ethan, this was very strange, but she did not have time to think about the reasons. He had five minutes to escape from that place and not much longer before the planet exploded, looking in gifted directions. He used the sliders to move at full speed towards the door
The baby tapped at Ethan to get his attention. He then hit Ethan’s mouth and pointed towards the exit.“Yes, bud. Hold on tight,” he muttered. Ethan could worry about the strangeness of the baby later. They need to survive first.Ethan ran at full speed. He jumped out the window of the stairs and tried to get away quickly, but at that very moment, the tower crashed into the house, smashing it to pieces.Thousands of fragments flew in all directions, especially towards Ethan. He tried to evade them with speed protecting the baby. But one of the fragments hit Ethan’s wrist, and he fell to the ground.Ethan caught the baby before it hit. The debris that had hit Ethan’s wrist had damaged his stabilizer. The water that fell from the tank dragged the young man who was protecting the baby to a wall to hit him hard before leaving him on the ground, delicately. When Ethan regained his composure, he looked at the b
As time progressed, he was running out, and with only one minute left, he reached the house where he was the baby.In a minute, the world would end, and he had taken a long four minutes to get there.Ethan took the baby in his arms and calmly thought he could not skate so fast in his current state, but skating was useful to be able to enter the house and remove them quickly. However, this time he only had to get to the ship. He did not have to skate or maneuver. The only important thing was speed. With that in mind, he took in his backpack and looked for the right vehicle.“The best vehicle to deliver pizza, yes, sir!” He gleefully remarked when he saw it.At that moment, he activated his object, and a flying scooter appeared. He smilingly got on it and saw how his pursuers cut the distance.“You guys are still a long way off!” Ethan remarked with a grin. With full speed, the scooter shot out, and it fle
He nodded quickly. Ethan replied, “I know. But it’s still difficult to save them, don’t you think? Do you remember what the lizardman said?”She shook that idea off with her hand. Chronna really downplayed it earlier.“That is great nonsense! The universe is huge! And there are many universes. Why can’t we just give it another planet?” Chronna asked as she walked.Ethan looked at her with a frown. He was thinking deeply for a moment before he shook his head and remarked, “That is not right. It would completely damage the balance...”“Do you really believe that, or is it the garbage they have put in your mind? Do you think they can really control or limit the dimensions, Ethan?” Chronna questioned with unmasked confusion.Ethan stared at her. In fact, he really did not know if that was possible. Could he downplay, too as well?It was clear that it was bothering the heck of both
Nevertheless, they needed to know what was inside his room. The truth was that something strange might be inside the room. What if it’s a prank from Irregular-25?If that was really the case, Chronna would be really pissed off.Ethan entered, followed by Chronna. When he saw her follow immediately and closely at him, Ethan felt exasperated. She never did what she said to him.Chronna always had the tendency to move on her own, and for those reasons, she sometimes got into trouble.Upon entering, the whole small apartment was in pieces, the clothes on the floor like most of the objects on the table.Ethan Chronna saw a small book on the floor and took it, but at that moment, a figure with a hood and a skull mask appeared in front of them.Chronna was surprised, but Ethan facing the stranger, asked, “What are you doing here?”The masked man looked at Ethan, and in his hand, Ethan’s spare dimensional
