CHAPTER 49

The boardroom buzzed with a low hum of anxious chatter as the assembled business people took their seats around the long, polished table. Stacey sat at the head, her laptop open in front of her, ready to present the opportunity to her colleagues.

“Thank you all for coming on such short notice,” Stacey began, her tone professional but laced with tension. “Today, we discuss a monumental opportunity with Bulgart Industries.”

The murmurs faded as she continued, “To secure this project, we need to invest two billion dollars upfront.”

Gasps erupted around the room, and the tension thickened like fog.

One of the board members, a distinguished man with graying hair, shook his head in disbelief. “Two billion? That’s absurd! Our company is only worth six hundred million!”
