Chapter 9: The wins

“I said it! There was no way!” Mercury laughed. “He must have stolen the card. He’s not worth all these waits.”

“Yes, he’s obviously just in pain. There’s no way he can afford such an amount of money. His salary at the hotel is just 2000 dollars. How then can he afford 50,000 dollars,” Linda snickered.

Brad was shocked. He turned to the waiter. “How is that possible? You have to try it again! Or maybe your machine is broken.”

At least, he got the card earlier that day. Why would it be invalid?

The waiter pulled out the card and inserted it again. He stretched it out to Brad again.

Yet again, the card beeped and the waiter looked up at Brad. “It’s invalid,” He announced again.

“Brad was bragging. Do you seriously think he can afford it?” Bertha mocked.

“Then he needs to apologise to Mick. He’s not his mate!” Mercury muttered.

“I support that. In fact, it has to apologise to every student present here,” Linda added.

Bertha nodded once. “And call me godmother.”
