Chapter 7: Blade's Magnetic Charisma

Blade realized that using this plan and implementing it on time was the best course of action to take. He has to do everything at the right timing and in all secrecy.

After nodding to himself, he immediately started scouting the surrounding 300 metres for any sort of presence once more. Once he was done with his observation, he got down to work.

First, he carefully removed the car wreck to avoid unnecessary noise and began dragging it back to base with a flushed and excited face.

He kept changing directions so as not to meet either strangers or acquaintances along the way. His direction must be kept a secret and seen by less people. If possible, no one should see him coming back at all.

Along the way, he kept on thinking of the massive haul he had.

'pop!' Blade's foot kicked a protruding stone on the ground and he lost his balance and fell into the hot sand.

Damn! How did he kick this stone?

No! How dare the stone set itself in his way.

The latest tycoon in the 33rd division being disrespected by a random stone? Hmmph! Blade picked himself from the floor and kept on walking forward.

For some reason, he was feeling very handsome today. The goddess of fortune must have fallen for him at first sight!

This was the best gift he could receive for the year! Thank you goddess of fortune!

When he got to the base's inner circle's perimeter, he was asked to complete the routine inspections protocol by the system.

As usual the system would assess his health condition and then take away all foreign objects that radiate dense and unrefined magnetic energy then his Identification number and other specifics.

The object would then be scanned separately and if it was assessed to be safe, would be allowed into the inner base through another channel where it would go through another round of vigorous check.

Then the object would be packaged and labelled appropriately and would then be passed on to him after his own security and safety check had been completed.

This sounds a bit complicated but I'm reality, it's quite simple and efficient.

The whole process took no longer than 10 minutes.

Immediately after entering the base' collection hall, he was welcomed by a hubbub of voices as usual.

Someone was carrying an old worn out roofing sheet and was bragging about how he found it in the wild, another boasted about finding an old iron rod worth 80 black Magnetic tokens and another about finding a spare part that came from a truck from the outer base.

When Blade heard all this, he smiled wryly as he waited for his own discovery to be to be moved down to him. He would have been one of these people, happy and contented with a collection of 80-100 black Magnetic tokens .

Collections were actually divided into four. That was common, Bronze, Silver and Gold.

The common Collection package contained 1-90 black Magnetic tokens .

The Bronze collection package contained 91-350 black Magnetic tokens

The Silver collection package contained 351-900 black Magnetic tokens .

The Golden collection package contained 901-2000 black Magnetic tokens but since golden packages were usually paid in gold, it would become 20 Golden Magnetic tokens .

The assistant at the counter was used to passing all kinds of collection packages back to the scavengers and adding a bit of flattery so that she would get tipped with one or two black Magnetic tokens .

Imagine what fortune it would be if about 200 thousand people tipped her like that everyday! Although it isn't that exaggerated as she isn't the only clerk in the base, it still was a lucrative job and she never wanted to abandon it.

When Blade's turn came for him to get his collection package, the assistant looked at him and with an enchanting smile on her face, greeted him warmly, "Hello! Mr Blade, welcome from your scavenging hunt, how was your day?" her smile radiated a hint of magnetic affection that seemed to make people's opinion of her instantly enter favorable levels.

This was Anne's magnetic gift and she rarely used it even though her job required it. She only reserved it for some special people and Blade was one of them.

She was especially radiant at the thought of the single handsome young man in front of him. It was well known that, Blade was a low tier defender that refused to get together with any known female for quite a while now.

In this particular era, where males were too few in between and the SAA encouraged the increase in childbirth, many men aready had three to five wives at home. These wives even loved each other and tried their best to live in harmony because, a man in this era, is eligible to kick out any woman he doesn't like and get another suitable person.

Now Blade was a man with no female, which made him one of the most wanted man out there.

Most females wanted him to theirselves and made different advances and approaches both directly and indirectly. But unfortunately, he seemed a bit too block headed in this aspect.

So, they could only keep trying to win him over with different tactics.

She even remembered one of her close friends Terra, who had even designed an extraordinary blueprint named 'Catching the super gold fish'.

This particular blueprint even had different levels corresponding to Blade's mood as at the specific period of the day.

Blade was an infamous guy among scavengers just for his good looks and position as a very eligible superhuman man. In a world of strength, most women wanted to take the gamble and see if Blade would change later on and get a breakthrough into the middle tier defenders of the division.

There was even a booklet that contained basic rules and guidelines to follow when approaching a gold medal bachelor circulating among the ladies of the inner base.

Such was the life of a spinster in this new anti-magnetic world that had too few males in it.
