Chapter 10

“What should I do?” He sighed heavily when he saw the amount in his account, it wasn’t up to a hundred dollars.

He wondered how he could complete the system’s task, this was his last chance and the least he wanted was failure.

“If I don’t have a house or laptop doesn’t mean I don’t have other motives.” He muttered to himself as he started walking to another street.

The last card he had in his trouser pocket was just $15 and that alone couldn’t afford a ride.

“Hey! What do you want?” He was about to enter the public cyber cafe when the owner stopped him before he could gain access.

“Sir…” He trailed off.

“I asked a question, what do you want?” The grumpy tall man made a comeback.

“I… I want to make use of your computer for a job employment and test.” He lied, lowering his gaze.

“This is not a shop for that. didn’t you see the banner?” The man scoffed, pointing the logo at him.

“It’s a game shop, wrecker!” The man yelled at his face.

“I know. The other cafes are full, I could only use yours, please help me.” He pleaded dolefully.

The man gave him a long dirty look.

“And why should I help you? Do I look like a Father Christmas?” The man snorted, staring at him.

“I will pay you whatever you want. Just let me go in.” He urged.

“You?” The man smirked, giving him a good look from his head to his toe.

[WARNING: User has limited time to accomplish mission] The robotic voice came up with short blaring sounds.

“Please! Just let me in, sir. I’m in a hurry and I can't lose this job.” Fear and anxiety permeated from his voice which surprised the man.

He hadn't seen anyone so flared up for a job that he might never have.

“Fine. The gate fee and access to gadgets is $150. Pay and I will let you in.” The man sighed.

“Ordinarily, I will never do this.” The man commented.

“I…” That was where the problem was, the young man had no money on him.

“What is it this time?” The man’s voice was so strict.

It gave him no room to beg.

“I don’t have money on me.” He spilled bluntly.

“And what do you want me to do?” The man raised a scornful brow.

“Do you trust me?” He asked.

The man laughed shortly.

“Why should I trust a stranger?” The man rolled his eyes sarcastically.

“If you let me use your cyber cafe, I promise to pay $1,500 when I'm done.” He assured the man even though he wasn’t sure.

He didn’t know if he would accomplish his task but that was the only way he could escape the system’s wrath.

The man rubbed his chin, giving him a close look.

“I bet on your word and my eyes are on you. I swear, you must pay me.” The man said seriously and he nodded.

He sighed heavily as he attained the piece of paper from the man, the paper had "computer 113" login details.

Strolling into the cyber cafe that had dim lights, he saw other customers concentrating on the console and action games they were playing. Most customers playing COD games were so engrossed that their voices could be heard in the hall.

He took his seat on the desk that had 113 and impatiently started typing in the login details.

“So, where should we start…” He broke his knuckles, staring at the screen.

Some external CDs were needed for this process but he thought of improvising if not, the cyber cafe staff might have noticed what he was trying to do.

For this success. He had to be careful.

“{Welcome to Wayles Enterprise}” His adoptive father’s company dashboard dangled in his eyes, as he saw some adverts and information about the company.

Well, he wasn’t available to invest or become their partner, he was there to get rid of them.

He started decoding the company’s dashboard to get the raw codes used in tracking IDs and also funds. He was trying to gain full access to the company through their site.

Surprisingly, the owner of the shop whom he had promised to pay extra kept on walking back and front, wondering what he was doing. He noticed the man’s movement and sighed.

He will be a goner if he doesn’t do his own end of the bargain.

“Father! Father!” Kaiden’s voice could be heard in the entire workspace as he rushed to his father’s office.

“Father!” He called out as he barged into the office without knocking. Mr. Wayles was finalizing his discussion with his secretary.

“What is making you bark like a dog, son?” Wayles scoffed as he walked away from his table.

He beckoned Kaiden to sit with him in the armchair but he refused.

“Father, we have an emergency.” He panicked.

“Emergency? What’s that?” Wayles' eyes widened, staring at his son.

“I can’t explain, check this.” He gave his father his working iPad and as he went through it, cold chills ran up his spine as his eyes turned blue.

“What’s the meaning of this?!” He half-yelled in agony as he stood up.

“I just received a report from the cyber security team. Our company is under attack and they are losing potential as the hacker seems to be tough-skinned. Our company is on the verge of going bankrupt which means our money and investment funds will vanish if it is hacked.” Kaiden impatiently rambled with words as he explained.

“What!? That’s impossible!” Wayles yelled.

A small cold smile rested on his lips as he strolled out from the cyber cafe, he didn’t know if he had accomplished the mission neither did he hear the system’s voice.

He was somewhat worried but tried not to show it. His reveries were cut short when a stout hand grabbed his arm.

“Where do you think you are going to?” It was the owner of the cyber cafe.

He swallowed hard on nothing, staring at the man with fear lingering in his eyes.
