Chapter One Hundred & Fourteen

"Clara-" Dennis tried to get her attention as Clara was constantly dazing off in their conversation.

Clara sat across from Dennis in a classic restaurant. Her brows furrowed with worry. The atmosphere of the place did little to ease her troubled mind.

She had been hoping for a quiet evening with Dennis, but there was something else weighing heavily on her heart.

"Clara, I already apologized, didn't I?" Dennis grabbed her hands on the table. "I have been so busy recently that I neglected you," Dennis said calmly.

Clara slowly pulled her hands from him.

"Dennis." Clara began, her voice tinged with concern.

"It's not just about you being busy with work. My uncle wants me to leave New York." Clara spilled sadly.

Dennis' face fell, and a wave of sadness washed over him. Dennis had been dreading this moment, the situation whereby he would have to discuss the bleak future of their relationship. This was one of the reasons he never wanted to try it with her but he didn't want to hurt her aft
