Elvis and Ms. Precious go back to the office where he is taken round the company by Ms. Precious who shows him everywhere.
"And this is your office," she said as she opened the last office, revealing an extravagant room.Elvis looked around in surprise, this was the biggest office he had seen since he was shown around."It used to be your father's, Mr. Ford's office. But now that you have become the new President, it now belongs to you," she explained. He walked over to the President's seat and sat on it, he slowly felt the softness of the chair. He sighed weakly, then closed his eyes."And what may I address you as?" He suddenly asked.Ms. Precious smiled, then replied, "Ms. Precious, your secretary and guardian as instructed by your father,"Elvis nodded in satisfaction. He slowly opened his eyes and sat straight."Send the company's documents to me," He said, dismissing her with a wave of his hand. Without a word she left the office.Elvis sat up from the chair, he went over to the window and thought about all the difficulties he had gone through. There was a sad depression on his face as he thought of the illness of his parents. A knock was hard on the door and Ms. Precious came in holding a pile of documents in our hand."Sir I am here with the documents of the company" she said as she approached the desk. She stood opposite him, waiting for him to talk." Keep the documents on the table" he ordered."Who has been taking care of the company since my father's absence?" He suddenly asked, with his back facing her."I am," She replied with a slight bow."Mn." He turned to face her. "I want you to take over as the president while I deal with some personal things," He said in an authoritative tone."But I was strictly instructed by Mr. Ford to guard you into-""Who is the current president of this company?" Elvis asked in a cold tone. Ms. Precious lowered her head in embarrassment."You are sir," She replied fearfully."Then do as you are told without objection," He commanded and she fearfully nodded for fear of being punished."Good." He said while Ms. Precious gulped in fear of Mr. Ford's reaction and sanction from Elvis if she failed to obey him. While Elvis flipped through the documents she had placed on the table, she began to fiddle with her fingers as she thought of what to do.On Elvis' part, he was trying to skim through the documents to get an idea of what it entails but his mind wouldn't stop wandering. The thought of his ailing parents was weighing down and at the same time, it gave him more reasons on why he should put work aside and focus on helping his parents."Get me a cup of coffee." He said, startling Ms. Precious who was sweating even under the air conditioned room."Give me a few minutes, I will be back." She replied and after a curt bow, she stepped out of the office.Left alone in the office, he rose then began to scroll through his phone. The previous night, he had done some research about the diseases."I think I should focus on mom first. Thanks to radioactivity the cancerous cells can be destroyed immediately." He mumbled, scratching the side of his face with the tip of his fingers."Finding a cure for dad is going to be extremely difficult. I can't even pronounce the name…" he filtered off when the door flung open and Ms. Precious walked in with the coffee in her hand."Americano coffee, this is the only one available at the moment." She said, placing it on his hand."At least it's still coffee." He said, bringing the cup to his mouth."But the tastes differ.""Uhm…" For the next few minutes, the duo remained in the office, not saying a word to each other. It was the ticking of the clock and the soft noise that was emitting from the speaker that were the only sound in the office.I need to do something before it becomes too late. Instead of obeying Elvis, I will obey Mr. Ford — Ms. Precious said to herself.Immediately she raised her head, her eyes met with that of Elvis who was swirling the rest of the liquid in the container with his gaze fixed on her."Why don't we come to an agreement?" He said."What kind of agreement?" She asked with a raised brow, bracing herself for what was going to happen next."Whenever my pay comes in, I will pay you seventy percent. What do you think?""Sir…""I shouldn't be asking for your suggestion here. As the president, I delegate the managerial duties to you and at the end of the month, you will receive seventy percent of my salary. I hope that's enough to make you keep your mouth shut." He snapped."Okay sir." Shs replied, head bowed as she bit the corner of her lips in anger. She felt like she was betraying Mr. Ford who had been so good to her."I'll be on my way now. Don't hesitate to call me if any issues beyond your capacity arise." He said. Grabbing the documents on the table, he waved them before her, "I will mail them in the next hour, I need to digest the content.""Okay sir." She replied, head still bent.Several minutes later, after Elvis left the office, Ms. Previous quickly reached out for her phone and then with shaking hands dialed Mr. Ford's contact. It didn't take long before the lines connected."Good day sir." She greeted, her eyes fixed on the seat Elvis was occupying moments ago."I hope everything went well." Mr. Ford asked on the other side. Just as she was about to give her report, the door flung open and Elvis walked in.All the while, he had been standing behind the door with his ear placed on it. His instincts kept telling him Ms. Precious was going to inform his father so he decided to stay back.Smirking, he walked up to her, urging her to continue with the conversation. Scared, she couldn't speak as she began to swear again."Are you there? Did he give you any issues? I hope he doesn't decline, talk to me." Mr. Ford said hurriedly. He had been waiting for her call all day and now that she managed to call, she was keeping him in suspense."Yes sir. Everything is going well as planned. He agreed to take over the company." She said with a merry tone."Thank you so much. I'm indebted to you.""Not at all sir. Please take good care of yourself." She replied and with her heart in her mouth, she hung the call."Have you heard this saying that instincts never lies?" Elvis asked, a smirk on his face as he towered over her."I'm sorry." She managed to say, gripping her phone tightly with a hand and using the other to grip her skirt in fright."Since you spoke so well of me, I accept your apology but the next time you try this, I won't." He said and with that, he left the office.Still swaying the documents in his hands, he made his way to the elevator and soon he was on the ground floor. He had barely taken a step out of the elevator when his wandering eyes settled on Silas Deane, a classmate from high school. With a scoff, he continued his movement as he tried to shake off the ill Silas and his gang had done to him while still at school. He tried all means to avoid him but to his disdain, Silas walked up to him."It's been a while, Elvis." He said, adjusting his suit."What are you doing here?" Elvis scowled, darting his eyes around."I should be the one asking you that. In between, you've changed. Who knows that once looking…""That's enough, just pretend as if you don't know me and I will do that also.""Why?" Silas asked with a chuckle. He tried to hit him but he grabbed his hand then pushed him aside."Stay away from me." He snapped.Silas tried to repeat his move, it was then he saw the documents he was holding and with a widened eyes he asked, "Why are you holding that?"For the next few minutes, Silas and Elvis were struggling on who was going to retain the documents. Thinking it was the same Elvis from high school he molested each day, Silas didn't giun until Elvis pushed him aside then he fell on the floor with a thud. Smirking, he rose, dusting his butt with his gaze fixed on him. "I didn't mean to push you that hard. You would have just stopped when I asked you to." Elvis scowled. People were loitering about but no one gave them any attention. "Get into the elevator." Silas snapped. "Why? I'm already on my way out." He replied, trying to brush past him but Silas grabbed his arm then pulled him into the elevator. Still wearing his evil smirk, he grabbed Elvis by the cuff of his shirt. Gritting his teeth in anger, he yelled, "What has come over you?" "I already told you. I'm sorry, okay. I didn't mean to hurt you." He mumbled, gasping for breath. Instead of letting him go, Silas tightened his grip on the cuff watching Elvis eyes water as he
When Ms. Precious returned to the office, she was surprised to still see Elvis seated with his legs across the other. "You said you wouldn't be here when I return." She said, flopping on her seat. "I changed my mind. Do you have a problem with that?" He asked, raising his brow at her. "Not at all." She replied, chuckling softly. After a brief silence, she cleared her throat to get his attention and when she did, she pushed her hair behind her ears. "Aren't you going to tell me what happened? Your neck is still reddened. Who tried to kill you?" She asked, her face masked with worry. As if that was not enough, she left her seat then went to his side, "Tell me, it's time we involve the police because the next time the perpetrator will kill you." She said, "I don't think so." He said, chuckling as the discomfort Silas would probably be facing at the moment. "It's not funny. Please tell me what happened so in case your father asks I will have an answer to give him." She said, towerin
Sarah flipped her hair to a side with a broad smile on her face. She knew Elvis had seen her and so she wanted him to be aware she had seen him too. "Mister, your direction." The cab man said, breaking the uncomfortable silence in the car. "Is she your passenger too?" He asked, nodding at Sarah. "Of course I am. Am I posing a threat to you?" She asked with a light chuckle."I'm sorry, I will pass." Elvis said hurriedly and even before the cab man could say a word, he had stuttered out of the car. Clenching his fists, he began to walk down the road with a scowl on his face. The least person he wanted to see was Sarah but there she was — smiling back at him. "I should have looked properly before boarding." He snapped, fist pumping the air. "Hey, be careful. Do you want to hit me?" Sarah asked, jolting Elvis in the process and making him stop on his track. Frowning, he swirled in her direction, "Why?" He asked with a large scowl. "What are you talking about?" "You ought to be in
Elvis sighed in frustration as the shop owner raked him from his head to his feet. He knew exactly what the shop owner was thinking and the more time he spent looking back at him, the more he became angry. "Please leave, I don't haggle prices here." The shop owner finally said. "What are you talking about?" Elvis asked, pretending to be unaware of what he was driving at. "Since you are dumb, I will explain to you just once." He paused then continued. "In this shop, all clothings and accessories are of fixed prices. We don't haggle prices for whatever reasons." The man replied. "I wasn't trying to haggle prices with you.""Then…" "I want you to package everything I have selected and then I will pay for each item." He explained. Throwing his head backwards, the shop owner burst into an annoying laughter causing a lone tear to escape from Elvis eyes. When the customers enquired on why the shop owner was laughing, he was quick to tell them and they began to make jest of him. "Ever
Smirking, Elvis dug his hand into his hair then began to tug on it. Dustin's company was the least of his choices for emerging winner but it turns out he won, beating other competitors by a large margin. "Sir… are you still there?" Ms. precious asked, she had suspended her activity, awaiting response from his end but he wasn't replying. "Yeah." He muttered, biting the corner of his lips as he racked his brain on what to do. "When should I announce the result of the nomination? You are the president and whatever you ask me to do, I will." She added. Ms. Precious added her last sentence, thinking he was finding it hard to come up with a decision because of his father. "Mr. Ford wouldn't know about this." She said, seconds later when he still didn't say anything. Elvis couldn't help but let out a soft chuckle since he found her words amusing. "You know what… just suspend the announcement until a week later. I need to take some things into consideration." He said, still chuckling. "
Elvis repeated his request several times but the cops won't hear him out. They kept pushing him into the interrogation room despite his protest. When they finally succeeded, he lowered himself on a chair and Detective Artemis walked in, flinging a brown envelope in his hand. "Did you tell him his charges?" He asked the cop who had clasped his wrists with a cuff earlier. "I did." He replied. "But I didn't hear. I even asked him to repeat his words but he wouldn't budge. Bet me, when I get out of here, I'm going to make sure you all spend a week behind bars." He threatened. The cops around including Detective Artemis burst into a mocking laughter while Elvis looked at them with an embarrassed look. He knew exactly what they were thinking. "Really? You can't even afford a good meal not to talk about clothings but here you are claiming you are going to put us behind bars… I will call that vivid imagination." Detective Artemis said, erupting in another bout of laughter. "Fine. I wan
When the male guard wouldn't stop glaring at Elvis and Elvis kept smiling, the female guard cleared her throat, only then did the both of them stop. "Have you been to a prison before?" The male guard asked, a few seconds later. "No, why did you ask?" Elvis asked, his gaze fixed on the guard's face. "Because you are acting as if you are going to paradise. Just in case you don't know, you are more or less a domestic animal whenever you are in prison. You don't have freedom of speech, your movement is restricted and a whole lot of things. You think it's funny, huh?" The guard rapped and at the end of his mini speech, he was heaving as if he had just completed a heavy chore. "I know." Elvis replied with a calm tone. "Then why are you smiling? I will advise you to brace yourself for the ills in the prison yard and at the same time, pray the good lord sends you a helper.""Thanks for your advice, I will put that in mind." He replied and the guard waved him off. When the male guard's
A contented smile spread on his Elvis's face as he listened to the frustrated voice of Dustin, he was not done with him yet. Soon, the call was disconnected. "What is our next step sir?"Ms. Precious asked. "I will tell you that later," He replied with a narrow gaze, "Lets leave here," He got into the car and Ms. Precious did likewise, then they drove off. They stopped at a boutique where Elvis was to change his clothes before visiting his parents as planned. Elvis got down from the car without Ms. Precious who was in a call. He then approached the boutique, but was stopped by the security man outside the boutique. "Excuse me sir," Elvis stopped and turned to the man. "Beggars are not allowed inside here," he said in a hoarse voice. Elvis raised a brow, "Did I say I was coming to beg? Or do I look like a beggar." "Apparently, you do" Elvis couldn't dictate if he was being mocked, so he moved a bit closer to the man."I'm not a beggar," Elvis said and gave him a cold stare, but t
