Caspian groaned and stood up from the ground. His legs hurt him badly and he was unable to stand properly on both feet as he continued what he was doing, ignoring Clayton's words.
Mrs. Hartford got enraged at Caspian's attitude. Walking up to him as fast as her heels could carry her, she pulled his shirt from behind and landed him a slap on the face. “How much more shameless Could you be?” She yelled looking furious. “How dare you ignore your new Boss? Do they not teach you respect from the slump you were brought up in?”:She questioned, slapping him again on his other cheeks. Caspian felt his eyeballs roll. The hit wasn't something he had anticipated. “Mrs. Hartford if only you could stop being mean for a moment. I'm not feeling well today, I'm quiet just to save myself some energy” Caspian deadpanned. He made to move away from the stunned head chef. However, she grapes his shirt and glares furiously at him. “Do you mean replying to us is exhausting your strength? How dare a lowlife beggar like you complain at how we treat you instead of being grateful?:And you call me mean, the impudence of you.” Mrs. Hartford screamed, her saliva pouring all over Caspian's face and then she hit him on the head before letting go of his shirt. Caspian looked to have traveled around the solar system and returned to Earth within two seconds as he tried to stabilize his situation. However, the dizziness only got worse. His fist clasped tightly as he fell to the ground. Caspian did not want to look pathetic In front of these people. Nevertheless, he did not know what to do and how to be strong. His body system is malnutrition. His body wasn't like guys of his age and his pocket wasn't huge to the point of being recognized. Having gotten nothing to his advantage, Caspian was viewed by many people as a cursed child. He had spent all of his earnings on sending Sarah to college and the model academy. But she has paid him back with nothing but betrayal. She backtracked him, stepped on his dignity, and body-shamed him. He could have used his earnings to develop himself and make a name for himself. Perhaps if he had done that, his life would never have been a shame. It would never have gotten to this stage. Seeing Caspian lying on the ground almost unconscious, Mrs. Hartford did not feel any regrets. Clayton smiled smugly, and Sarah could not be less happy to have gotten rid of him. Without any sense of remorse, Mrs. Hartford returned to the kitchen. She picked up a jug of water from the fridge and strode to the canteen main hall. She then removed the jug lid and emptied the content on Caspian. Caspian jolts up in fright. He looked around, darting his eyes at everyone in confusion. The baffled countenance and his standing position made him seem like a joke. This hilarious pose got everyone present laughing. The customers who were present chuckled and their kids pointed at him openly and laughed out loud. Caspian realized what had happened. He looked down, he could feel his eyes welled up with tears. He stared at his wet clothes that were dripping with water and calmly sniffed back the tears. “What are you staring at?” Mrs. Hartford mockingly asked. “Your clothes? Oh, you see, I poured you chill water and you already know how much it cost. It'll be deducted from your salary. Also the payment for the chair you had broken. And take note, I do not want to ever see you eyeing my niece Sarah. If you love and value your life, stay away from Sarah. Stay far away. She's together with a responsible, successful, and handsome person, Clayton; I do not want you jinxing her wonder life. Am I clear?” She questioned in a loud tone. Caspian gulped. His heart violently shook. His eyes slowly turned red at the thought of everything he had passed through just to get Sarah to the stage she was. Caspian felt all of these should just turn up to be a dream but the clear pain all over his body reminded him that none of this would end up a dream. It is all real, she had left him with nothing. Up until that moment, Caspian hadn't gotten anything from Sarah or asked for anything from her. He had been loyal to her and had never asked her for sex. Caspian knew how important a model's reputation and clean past should be and so he had kept his distance away from Sarah and only met her in secret. He had never dreamt that one day, his life would change, and she'd deny having anything to do with him. He recalled the moment she had said he was the only guy she'd ever love in life. He recalled the moment she'd said she'd love him until eternity no matter their condition. He remembered the time she said no man could compare to him in terms of anything and that he was her everything. She'd said if only she could move mountains, she'd do it to make him happy. She'd said she doesn't care about money or wealth. Only his love. If only he realized earlier that they were mere words and empty promises. If only he hadn't been so love-struck and naive, his life wouldn't have gotten to this stage. Caspian nodded without looking up at any of the three monsters in front of him. “Rest assured Mrs. Hartford, I am not going to look at Miss Sarah Davidson again because I do not worth her.” Caspian mumbled and Mrs. Hartford happily clapped. Excited with regards to his obedient response. “Great! It's good you have understood. Now clean up this place as we don't want to waste the precious time of customers.” Mrs. Hartford ordered and Caspian did not spend any more time dwelling in his misery. He watched as Mrs. Hartford, with a smiley face, led Clayton and Sarah inside the main building. He did not know how Sarah was related to her. For all he knew, Sarah was an orphan just like him, and they had both been in the same orphanage. Caspian began working. With his apron tied around his neck and waist, he spent the entire day, throwing trash and serving orders until the day ran out, completely forgetting about the task he had been assigned. ***** The next day, Caspian hurried inside the canteen. He is now looking better and more energetic than he was. He gladly hummed to the music that was playing and then went to take the cleaning tools. Caspian returned and was surprised to see Clayton in the hall. He wasn't alone; the boy Jason, who they had bullied days back, was also there. “System notification: Twenty-four hours passed. Mission INCOMPLETE, task FAILED. Fifty percent income LOST.” The robotic voice sounded in his head. Caspian is in shock. He then remembered the task he was assigned and broke into a cold sweat. He received a notification on his phone and checked that, indeed, fifty percent of the income had gone. His brows raised in awe, and he ran his fingers through his hair, feeling regretful. Suddenly a white panel appeared in front of him. [Name: Caspian Grey Hastings. I don't get what's wrong with your brain, idiotic moron!” Clayton yelled. He angrily shoved Jason on the chest, and Jason staggered backward, almost Falling on his butt, but he managed to hold onto a table. {System tasking: New Mission; System detects the bully Clayton saying abusive words. Make the bully stop saying abusive words and level up your income. <Caspian turns and stares at Clayton. He did not think he was confident enough to make him stop saying abusive words. However, he could provoke him and then punch his face and bust his lips. That way, he won't be able to say abusive words. Caspian wasn't ready to lose this money coming his way.In his mind, he had already begun calculating the total amount of money that would be added to his account and how he was going to spend all of it.Caspian, as if he did not see Clayton bullying Jason, went and began cleaning up the canteen hall. From his side, he keeps his focus on Clayton to make sure he doesn't leave, as the System had only given him twelve hours to complete this new task.Diligently and carefully, Caspian cleans up the inner part of the hall until he gets to the door where Clayton is still standing and Berating Jason.Caspian drops the brush he is using to sweep, wipes his hands on his apron, and then raises his head to gaze at Clayton.Clayton scowled with knitted brows upo
Isaacson turned to Clayton with his brows raised in question, and he asked, “Son, does this have anything to do with this dumb brain?” Clayton did not for once hesitate to say what he had in mind. He hated his terrible state and couldn't wait to punish Caspian for what he had done. “No, Mr. Hartford, he did not. I unexpectedly fell down the stairs in the corridor. That got me these bruises. But it's fine; it won't take time before it'll heal,” Clayton replied. Isaacson nodded, and he sighed. “I'm truly sorry you have to encounter that at your canteen; I'll make sure the stairs are renovated. Rest assured, it won't happen again.” Isaacson said, and Clayton could only nod as he glowered with a grimace at Caspian. Caspian jubilated in his heart. His excitement could not even be hidden behind his expressionless face. “I feel sorry for him.” Caspian muttered; he continued to clean up the place and did not mind their emotional bantering. Finishing up his assigned cleaning duties, C
Striding out of the food storage room, Caspian unexpectedly bumped into Jason, whom he sees standing by the door.It was evident that Jason had been eavesdropping on their conversation. Jason stared at Caspian with a slightly complicated emotion. He then embraced him in a tight hug, which Caspian did not see coming. Jason pulled away, and he grinned sheepishly at Caspian.“You were so brave in there,”He commended Caspian, and Caspian chuckled and scratched his head.“Someone needs to remind him that not everything will remain the same forever. I'm glad you were able to. I just pray he listens and changes.”Jason continued to speak, and Caspian smiled. His eyes lingered on the young guy in front of him.Jason is 1.8 meters tall, slightly taller than him. His masculine, firm cheekbones down to his shaped jaws are straight and firm. His eyes were a pair of bottle greens, and his nose was sharp and straight. His lips were pinkish and slightly plump. This handsome dude has a straight figu
Manager Bello led Caspian to a private room, where he began to explain the situation. “Mr. Grey Hastings, it seems that a large sum of money has been deposited into your account from an untraceable source. Our system automatically froze the account pending further investigation.”Caspian nodded, intrigued. “I see. And what does this mean for me?”Manager Bello smiled. “Well, Mr. Grey Hastings, it means that you now have a substantial amount of wealth at your disposal. We'll need to discuss investment options and…”Caspian interrupted, a sly grin spreading across his face. “I think I'll manage, thank you. Just unfreeze the account and give me access.”Manager Bello raised an eyebrow but nodded. “Very well, Mr. Grey Hastings. But please, be cautious. Your new financial status may attract unwanted attention.”Caspian chuckled, a cold glint in his eye. “I can handle myself, Manager Bello. Don't worry about me.”With that, the account was unfrozen, and Caspian left the bank with a spring i
He looked behind him at the path Isaacson Hartford had gone through, and his eyes widened in disbelief.Everything was clear, like broad daylight. How could such a disgusting event take place in such a prestigious place? Obviously, Isaacson thought he could easily get away with it.Caspian, unable to look further, reached for his shirt. He took it off, leaving himself with his white undershirt, and gave the shirt to the lady.Scrutinizing Caspian, who wasn't looking her way but was stretching out his shirt to her, Susan Lee cowered back in fear. She did not move forward to accept his clothing.Susan peeked at her clothes, which were torn into almost shreds; her eyes immediately welled up with tears again as she began to sob.Caspian sighed; he didn't know what to do at this point and felt it would be best if Susan put on his clothes to cover her exposed body. But seeing that she was not accepting the shirt, he turned and stared at her with a gentle smile.“Have this to cover yourself
Caspian clasped his palms together, and his eyes blazed with vengeance. He couldn't wait to complete this mission and expose Isaacson, while at the same time leveling up and earning more income.Caspian turned and stared at Susan. He walked up to her and pulled her from her shoulder. Staring deep into her gray orbs, Caspian asked:“Do you want to get justice for yourself? I can help you out.”Susan quivered immediately. She sat back on the rock and cowered, tears streaming as she looked at the ground while shaking her head.“No… no! I'm not interested in doing that; I'm going to fail if I do, and no one will believe me if I say anything bad against Mr. Isaacson.”She mumbled. Caspian strode to her, bent to her sitting height, and placed his hands against the tree.“It's okay; do not cry anymore.”He said this to her and wiped her tears away. Caspian couldn't hide how sympathetic he felt towards her situation.“Look here, Miss. I know you don't want to do this, and I know you are silly
Laughing, Isaacson Hartford hung up the call, and Susan was gritting her teeth at his shamelessness.‘What does it mean by what we've started?’ She thought in annoyance.Susan stared at her phone. She moved her gaze to Caspian, and he nodded.Caspian inserted his hands in his pants pocket, brought out a small device that couldn't be easily detected, and handed it to her.“Attach this to your bag and click the red button once he arrives at the venue. Don't worry, I've got everything planned out.”Caspian again reassured. Susan took a deep breath and decided she'd trust him.Besides, she had no other choice but to do so, as she had accepted his offer to end the frivolous, lackadaisical man.“Alright, I'll contact the number you gave me when I get there. Please do well to come in fast; I don't want to get into a scandal.”Susan reminded him, and Caspian smiled without saying a word.A smile that explains everything without the need to path his lips.A smile that could calm the brewing st

How about an upgrade? Caspian thought. He paused and stared at his reflection in the window of a car that was parked along the roadside. He looked down at his phone and felt more certain about how necessary an upgrade was required.“Hey, are you going somewhere?” a cab driver asked, his head poking out through his wind-down car window.“Yes, the central mall. If that isn't too far,” Caspian responded.“It's all about the money, boy. Hop in if you've got ten pounds.”“Man, that's a lot of charges for that distance. Cut it down…” Although he now had money, it didn't mean he should spend
