Chapter One Hundred & Forty-Six

Madam Felicia, her co-wife, and the rest of Jamal's step-family made grand preparations to welcome their 'jackpot’. Martins informed them earlier of his arrival with Clara, so everyone was on their best behavior.

Immediately they heard the sound of a vehicle entering the compound, they feigned busy.

“You're back,” Madam Felicia said happily.

She went over to where her son stood and hugged him.

She was all caring because he brought a lady with resources.

“Yes mother,” Martins said, surprised.

His mother's warmth was unexpected and that was thanks to the lady he brought.

“And who do we have here?” Madam Felicia asked.

She didn't want it to look like she was told beforehand and asked for a proper introduction.

“I am Clara Aldrich, and I brought this for you” Clara introduced.

She handed her a fine bottle of red wine as a peace offering.

She saw through them and their fake smiles and decided to play along.

“Oh my, how thoughtful of you, please do come in” Madam Felicia announced cheerily.
