Chapter four: Superman a gift and a curse

“Just do it!” Conrad shouted, and immediately Dr. Romeo turned on the machine and that's when the real pain started.

“Arrrgggghhhh” Conrad shouted as if his whole bones were being crushed.

“Sir, should I turn it off?” Dr. Romeo shouted to Conrad as he reached for the switch of the machine.

“No, I can do this!” Conrad shouted back.

“But sir it will kill you” Dr. Romeo shouted

“Don't worry, I will make it alive” Conrad shouted back.

The entire room was filled with the sound of the machine and Conrad's shout of pain. Finally, the was silence, both the machine and Conrad had stopped and the only thing that was heard was the sound of Dr. Romeo pushing done buttons to open the machine, so Conrad could be brought out but when the machine door opened all that came out was carbon gas and when it has cleared Conrad was gone.

“it didn't work, I have killed my boss” Dr romeo said in fright as the carbon gases desperate into thin air. Suddenly the carbon gases became visible, and they started coming together and forming a humanoid figure and then completely formed Conrad.

“I can't believe it, it worked, his alive” Dr. Romeo said surprising as he walked up to Conrad.

“Ye.ah, it.wo…rk.ed.” Conrad stuttered because he was dizzy and had lost lots of energy due to the stress of creating his body back after it had desperate.

BAM!!!, The sound of Conrad hitting the ground hard could be heard, and immediately Dr. Romeo carried him carefully and laid him on a small bed there in the room they had carried out the experiment, so he could monitor his vitals.

After a very comprehensive test, Dr. Romeo realized that the experimental had worked and Conrad was cured, but he would require lots of energy to be able to keep his body in a solid form and if his did not get enough energy he would desperate into carbon molecules and die.

It was a massive breakthrough for both Conrad and conco but it came at a huge cost, the only was to get enough energy that would be able to sustain Conrad was to find a way to harness all the energy in the human body since the energy gotten from any other means was either too violent or contained radiation or both.

So once again he was left in a very difficult situation, he had to choose between his life and others. Conrad was not the type of person who valued human lives but yet, he just could not find himself killing innocent people just so he could live, but he also did not want to die.

Conrad was sad once again, he had finally cured his genetic illness which was known to be incurable, the illness was basically a disorder which left his DNA incomplete like a puzzle with a missing piece, the only problem was: The missing piece never existed and could never be replaced with any other person's DNA, not even a family member or relative.

He tried hard to consider the lives of the innocent, but then he realized that no one is innocent or guilty. They are all just people with different beliefs, who follow laid down roots by people in a higher position than them and when they disobey they become the bad guys. This was usually his justification for doing bad stuffs, and it was always his motivation to get his hands dirty.

Finally, he made his decision after a long period of constant thinking. He decided to kidnap misfits and people who are termed criminals in the city and use a new device they had invented to enhance the energy in the human body. After enhancing it, it would extract it and store it in a liquid form and all Conrad has to do is to drink it.

Though Conrad knew extracting energy from human beings would kill them, he still went ahead to do it, he had made up his mind and there was no going back.

“Let me go, please, I didn't do anything!” Shouted an old homeless man who had just been kidnapped by Conrad's men, do he could be used for the experiment.

“Please sir, I'll do anything” pleaded the old man

“Sir, we got this man for the extraction” one of Conrad's men said to Conrad as he pulled the old man and set him on his knees, so Conrad could have a better view of him.

“Anything you say? All I want you to do is comply with me, when this is over I'll let you go, OK?” Conrad said to the man in a sarcastic voice.

“Please, I just want to go” the old man said, beginning to cry.

“Take him to the extraction room” Conrad ordered.

“Please sir, let me go! Please” the man cried as he was violently carried away.

Conrad was almost touched by the old man's tears, but his heart was just too hardened for him to change, he was ready to kill anyone to survive.

“Sir, the extraction machine is ready” Dr. Romeo told Conrad as he put a strap on the old man's mouth, so he won't be able to talk again.

“Begin” Conrad replied Dr. Romeo.

The old man's pain could be felt as his silent screams filled the air. In ten minutes, the whole extraction process was complete and ready for Conrad to ingest. Dr. Romeo poured the energy extracted from the old man into a bottle and told Conrad to drink it. Though reluctant at first, Conrad grabbed the bottle and gulped down the fuzzy liquid.

At first, Conrad felt like he was going to throw up, but he held it in and in a few seconds is effect kicked in, he felt a mild discomfort and then a more fierce discomfort then it stopped. Conrad looked at his reflection and he could not believe he was the one in the mirror, he was muscular and physically fit and the pain he usually felt stopped.

All of a sudden, Conrad dropped to the ground and….
