Chapter 11

“I’m not…”He didn’t know the right word to use because it was obvious that he was leaving.

“Do I look like a fool to you?” The man grunted.

“Thank goodness I prepared…” the man hadn’t finished his statement when Maximus snapped him out.

“What!” The eye screen suddenly became visible.

[CONGRATULATIONS, User has accomplished the mission!] The robotic voice came up.

[+30% Cyber Knowledge Added! = +20% self-esteem Added! = +35% Popularity Added! = $100 million Added!]As the robotic voice spoke, the items dangled in his eyes with short illustrations.

Surprisingly, he felt renewed.

A small smile curled on his lips.

“Are you insane, you are on the verge of being beaten up and you are smiling?” The man signaled the area thugs as they charged over to him.

Soon, his phone beeped.

He was reluctant to check and also didn’t want to get his hopes so high.

“[Credit Alert: $1,000,000 Sender: TYS]” He reads.

“What!!” He screamed like a bulldog who had gone insane. His eyes widened in shock with his hand closed his mouth as he continually checked the message.

He couldn't believe his eyes and at this stage, he thought he was flying. he had skyrocketed to another level.

“This isn't a dream, is it?”He questioned aloud, turning to the man who stared at him in confusion.

“What dream? Did something happen? Everyone is staring at us, stop making a scene!” He queried in dissatisfaction.

“H… how much is it?” He raised an anxious brow.

“Don’t try to go back on your word. You promised to pay me $1,500 and that’s your bill.” The man said with certainty and he smirked.

He had just gotten $100 million in his account. At this point, $1,500 sounded like a penny to him.

He placed a hand on the man’s shoulder, the man looked shocked.

“Take your…” The man trailed off as Maximus placed a finger on his lips.

How brazen.

“For wasting your time, I will make it $5,000,” He said with a short reassuring smile.

“Don’t joke with me.” The man’s eyes glinted, looking anxious to get a hold of such an amount.

He hadn't made much from his cafe in a day.

Ordinarily, he charges $10 to $15 for those who want to use his space but because of how impatient Maximus was, that was why he charged him higher than others.

But surprisingly, fate was playing a steamy game with him by blessing him with a life-saver client.

“Call your account details.” He brought out his phone and logged into his bank application.

“XXXX1320,” The man called out impatiently.

“Thanks for trusting me even though you didn’t last.” He smirked.

Immediately, the man’s phone beeped and his stare became intense on Maximus.

“This isn’t a joke?” The man muttered to himself, giving the thugs a cold look before taking out his phone.

“Jeez! Thank you so much, boss!” The man lost control of himself and knelt on the floor, almost bowing to him.

“That’s not necessary.” He waved his hand in the air and walked down the street.

“Please come again, sir!!” The man’s desperate voice could be heard in the entire street. He laughed.

Humans.

“You freaking bastards should stop joking with me!” Mr. Wayles hit his hand on the desk, as his eyes lingered on each of his board member’s faces.

“We are losing money, deals, and investment. We have to do something.” Mr. Wayles cried out in anxiety.

“Our cybersecurity staff had given up because the hackers were better than them. The Japanese skilled cyber criminals I hired also gave up, they couldn’t even get through the first lock.” Kaiden groaned as he explained.

“Does this mean there is no skilled cyber security personnel to save us at this time?” One of the board members questioned anxiously.

“You all have to do something! Just last night, we lost $150 million and it’s not a joke! I have also been sanctioned by our leading investors and shareholders. We can't afford any further loss!” Mr. Wayles threatened them in anger.

“I… I will try to reach out to the Chinese computer guru, maybe they will have an idea about it.” Kaiden rubbed his chin.

“Since it happened in NY, that means we have a good potential in our country. don’t you think it’s good to employ that person in our company?” Another board member asked, curling his lips.

“Besides, Kaiden traveled abroad to develop his skills. How come he can’t do anything when we are in need?” A female board member stared at him, rubbing her chin.

“Actually, I…” Kaiden couldn’t finish his statement when his father’s voice came up.

“Stop assuming and find a solution. Search both inside and outside the state and make sure this issue is resolved before the end of this week.” Mr. Wayles attempted to leave but stopped at the door.

“No, this week is too far. This should be resolved in two days!” With that, he left the board meeting room and Kaiden crashed on his seat, exhaling heavily.

[BREAKING NEWS: Mr. Wayles Enterprise has been hacked and going through rough times, according to last night's stock, they lost over $150 million. The Wayles Enterprise is in search of Top…]

As the public televisions read the news, causing people to gasp and wonder what was happening in the city; he dangled his keys, taking a long look at the duplex he had just bought.

The property wasn’t “so” extravagant but it was worth it for someone like him.

“This is just the beginning.” He mumbled to himself as he unlocked the door with the pass card, and another lock with the keys before accessing the main hallway.

“Wonderful.” He nodded, the house was just as the agent had told him.

He was super happy that the system had changed his once miserable life to one that he now had a choice to live and the right to reject whatever he didn’t want.

“I’m famished.” He strolled to the kitchen and opened the tall, black fridge, his eyes dazzled at the countless drinks and preserved food stocked in the fridge.

“This is a dream come true.” He gasped.

One month ago, he was crying for food. He was begging to squat with his ex-best friend. But, look at the route his life took.

He was still in a daze when his phone rang and disrupted his train of thought.

He looked at the caller ID and grunted.

FATHER.

“I know they will call.” He mumbled to himself before taking the call.

“Hello?” His eyes fluttered.

“Maximus, we have been searching every public house, everywhere for you. Where are you?”

Public house?

It turned out that it was Kaiden, using his father’s phone to connect with him.

He rolled his eyes, trying to ignore Kaiden’s annoying statement.

“What do you want?” He questioned.

“I know you are not very skilled at computer or cyber things but at this rate, we are trying to use every means possible to recover.” Kaiden began.

“Can you help us? I guess you heard what happened to our company.” Kaiden said.

“Our?” He smirked. Now there was trouble, the company had changed from “his” to “our”.

“I can help you.”He exhaled deeply.

“Very good. Come to the company immediately..” Kaiden commanded and he laughed.

“Not so easy, Kaiden.” He said.

“What do you mean?” Kaiden asked over the phone.

“I can help your company recover all that has been lost and stay protected for a long time. But, I have one request.” He said boldly.

Where was it coming from? If someone told him he could speak to his brother with no fear, he wouldn't believe it.

“Do you think you have a choice here? Do you think you have a right to give us silly conditions?” He could feel Kaiden’s annoyance through the phone.

“Are you in or out? Besides, this is not my loss.” He curled his lips as a thick silence took over the atmosphere.
