Chapter seventeen

Kain POV.

Sally and I stood at the gate that led to the public cemetery. I held her hands, and we paddled into the silence. All we could hear were birds chirping, and one of the sounds stood out from the rest. It made Sally hold onto me firmly, and squeeze my hands. It was the hooting of owls.

"What do you want with these bodies, are you kids not gonna let them dead people rest?" We turned unanimously and met with the gatekeeper. "What are you doing here with your chick?" He strolled towards us. I shared a glance with Sally.

"Good evening, sir." I smiled nervously.

"What you want?" He ignored me.

"My name is Kain, and I'm here because I want to meet with my sister."

The gatekeeper was standing hands akimbo, he stared at me through the medicated glasses that hung on his nose. Under his eyes. His bulging stomach and short stout nature made him look funny. He was well above sixty, I guessed from the grey hair that adorned his partly bald head. He was putting on sparkling white short
