Chapter three: A near death experience

“ahhhhhhhh” Conrad, a thirty year old American man about 6ft (1.83 m) tall, he had white hair and beards with blue eyes, shouted as the experiment started. He had been the CEO of a ConCo since he was 20 years, but he had to appoint an acting CEO because his illness had increased.

Conrad was suffering from a fatal genetic illness that was most likely to be transferred to the firstborn of their bloodline, usually the men in their family would get a random woman pregnant so that she would bear their firstborn and whoever they would get married to will birth healthy children.

But Conrad was really unlucky, despite he was the last born of his father, he still got the illness and his father's mistress gave birth to a health child and as toppings to his problems, his father divorced his mother and married his mistress.

Conrad was left with his two sisters after his mother committed suicide due to depression. Conrad was hurt and in the quest for their survival they went into illegal business, not until Conrad watched his sister's get raped to death by one of their clients.

Conrad was so shattered, the only two people he could call family were gone, and he was left alone not knowing what to do, he just sat there and cried and cried, there was nothing else for him to do but to cry, though his tears could not bring them back, he still felt if he cried a little harder they will come back to him, so he sat there and cried begging his sister's to wake up, but they didn't.

After hours of constant tears, he dug a shallow grave and buried them there, still crying and begging them to come back to him, but the was no response. He buried his head in his palms and continued shedding tears and finally the was a sound, and he happily looked up to see if they had woken up, but it was just in his imagination, there was no one there but him. He was so disappointed, and he vowed to kill everyone who had ever hurt him.

Facing such tragedy as a child really took a toll on his mental health, coupled with the fact he was suffering from a fatal and incurable illness. He was really shattered and angry, there was nothing else to channel his anger to or rather no one else apart from his father. So, being sixteen at the time, he took three years of constant and brutal training and finally became a perfect killing machine.

He first hunted down and killed the people who raped his sister's to death, and he made sure he killed them slowly looking them in the eye, telling them the reason he was killing them and, of course, he enjoyed every bit of it.

Next he mapped out a perfect plan to get his father to will his tech company to him and then assassinate his father and stepbrother. His plan was almost too easy and in a short while everything was set, he had become the new CEO of ConCo and it was almost like taking candy from a baby.

Alas, just like the old saying goes, good things never last, seven years after Conrad became CEO, his health had deteriorated and none of his medications were helping him, he was going to die and there was no saving him.

“Sir, I have figured a solution” said Dr. Romeo, the head scientist of ConCo, to Conrad.

“I'm listening” replied Conrad early.

“We could use this new device I made to bond your cells with carbon molecules, it could be able to cure you, but it's only a fifty percent chance of survival.” Said Dr. Romeo, trying to make Conrad aware of the dangers attached to it.

“We have to think of another way” Conrad replied

Conrad sat alone in the dark, and his mind traveled far and wide, remembering how his life had always been from one problem to another, and finally, when he felt like he was  going to be happy, nemesis caught up with him, and he was going to lose the life he fought so hard to get.

Conrad was once again broken, and soon he started crying again. He never thought he would ever shed tears or feel sad again, he thought he life would be perfect after becoming the wealthy CEO of his dreams, but he was mistaken. While he was busy taking down all the people who hurt him, his illness kept growing, and he was so blinded by rage he did not notice when he hit rock bottom.

That night Conrad cried himself to sleep hoping that would be the last night of his life, and once again he was mistaken. Though he woke up, he was worse than dead. His whole system was shutting down, and his was in the most excruciating pain anyone could ever imagine, his whole body was out of control, so he could not move or do anything.

He was noticed hours later by one of his house helps when he was at the verge of death. She raised an alarm, and in no time he was carried out and rushed to the hospital by his driver. Some minutes later, his health started improving, but he just had an hour left to live.

Conrad ordered his driver to quickly take him to ConCo. In twenty minutes, Conrad was at ConCo, and his workers were ready to do whatever he said. Conrad's employees were shocked that he asked them to carry out the experiment knowing he had only fifty percent of survival, but they had to do it anyway.

In a few minutes, the machine was set and Conrad was in it. The device was ment to bond Conrad cells with carbon molecules by splicing his DNA, and combining it with another cultured artificial DNA created to enable humans to regenerate cells that can desperate into carbon, and of course, it would also make previously created cells alike with new ones.

The cells were also supposed to come back together to recreate the desperate cells.

“Do it now!” Conrad ordered.

“But sir, there's a catch.....” Dr. Romeo replied

“I don't care, just do it!” Conrad ordered again.

“But sir, you may not survive it and…" Dr. Romeo replied trying to convince Conrad of another way.

“Just do it!” Conrad shouted, and immediately Dr. Romeo turned on the machine and that's when….
