Lena intended to make the whole thing more interesting. She signaled the other classmates who were having dinner to come join their table.

They all gladly did as they had been looking at the amount of food left on their table. They were intent on eating their fill because Melvin, as they thought, was capable of footing the bill.

Melvin smiled uncomfortably as they all came to join the table. If he could make all of them disappear at that instant, he would have done so immediately.

"Are you not going to eat?" Lena asked him as he watched the other students gobble down the platter before them.

"I ate before coming for dinner. I am full already," he lied with a feigned smile. His appetite had disappeared the moment he saw the amount of food that he ordered. All that was on his mind at the moment was what the bill would look like.
