CHAPTER 51

The next morning, Racheal sat in her office, head in her hands, completely drained. She had exhausted every possible avenue for the loan, and yet no good news. They had one day left. If they didn’t secure the money, the contract—and everything her family had worked for—would slip through their fingers.

She exhaled deeply, and a thought surfaced. Adam.

Her pride fought against it, but desperation crushed it. What did she have to lose? Absolutely nothing. With trembling fingers, she grabbed her phone and dialed his number.

Adam answered almost instantly, and she could hear the amusement in his voice. "I knew you’d call."

“Are you really going to help me?” she asked, biting her lip, despising herself for even having this conversation.

Adam’s grin was practically audible through the phone. “Meet me at my lounge.”

She ended the call, grabbed her keys, and stormed to her car. As she drove toward his penthouse, anger brewed in her chest. The mere thought of needing him made her skin crawl.
