004 - Incomplete Task

Caspian groaned and stood up from the ground. His legs hurt him badly and he was unable to stand properly on both feet as he continued what he was doing, ignoring Clayton's words.

Mrs. Hartford got enraged at Caspian's attitude. Walking up to him as fast as her heels could carry her, she pulled his shirt from behind and landed him a slap on the face.

“How much more shameless Could you be?” She yelled looking furious.

“How dare you ignore your new Boss? Do they not teach you respect from the slump you were brought up in?”:She questioned, slapping him again on his other cheeks.

Caspian felt his eyeballs roll. The hit wasn't something he had anticipated.

“Mrs. Hartford if only you could stop being mean for a moment. I'm not feeling well today, I'm quiet just to save myself some energy”

Caspian deadpanned. He made to move away from the stunned head chef. However, she grapes his shirt and glares furiously at him.

“Do you mean replying to us is exhausting your strength?

How dare a lowlife beggar like you complain at how we treat you instead of being grateful?:And you call me mean, the impudence of you.”

Mrs. Hartford screamed, her saliva pouring all over Caspian's face and then she hit him on the head before letting go of his shirt.

Caspian looked to have traveled around the solar system and returned to Earth within two seconds as he tried to stabilize his situation.

However, the dizziness only got worse. His fist clasped tightly as he fell to the ground. Caspian did not want to look pathetic In front of these people.

Nevertheless, he did not know what to do and how to be strong. His body system is malnutrition.

His body wasn't like guys of his age and his pocket wasn't huge to the point of being recognized.

Having gotten nothing to his advantage, Caspian was viewed by many people as a cursed child.

He had spent all of his earnings on sending Sarah to college and the model academy.

But she has paid him back with nothing but betrayal. She backtracked him, stepped on his dignity, and body-shamed him.

He could have used his earnings to develop himself and make a name for himself.

Perhaps if he had done that, his life would never have been a shame. It would never have gotten to this stage.

Seeing Caspian lying on the ground almost unconscious, Mrs. Hartford did not feel any regrets.

Clayton smiled smugly, and Sarah could not be less happy to have gotten rid of him.

Without any sense of remorse, Mrs. Hartford returned to the kitchen. She picked up a jug of water from the fridge and strode to the canteen main hall.

She then removed the jug lid and emptied the content on Caspian. Caspian jolts up in fright.

He looked around, darting his eyes at everyone in confusion. The baffled countenance and his standing position made him seem like a joke.

This hilarious pose got everyone present laughing. The customers who were present chuckled and their kids pointed at him openly and laughed out loud.

Caspian realized what had happened. He looked down, he could feel his eyes welled up with tears.

He stared at his wet clothes that were dripping with water and calmly sniffed back the tears.

“What are you staring at?” Mrs. Hartford mockingly asked.

“Your clothes? Oh, you see, I poured you chill water and you already know how much it cost. It'll be deducted from your salary.

Also the payment for the chair you had broken. And take note, I do not want to ever see you eyeing my niece Sarah.

If you love and value your life, stay away from Sarah. Stay far away.

She's together with a responsible, successful, and handsome person, Clayton; I do not want you jinxing her wonder life. Am I clear?”

She questioned in a loud tone. Caspian gulped. His heart violently shook.

His eyes slowly turned red at the thought of everything he had passed through just to get Sarah to the stage she was.

Caspian felt all of these should just turn up to be a dream but the clear pain all over his body reminded him that none of this would end up a dream.

It is all real, she had left him with nothing. Up until that moment, Caspian hadn't gotten anything from Sarah or asked for anything from her.

He had been loyal to her and had never asked her for sex. Caspian knew how important a model's reputation and clean past should be and so he had kept his distance away from Sarah and only met her in secret.

He had never dreamt that one day, his life would change, and she'd deny having anything to do with him.

He recalled the moment she had said he was the only guy she'd ever love in life.

He recalled the moment she'd said she'd love him until eternity no matter their condition.

He remembered the time she said no man could compare to him in terms of anything and that he was her everything.

She'd said if only she could move mountains, she'd do it to make him happy. She'd said she doesn't care about money or wealth. Only his love.

If only he realized earlier that they were mere words and empty promises. If only he hadn't been so love-struck and naive, his life wouldn't have gotten to this stage.

Caspian nodded without looking up at any of the three monsters in front of him.

“Rest assured Mrs. Hartford, I am not going to look at Miss Sarah Davidson again because I do not worth her.”

Caspian mumbled and Mrs. Hartford happily clapped. Excited with regards to his obedient response.

“Great! It's good you have understood. Now clean up this place as we don't want to waste the precious time of customers.”

Mrs. Hartford ordered and Caspian did not spend any more time dwelling in his misery.

He watched as Mrs. Hartford, with a smiley face, led Clayton and Sarah inside the main building.

He did not know how Sarah was related to her. For all he knew, Sarah was an orphan just like him, and they had both been in the same orphanage.

Caspian began working. With his apron tied around his neck and waist, he spent the entire day, throwing trash and serving orders until the day ran out, completely forgetting about the task he had been assigned.

The next day, Caspian hurried inside the canteen. He is now looking better and more energetic than he was.

He gladly hummed to the music that was playing and then went to take the cleaning tools.

Caspian returned and was surprised to see Clayton in the hall. He wasn't alone; the boy Jason, who they had bullied days back, was also there.

“System notification: Twenty-four hours passed. Mission INCOMPLETE, task FAILED. Fifty percent income LOST.”

The robotic voice sounded in his head.

Caspian is in shock. He then remembered the task he was assigned and broke into a cold sweat.

He received a notification on his phone and checked that, indeed, fifty percent of the income had gone.

His brows raised in awe, and he ran his fingers through his hair, feeling regretful. Suddenly a white panel appeared in front of him.
