Chapter One Hundred & Forty-Five

Melanie finally arrived at her family's house for the dinner and was welcomed by the presence of both Clara and her parents.

“You made it!” Mr. Alcantara said.

He was happy she accepted the invitation and immediately gave her a welcoming peck.

“Hey, girl." Clara waved happily.

Melanie hugged her and they both found their way to the dining room.

“Where is Jamal?” Clara asked, looking around.

“He's busy with work so he couldn't make it,” Melanie said.

She felt sad but had to be a considerate wife.

“I asked Dennis too but that man wouldn't budge either.” Clara agreed.

She wondered why Dennis and Jamal had the same cold demeanor and were difficult to convince.

It almost seemed like they were born of the same mother.

In less than five minutes, everyone was seated except for Mrs. Alcantara. Immediately the doors opened and servants flooded in with varieties of food alongside Mrs Alcantara.
