Chapter One Hundred & Ninty-Five

Mrs. Alcantara felt alone as her husband and Melanie left the room. She played with her fingers in curiosity and anxiety.

What are they talking about? Was Melanie upset? Is she disappointed that her father didn't leave? Mrs. Alcantara was entangled in her web of thoughts and there was no way of getting answers because she knew her husband would not say anything about his conversation with Melanie.

Mrs. Alcantara didn't know how Melanie would feel about the reunion, she just hoped it was good.

Just as she was about to stand up from the bed, Mr. Alcantara entered the room with a smile on his face.

“Going somewhere?” Mr. Alcantara asked.

He didn't want to show his sadness so he wore a smile to seem fine.

“Where is Melanie?” Mrs. Alcantara inquired.

She was hoping to speak to her at least.

“She just left, she said she had a lot to do and just decided to check on us,” Mr. Alcantara answered.

He acted neutral so she didn't feel unwanted.

“Oh,” Mrs. Alcantara simply replied.
