Antonio already has its path of independence. Right after the chaos in his university, he decided to book a fancy restaurant away from the downtown; the dark nights twinkling with the light of hope and opportunity of getting drunk with life-- must be the truth he always wanted to have.
The manager of the said pub guided him to the reserved table, prepared a rum and glasses of expensive finger bites. Antonio seated, crossed legs and gazing at the manager who seems anxious and waiting for his orders. Antonio thinks that the other employees in the said pub seem curious of sudden changes of their manager's personality.
The manager spoke to him in a calm tone which Antonio seemed shocked. Antonio noticed that it sounded so scripted and he wanted to put an end to his blabbering mouth, but he can't because he don;t want to have a reputation of being rude to the manager, even to employees who are eyeing him with death glare, as if he can buy them. I mean, he can but he won't.
“How does a dashing young man visit my pub?” the manager asked while looking at Antonio with a hint of malice.
Antonio just shrugged off the manager’s intense gazed and answered. “I just want to drink,”
“What do you prefer? A light rhum or a local rhum?’ the manager enumerated the bestsellers of their pub.
“What do you recommend?’ Antonio asked, while he comfortably gazed at the window, overlooking the city's bright lights.
“Light rhum,” the manager stated.
“Sure. Can I have it now?”
The manager immediately called his employees by clapping his hand. Antonio quickly glanced at one of the female staff who clumsily put a glass and cold lemon water on his table. He gazed at the female employee in which he’s quite intrigued because she’s so familiar.
The manager scolded the female staff for being clumsy and when the manager noticed that Antonio gazed at his inappropriate behavior, he immediately apologized for the sudden commotion of their clumsy employees.
“No, it’s fine. It doesn’t bother me at all,” I said. He flashes a smile that makes the whole employees sighed dreamily. The manager caught off guard, even the female staff.
The female staff excused herself whereas the manager still scrutinized the other staff, preparing Antonio’s table.
When the manager seemed satisfied, he left Antonio and had a private moment. Antonio thanked them for their service. He chugged down a whole glass of light rhum. When Antonio immediately noticed a pair of eyes, gazing at him, he tried to look as calm as possible.
The female staff hurriedly went to the other side. Antonio missed the night of living and talking to a woman. When he caught Sarah cheating during her birthday, he knew for sure that he would have an empty hole within him.
Antonio spent all of his hours drinking, he didn't even check his phone for updates. Next week, he will be the next CEO of that said goddamn company. And everything will be under his control and maybe, protection. One thing he’s anxious about, how can he do that with less experience on managing a company?
The doubt consumes him but nevertheless he’s hopeful that other people would guide him. When Antonio noticed that he almost emptied the bottle of rum, he called a staff to get him another one.
Antonio waved his hand, he looked shit but he just wanted to have another bottle of light rhum.
“You want another bottle of light rhum,Sir?’ a female voice asked.
“Yeah, thank you.”
“Is that all, Sir?”
“Do I need another?”
“It depends,”
“I want you,” Antonio said without hesitation.
The female staff didn’t even flinch. She just listed down all of his orders and pour his glass with cold water.
“Sir, I suggest you drink this first so that you can think straight,” the female staff suggested.
Antonio looked up to her, curious about the caring voice that she produces in her mouth. He knew that this female staff member was familiar, he didn't know where he could possibly see her. She’s so pale with almond hair and freckles. Antonio’s curious on how a beautiful lady is working as a crew.
“Excuse me, Sir,” the female said, and she went to the cashier to put all Antonio’s orders. He must be catered at all times, he’s a very important person for the pub.
Antonio just gazed at the glass, staring at it, as if there’s an interesting thing that could happen within the cold water. Without a doubt, he drank the cold water, it spilled and made the corners of his mouth wet, even his shirt.
Antonio cursed. He even unbuttoned his shirt and wiped it with the tissue paper. He groaned when he realized that it would be wet and he couldn't do anything about it. He let his back lean and his head hang on the other side of the sofa.
“Here’s your light rhum, Sir.” the female staff said. She poured the glass of Antonio’s half-empty glass.
The female staff wipe the remains of water on the table. She noticed Antonio's position, she went a closer look to examine Antonio and help him to stay put in a normal state. The female staff combed Antonio’s hair by using her fingers. Antonio, on the other hand, almost leaned on the female’s chest.
“Can I kiss you?” Antonio slurred. He even faced the female staff who remained calm and collected.
“You want to kiss me just to ease the tension? Or because you’re drunk?’ the female staff said. Antonio didn’t get what she said since a glass of rum is right in front of his face; the female staff handed him to drink even more.
“I see no denial,” Antonio said. He noticed that she wanted the reason for his sudden request.
“I always get that indecent question all the time,” the female staff member said. She stands in front of Antonio now, leaving the space of the couch.
“You’re so professional,” Antonio complimented her.
“I just do my best at my job,” she said, while she got Antonio’s wallet and got his card. “You can leave now after I swipe your card,”
The female staff scan Antonio’s credit card, and she whispered his name. Antonio heard his whisper and he couldn't help but ask her.
“What’s your name?” Antonio said, barely audible.
The female staff ignored him and continued to walk away from his table and swipe his card to get him out of this pub. She’s worried that Antonio might poison himself through rhum. After that, the female staff called all Antonio’s bodyguards to let him vacate the premises.
When all the employees gathered to bid farewell to Antonio, the manager whispered to the female staff, and the female staff just gazed at the manager with a deadpan look. When Antonio is in the back seat of his car, the female staff put his credit card in his pockets. Antonio’s eyes are shut.
“Rest well, Antonio!” the female staff said. “I’m Elyse,”
Then, she shut the car door so loud. She acknowledged one of Antonio’s bodyguards before they started the engine and drive. It’s been a long night, they both concluded.
Antonio doesn't need to know more about the drinking session he had last night. He woke up feeling thirsty and still on his clothes. No one in the house dared to touch him or even change his clothes to make him comfortable. Everyone thinks he's some sort of an individual who's off limits. He doesn't have a severe hang-over and he decided to strip off his clothes. He walks naked in his modern room, filled with black and white motifs. He even walked to his glass window near his toilet. Antonio examined himself there, standing and staring to his biceps, to his stomach and down to his center. For a minute, he stood there, reminiscing the conversation he had from that particular female staff member. Antonio thought about the female staff's name. But a part of him knew her name but he forgot. He showered all his thoughts, doubts and worries. Everyday is a constant battle of knowing what to do of his new lifestyle. One of his personal assistant rush in, and ask Antonio what he wanted to d
It's Saturday afternoon. Mostly during these hours, the pub will be empty, no one is ordering their fave cocktails in the bar, or mostly flirting with their female staff members. It's an unusual sight, the manager said. All of the people are circling a certain table, far away from the entrance. It’s near the jukebox and the comfort room door. They are standing, hands on their chin, whispering and gawking at two people sitting at the table with a chess board and a clock. The female staff wears glasses with her hair down, wearing his female staff outfit. Her opponent is a stranger, who seems like a pub reviewer from the local government unit where they can revoke your license to operate. They instantly played chess as if they bet their life on it. One of the onlookers explained the game to his children, who didn't even know the rules of the game. ‘I want to play like her, dad,’ the children excitedly told her father. The father nodded and said, ‘In a right time, darling,’ The childre
Antonio thought his mother married a dead man. But, it had a different meaning. His mother tried to hide her relationship to a black sheep, a man who's son of a multi-billionaire and tried to leave a life penniless. Antonio knew the story by now because his relatives went to his house a couple of hours ago. Antonio doesn't have the mood to entertain visitors; his own relatives which he didn't even meet. They even tell all the most absurd stories and gossip they ever have, even the personal assistants of Antonio seem uncomfortable with the situation. When the time comes for the fitting of his suit, they bid farewell. Antonio politely guided them in the exit doors. "See you, tomorrow." "The universe will guide you with wisdom and grace, Tonio," one of his relatives who wears a boho hat prayed to him over. "Thank you, Mrs. Oberian," Antonio said. They give him kisses on the cheeks and bid him farewell. They already established a good reputation on socialization in which Antonio is h
The take over, meeting and introduction went smoothly, everyone in the company clapped their hands, whispered and thought about the future endeavors of the newly appointed CEO and his team. Everyone flashes smiles, giving their congratulatory messages and doubtful gazes to Antonio. On the other hand, Antonio is still calm, collected and down-to-earth. He shakes everyone’s arms, brushes all the doubtful and arrogant gazes of other committees and employees, but he avoided being rude since he wanted their permission to let him do his own thing. It’s appropriate to actually pretend that he has all the things in life but the permission and the likeness of the committee is all he has minus the money and power. Antonio has a conversation with one of the company owners in The Tower. “What’s your plan? I heard from your grandfather that you’ll have it listed,” an old man with wrinkled face and tailored suit, with a respected aura said. “I tend to keep it that way, since publicizing the lis
All the designated staff in the company placed a 10-page file in the table. They even distributed a piece of banana, orange slices and cranberry juice to satisfy their well-being. Elyse ate the banana since she's hungry and nervous. The silence in the room is palpable and she senses a hierarchy in the people who are on the table. Normally, the meeting room will be lively and packed but today it's a private session of the new organization team chosen by Antonio and his grandfather. Needless to say, only three people over ten are already in the room. Suddenly, the door swung and it showed two mid-30's. Elyse, is the only person standing and greeted them. The other two politely nodded and gazing at Antonio. Elyse noticed that the other two people in front of her didn't even care. The woman extended her arm to Elyse, introducing herself. "Hello, I'm Bennet Houseffer," she said, and she spoke to her companion. "This is Carlyle Jones," Elyse both shakes their hands. Carlyle examined Ely
Antonio haven’t heard any single farewell from Elyse, Elizabeth and Mr. Sanrino. When he quickly went into the exit doors, he saw them talking in the hallway, as if halting Elyse to go home. They just stand there as if they are long time friends. The old man and his personal assistant went into the meeting hall and Antonio tore off his gaze to those three people he called them triumvirate. The old man, who’s everyone called him like that instead of De Isqueirda Senior. “I didn't have any opinion about the media’s incessant question about the newest CEO,” The old man said without even sitting on his seat. “For sure, you’ll do it later, grandpa,” Antonio said, confidently gazing at his grandfather who built this empire with his trusted executives. “As I promise I wouldn’t put your face on the tabloid,” his grandfather assured. Antonio nodded, agreeing to his father’s behavior. “The files aren’t retrieved, yet.” One of the production managers said. He intently looked at Antonio befo
Elyse has time to think about her decisions, and now when they encounter an ambush interview with the journalists is not on her bingo card. She is even scared of her life now; being involved in a largest group organization in La Paz. De Isqueirda is one of the prominent families and everyone is kissing their feet for success. But, she needed to shrug this off. Maybe, having a full meal at RGO Restaurant is the best way to ease her anxiety. Elizabeth hummed a song, the taxi driver blasted a Cliffs by Rosenfeld. Mr. Sanrino is typing on his phone. “It’s on the news,” Mr. Sanrino suddenly said when they were outside the RGO Center. Elyse paid the taxi driver and thanked him. “I’ll tell the executives about this.”“Let's just eat and I don’t want to talk about this!” Elizabeth said, dismissing the scenario they had earlier. Elyse already walked and guided them to the restaurant. Even Elyse noticed Elizabeth’s sour mood. Elyse also quit and didn’t want to talk about the incident. That’s
The night will not end, someone from the executives called Antonio and threatened him to be the VP of Production. Antonio didn't want to hassle the newly formed organizational team and even his future plans. Antonio gritted his teeth when his secretary barged into his office. "Mr. De Isquierda, the executives threaten us to agree to his offer. If not, he will publicize your team members and other potential VP," the secretary said. "Damn it." Antonio cursed after that he fisted his hand and thought about a solution. "Tell his assistant that we can do it not until he offered us something that can benefit us," "But, Mr. Isquierda," the secretary halted Antonio, "Mr. Richardson is not an easy man. He wanted to do things on his own way,""Then, if he's a devil on flesh, we are devil in disguise," Mr. Antonio said. He even sparked the secretary's intuition, and even though Mr. Richardson is the bogeyman, Antonio is the one who can figuratively kill the bogeyman. "What do you want to do
